It would be nice if they were changed so digging with a spade after an item was found acted more like trying to pick an item already outlined.

Meaning...it would be nice if digging again with a spade didn't destroy the item but instead said something like "It appears that an item has already been located, looks like you'll need a different tool to continue.".

Isn't there something like the dig in the the swamp near Haven where you can pull up stuff? Must have been my first or second month in DR, someone took me out there. I remember getting gems stuck to me, that was about it. (Maybe I'm just making up memories, but I swear it's real!)

Yes. A few years back a nutty Cleric felow with a Paly felow dug up bunches of Jackal blood rubies and Quarterstaffs that weighted in at 100stones among other curious items. They dug in the Zulfang swamp itslef was quite a dangerous task that required fighting off the local beasties while trying to dig. Would not recommed to the casual explorer.

Do you know where that dig site is; how to get to it; etc? Mind shooting me an IM (hanryudr) if the details are secret/long? Thanks.

>> Jackal blood rubies

I think you mean ebon jackal's heart pearls. My Empath collects Urrem'tier stuff, including a large number of swamp items, and there aren't any rubies.

The paladin/cleric was Blasword and Cadderly.

>>No, the site in the haven swamps.

It's not a dig site.

What you do...is climb into the giant skeletal claws, kneel, and search sludge (syntax might be a bit different since it has been a while).

The jackal pearls are explained as like...condensed evil and come cursed.

You can trade the "artifacts" found to the Priestess within the temple in the center of the swamp.

Below is a list of some of the items.

crude basalt knife

a carved black basalt scorpion figurine (Look: The figurine shows signs of great age, as if unearthed from an ancient burial ground. The scorpion's features are vague and stylized, and the stinger is missing from the tail.)

a crude basalt bracelet (Look: A simple and crudely-carved ring of black basalt, the bracelet bears tiny etchings that vaguely resemble vultures.)

a carved basalt star

a carved black obsidian star (Look: A crude tarnished silver pin has been attached to the back of the star.)

a translucent black glass pyramid (Look: The small palm-sized artifact is composed of three face panels and one foot panel. Each of the face panels have been etched with the faint likeness of one of three animals: a scorpion, jackal, and vulture.)

a sharp basalt dart

an ebon jackal's heart pearl pendant strung on tarnished brass wire

and a woven-reed herb pouch dyed various shades of grey and black.

a brittle reed armband (Look: The armband shows sign of great wear and tear, badly frayed and discolored with the lingering stain of greenish water, likely unearthed from the depths of some swamp. Some barely-visible writing runs along the bottom edge.) (Read: "May Eylhaar's frigid caress meet your skin before the vicious sting of Aldauth's beak.")

a beaded vulture feather talisman (Look: The talisman is indeed crude, and appears to be worn by innumerable years of neglect. It is constructed of a simple strand of iron wire strung with irregularly sized black basalt beads, interspersed with cracked and frayed vulture feathers of a dusky grey hue.)

a cracked clay mug

a chipped basalt bowl

a carved basalt link anklet (Look: The basalt links of the anklet have been carved to vaguely resemble scorpions, linking tail to tail and claw to claw.)

a carved basalt vulture's talon

a smooth obsidian pebble

a glittering onyx chunk

a carved basalt fish hook

a chipped basalt bead

an encrusted basalt mortar

a smoky quartz jar (Look: Etched into the side of the jar is the form of a sleeping jackal.)

a spiralled black iron armlet

a black crystal bead

an ebon jackal's heart pearl

a chipped brown bloodstone (look: The faint image of a spread-winged vulture has been etched upon the surface of the bloodstone.)

a heavy basalt staff capped with a sharp iron point shaped like a scorpion's stinger

a heavy basalt hammer with a jackal haft

A chipped basalt dagger shaped like a scorpion's stinger is a light edged melee-ranged weapon.

You are certain that it could do:
low puncture damage
poor slice damage
poor impact damage

You are certain that the dagger is well balanced and is dismally suited to gaining extra attack power from your strength.

You are certain that the basalt dagger is somewhat flimsy, and is in pristine condition.

You are confident that the basalt dagger weighs about 10 stones.
You are certain that the basalt dagger is worth exactly 600 lirums.
Roundtime: 8 seconds.
