I returned to the game somewhat recently and noticed that there are only very standard and boring colors at the Knife Clan metal dyer, which I found useful for forged weapons (especially those with no marks, and thrown weapons like a steel javelin).
Can a player dye the weapon with any of the old, interesting colors? If not, why haven't the old ones been reinstated to the metal dyer?
Also, if the dyes exist but are not player-created, and so are very rare from quests or fests, they are not obtainable by my low-level characters.

Not in charge of anything, but my best guess would be that having those more elaborate colors offered only through other players creates a market for them outside of the standard shops.

For the time being, they are only offered through the reward system at HE. In the future, they are likely to be something that can be created like any of the other crafts.
