Level: juvenile-elder, as armadillos.
Habitat: Rural, semi-urban, urban, wherever there is garbage.
Attacks: Claw, bite, tail, ambush, special.
Special Attack: "Play Possum". The dire possum will sometimes play dead when hit with a sufficiently hard blow.
The attacker gets death messaging and attack messaging consistent with the possum being killed, and the live possum behaves like a corpse to all verbs, etc.
A careful appraisal of the corpse may reveal the act. This would teach appraisal.
When searched or looted, the dire possum quits shamming and makes a potent ambush attack while the looter's guard is down.

I really like this idea. I'm already thinking of the possibilities.

A small gaddar ant
The ant is tiny, almost invisible as it moves across the debris strewn across the floor. A bright purple streak splits the insect in two, running down the middle of its body from pinchers to stinger. Obviously moving with wicked intent, the little creature moves about the area with blurring speed as it searches for something to calm the hunger of the swarm. It's name is a relic from the former Imperial times when these creatures only inhabitted "badland" areas. However, they moved beyond the limitiations of natural boundries as the trade increased across the empire until they had hold in every province.
NOTES:
One hit, one kill. No matter what weapon you use or the skill. They teach no weapons at all...however, the potential for armor learning is increased. These critters work like leeches/worms/mites and will leap/climb/attach to the body and attack a single area repeatedly. If you're wearing armor, you will learn armor from these. If using shield you have % to block their leap attack. If not wearing armor will cause continued minor damage to the body part until causing heavy bleeder, at that time it will then dislodge and return to hive. Stronger variations will cause damage faster, but no more severe. variations include soldier gaddar ant, flying gaddar ant ( + % shield, if blocked), a overfed gaddar ant, and a gaddar ant queen.
Anyone who has lost track of time when using a computer knows the propensity to dream, the urge to make dreams come true and the tendency to miss lunch.

Bards have been able to 'BLUFF DEAD' for how long, and you're just now thinking of using it with a critter? Bubba, you guys are slipping.
BTW, I'd like to request Bards get an ambush ability usable only when under the effects of a successful BLUFF DEAD. ::whistles innocently::
