Today's blotter is going to be reversed. First, the warnings.

Scripting - 8
PvP - 1
Puns - 1

And now, as I mentioned yesterday, a whole bunch of repeat business.

Lockouts
30 days
Scripting - 1

60 days
Scripting - 9

Termination
Previously Terminated - 5

Now to go inside the numbers. There are more lockouts than warnings, how does that work? As I've said before, every lockout situation gets reviewed before it even gets to me, so at least two in-game staff members will look at it before I get it, the warning GM, and a supervisor. That can take a day or two, and even if it's the same day, it may happen at a time I am not around. So if a warning and request go in Friday, but it doesn't get checked by a senior, the warning will be on last week's blotter, while the resulting lockout will be here.

A second inside the numbers, the terminations are back this week. I've said before, crime is a Darwinian business. To be successful at it, you have to not make mistakes. Let's say I miss a connection the first time around (which does happen), does that mean I will automatically miss it if it comes around again? No. To pull this off, everytime the person who shouldn't be here makes a mistake, I have to as well. The odds of that happening consistantly head to zero very fast.

There are two things everyone should take from this week. I posted earlier not to share accounts. This week's blotter is why. Every one of those lockouts came from either letting someone else use an account creating warnings that led to lockouts or letting a locked out person use the account. Second, as I have also said before, don't run open-ended scripts. If you're using them, they need a beginning, a middle and an END. If the middle sends it back to the beginning, at some point you'll post on the boards, or be watching Lost, or be making dinner, or fall asleep, or the cat will flush itself down the toilet, and the next thing you know, not only did you burn dinner, but you got locked out as well. Making sure scripts have an end is not a complete cure for that, but it might keep you from landing in the cell.

That's all for the moment.

It's probably like the Pokemon warnings that GMs got in an earlier Blotter edition. A GM thing, would be my guess.

Well, Pokemon is an animated kid's show, which uses capturable monsters to hold battles. One of the main recurring things on the show is that the main character has a creature, named Pikachu, with him almost all the time. Pikachu is a semi-cute little yellow creature, which only ever says its own name, Peek-a-chew, and is almost as disliked as Barney.

So, there is some sort of GM warning given for making Pokemon, especially Pikachu, references in communications. I won't even comment on the local girl who works at Sizzler whose name tag reads Pikachu...

That's just odd. And here I thought it was a warmie who named himself Squirtal and throws water balloons.

:laughs: funny I've seen stuff similar.

Doesn't one of the GMs have a pikachu familiar or something? It was probably used, another GM saw it and rolled his/her eyes, and then playfully issued a warning for Pokemon.

Same thing with the puns, some GM was probably overusing them, and someone noticed and was all like "LOL, Francis, but I gotta warn you for that one."

Boy do I agree with the comparison to Barney, Pikachu is soo annoying that I am so glad the younger kids finally out grew it. Going through the Barney years with the older kids many years ago was painful as it was, but to have a take two with this Pikachu was almost more than I could take. (mental shudder)

They are GMs/GHs, specifically the giver and givee of the Puns warning. Except for possibly mentors, players don't get to play in these reindeer games.

Actually, they are both ex-GMs, the cause and creator of the Pun Warning, respectively.

Heh, didn't know that old waggler was still around, a big Hello from a guild member who remembers his term at the helm.

You know I'd heard of them but hadn't a clue. One day a few months ago I was bored and channel surfing and came upon I think it was PBS and saw these brightly colored odd little creatures and paused. Watched it about oh 30 seconds and thought oh nooo, is this Telletubbies? What evil and twistedly wrong things they were. I've been trying to not think about that 30 seconds or so of TV I caught since.
