<<2 points make a line.

<<3 points make a plane.

So you are saying 3 points don't make a line?

2 points can be used to define a straight line, however with 3 you can try and predict what kind of curve your data has.

You can try, but you're not doing much better than guessing.

i think you mean curve three points can define a curve.

Geometrically speaking, three points can, in fact, "make" a line, assuming that they are colinear points.

However, I doubt that such a wonderful thing is going to be readily apparent, so all everyone is doing right now is making assumptions.

No, I meant 3. Actually I can have an infinite number of points in a line.

But you don't need all of them to define it.

i can easily choose three point that are not in a line

a line contains an infinite amount of point, yet those points are strictly defined from the equation of that line.

2 points are used to make a line, a third point used with a normal vector crossed with the line makes a plane

it is like saying a circle is an ellipse, which is true it is just a special form

a line is a special form of a curve.

No one ever said that the Elanthian universe has Euclidean geometry.

But at least in the real world, three points would define a line with zero probability.

They don't always. They might just happen to fall into a line. They might just happen to not fall into a line.

3 points don't make a line. Sorry.

Actually, you do have an infinite number of points in a line. By definition.

actually i think as long as the third point is not contained in the line, it forms a plane. no need for it to be normal.

Aww, what's wrong with geometry?

After all, we can't fully discuss the implications of potential trends in player behavior without at least a cursory graphical analysis of the blotter data set.

That kind of analysis is WAY premature at this point.

We're better off discussing without it.
