How time consuming would it be to tack non-rare fibers into the gathering systems? I'd love to be able to forage for cotton, jute, and flax and ARRANGE for silk and wool. While it'd be great to get a few more templates in silk and wool (depending on the critter skinned), just to be able to acquire crafting materials on our own would be great - I think cloth tailoring is the only extant system that still relies on society shops for all base materials.
Thanks!

AFAIK, fibers and lumberjacking are going to be two separate systems.
Would they be like mining? Maybe/probably.
Is it a matter of just "tacking it onto mining"? While I know part of 3.0 is making things more modular so new systems can take advantage of things already made, I don't know if the mining system of "gather materials" was based on it. That said, if it works like whatever tools the GMs have to create new spells, I assume that there still would need to be new tools/new messaging/new risks/new rewards/etc... and that stuff can add up. So I wouldn't necessarily see it as a light lift, if what I'm wondering exists in the first place does exist.
Uzmam! The Chairman will NOT be pleased to know you're trying to build outside of approved zones. I'd hate for you to be charged the taxes needed to have this place re-zoned. Head for the manor if you're feeling creative.

Would it be that difficult to overhaul the random loot hopper to get rid of the grimy mortars and embroidery neeles and change those to silk fibers or raw cotton or something?

Its just that these are lower on the list of lore stuff. Getting out some form of enchanting should be first. Then fill in others in the next couple of years. My guess is that fiber gathering would be done when Shaping is done. Shaping would include wood and clay. There you could make a system that included all three of them, plus other stuff, like ink material for artistry. poison ingredients, and stuff for tinkering. Hmm, so basic system could be set up if poisoning is first, or artistry. Or whichever, just have to leave tie-ins.
