How about adding a command to the debt collectors like any/all of the following:
pay debt
pay clerk
These would pay the entirety of your debt or the entirety of what you have of that coin type on you (whichever is smaller). You would then get the same message you get now about any remaining debt or that it's settled.
A similar option is live for paying fees to the traders guild shipping clerk so I was thinking it wouldn't be that much work to add the option to the debt collectors.

I'm maybe not understanding your request, but can you clarify how this is different than the existing BANK DEBT verb?

DANG! After all this time, I never heard of BANK DEBT. Thanks for cluing me in that I needed to do a BANK HELP. BANK ACCOUNT and BANK DEBT are wow! I guess I can take these bank books I've been carrying around and throw them in the closest bucket of gloop. And I guess my Warmie can finally pay off his out of province debt he some how acquired 17 years ago. :D

Yes please; Great idea!
It might not what you're looking for but any front end worth using will have access to regex which makes setting up a script super simple. I'd suggest trying that in the meantime. I'm happy to share mine if you want (Hanryu#0052 on discord).

Ummm...No? Premium get access to it by default, and I'm reasonably certain the offhand reference to traders is IC lore-wonkery, not an actual trader ability.

I mean, if you just have more in your hands than your debt you can pay X where X is larger than your debt and it pays it all off.

As someone who also didn't know about this cool feature until now, it would be neat if you're alerted to it when you have your debt showing up under the various verbs (like INFO) where it does.
Debt:
You owe 6 gold and 3 silver Kronars to the Principality of Zoluren. (6300 copper Kronars)
You can pay off this debt in person at your provincial debt office or calling for a runner with BANK DEBT.
Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.
