And now, this week's listing.

30 days
Scripting - 1

60 days
Scripting - 7

And the warning lists
Language - 2
Scripting - 10
PvP - 3

And another GM was warned for Pokemon.

Today's thing to point at is the warning to lockout ratio. 10 scripting warnings issued, 8 lockouts. There was some comment earlier about lockouts causing a decrease in population or some such. What the numbers this week show is the people getting warned are repeats. That they're going out for 60 means they've generally been here before.

Hello Fall!

hah!

It's against policy for GMs or on-site staff to discuss pokemon. it's ESPECIALLY against policy to sing the pokemon song in a public venue for the GMs.

Q: Do GMs get written up for (non-termination) reasons of a serious nature, and do those come across your desk as well?

Q: Some GMs seem to have friendly relationships with players. While it's exceedingly obvious there are rules against such things, do/would players ever have the joy of frivolous/playful incidents like above?

No, rules against messing with PCs (in the aforementioned manner). It's ok (although probably technically against the rules) to sneak in a quick death and auto-raise and stuff like that, but in all cases the player is leaving the encounter in the exact state they entered it. Not so if they get tossed in The Cell for an amount of time or the GM tosses up a fake warning that ends up on Sang's desk (I imagine that'd be a bit like crank-calling 911).

There is not such rule against staff being friends with players, how silly can you be. Most staff were players before becoming staff. They don't live in a freaking vacuum you know. There is policy about violating their NDA's and showing favortism though. I really can't believe you seriously just asked this, are you in SAKHARA mode or something?

A staff member should never treat a customer differently than any other customer in order to avoid the appearance of showing favoritism. Things stay much neater that way.

Nope, being the creative writer I am, I merely include lots of implication in my posts. Few people who respond to them seem willing or even able to grasp that, without also including absurd possibilities they should be dismissing out of hand. Such people waste my time.

GM disciplinary issues will never cross the desk of Feedback or Lockout.

I am not sure I understand the question.

GMs shouldn't ever be "crank-killing" players, nor do we have a way to issue fake warnings to players.

Fairly sure I've seen it happen a time or two, or at least minor mistakes that result in player death when player and GM are playing around instead of attending to their respective tasks. All such occurrances were fixed on the spot, though, and none were random prank-stuff. Also, I think maybe they were demonstrating some new thing?

The fake-warning stuff would be the pokemon charge and stuff like that, but I guess you answered the question already.

Askign a player to test something like a new creature and said player getting said behind fed to them intravenously is a different matter entirely. I've done that a few times.

However, just going down and killing a player? No. That shouldn't be happening.

Its happened in the past (Itharr could attest to that), but it isn't something that should be happening now.

I do remember a GM kill of a character by mistake. happened when GM-Royce was testing poison, and needed a viper for his testing.... and Viperas ended up dead. :-)
quite amusing, actually.

intentional kills are usually called Invasions. :-)

The only way I can imagine that happening is if in Viperas was in vipers...which would be pretty silly.

There's no way to remotely and mistakenly kill a player instead of a creature in that manner.

Itharr didn't count though, anyone who could manage to bleed to death while we gambled on the barge deserved frequent deaths. :>

It wasn't always on April Fools (I've had characters killed by a bunch of GMs before). But, regardless it wasn't a bad thing. Not complaining, since it was funny either way. Just stating that GMs have killed characters before.

Why yes, yes I was in vipers that day. As I recall it was the first day I had ventured out of Shard being new to the game and exploring in general. I had discovered maps of Elanthia and felt brave enough to venture forth. I stepped into that thicket, walking around a few minutes getting my bearings when suddenly the ghastly skull appeared and I was dead. No sooner had my head hit the grown than I was up and standing again, with no freaking clue what had happened.

It wasn't until later when I went to Simucon and had the chance to meet Royce that I discovered it was actually he that did tha. From then on it continued to be a good laugh at each subsequent con or meeting.

By the way, try being a Moon Mage with the name Viperas and having to focus on the Viper Constellation. Needless to say, having friends willing to scribe that one for you is well worth it.

Viperas

P.S. Heard about the post from a friend and just had to stop in to comment. Hope everyone is well.

I was playing a moon mage in TF named Katamba for about 10 circles. I eventually gave up on that idea.

Reminds me of that one time when I just returned to DR and got attacked by Goblin Phys Ed Student and Goblin Literature Student, etc. at the Aesmath Academy. I thought we were no longer supposed to train there as a result of some game event during my absence. Still dunno what was the deal with that (most likley a GM goofing off and letting newbs suffer in bewilderment).

I think there were a couple 50+ that came in to drag me but got slain.

The "deal" with that was, you were training and not responsive to the environment.

Er.. i'm not sure where you got that, because I was IN the aesmath academy running to train Wisdom and Int after just circling that time. I saw those strange creatures and deliberately decided to stop in my tracks to check out what they were, maybe tamed/chained goblins like the one at the chef's when you come out of the CM. I figured they were goblins and couldn't be too hard. Had I not stopped moving out of curiosity I could easily have avoided those goblins, and I saw no other character there IIRC. This should be about a year ago. If you meant you know the GM who created those creatures and that specific incident, but did not remove the creatures after the scriptor was gone, then I would appreciate it if you did not jump straight to the accusation, or the misleading direct reference. There were a few other cahracters who also ran into said creatures.
