Can someone point me in the direct of what are the "best tools" given the following conditions:

1) I am only looking for metals
2) I only pick up specific metals
3) I want to increase the speed with which I clear a room of junk
4) I want to increase the amount of my take when I find a specific metal.

Right now:

a) I use my pick to jam through rooms with junk.
b) I use my pick to jam through rock until I get the "metal message"
c) I then use a shovel to harvest as much as the specific metal as possible.

Any tips or hints would be appreciated. Also, anyone know the timing on the respawn? Is it random?

Thanks

Use pickaxe until you start finding metal. Keep using pickaxe until the room is cleared out if it's a metal you don't want to keep. If it is a metal you like, use shovel until the room is cleared out. If you like the metal that you are finding, use PROSPECT CAREFUL at some point near when the room is empty (or even after you emptied it)

It sounds like you're pretty much already doing what I wrote

And what type of pickaxe and shovel are the best? (I'm guessing the ones you sell!)

The ones I sell (wide shovel and weighted pickaxe) were chosen since they are the highest speed, lowest durability version, which almost everyone considers to be the best (but other tools would be better if you wanted to focus on durability).

I've been selling tools that are medium C steel mixed with oravir, since this is generally the best material for most people, although for someone who has the techniques to make their tools immune to damage, you may get slightly higher speed (and much less durability, but who cares) by using High C Steel. The speed on the High C and Medium C steel tools appraises as the same, and with no compare verb for tools, it's hard to tell whether their speed is actually very different at all. I've been making High C Steel tools on request for people who prefer those since they can make their tools immune and incredibly low durability is no concern
