First of all, let me just say that I was watching it with three of my friends, two of whom I kept having to turn and shush every time Frodo and Sam were on screen simply because they kept turning their words around and implying things that *aren't there* ::glances around suspiciously:: and then there was the friend on one side who kept throwing popcorn at the friend on the other side.

I'm sorta glad I didn't read the book before watching the movies, cause that means I can enjoy the movies without worrying about what's missing from the book. I can always read the book later. I love the graphics and the technology! It's just so incredibly amazing! And yeah, when Golom first came on screen, I just sorta stared with my mouth open and hoped that when I become a great animator (::prays::) I can do neat stuff like that and have it look as realistic.

Oh, and as a side note, Smegul, you're so cheap! I finally know where you got your name from! Now every time I see you, I'll think of this little...creature...grrr! Bad!

Alright, on to my favorite points from the movie!

Oh yes, and spoilers, so if you don't want to know, go away!

First of all, we need less of Ariwen (hopefully I got the spelling right) Her face resembles that of a horse! Why do all the female Elves have these really long and ugly faces! Elves are supposed to be pretty! Argh! And what was up with her dress! Apparently just before she came on screen, she was taking part in some ritual wet dress contest! ::flaps::

I loved Gimli just the way he was ^_^ The only thing was that whenever he made any short comments, my friends turned to me ::grumbles:: And they especially got a big kick about the box comment, because....I all to often am placed in that same situation -_-

I don't know the guy's name, but Ariwen's father...everytime he came on, I just kept thinking "Mr Anderson!" and was anyone else amused by the expression on his face as Ariwen is leaving with the other Elves? It just begs for a caption! "What is that smell!" Had me and my friend laughing for a good five minutes (quietly, though. We tried to be polite, even though no one freaking clapped at the end! I did though...)

How about the only people in the film whose hair did not become unbelievably dirty and tangled were the Elves hair? ::grins:: It was like an ongoing commercial for shampoo and conditioner!

And of course, since we're mentioning Elves here, we can't not mention Legalas, cause he's just the best. And may I add that I so wish I could load bows as fast as he can and shoot them as fast as he can with as great aim as he was getting!

A random thought during the battle scenes: I hope they have favors.
A random thought when the Elf leader died: He should have gotten more favors.

The only difference between the King before and after Saruman had taken possession of him....was that after, Saruman wasn't possessing him! Oh, and he wasn't as old looking, had less facial hair, and talked more. But otherwise, he seemed just as mean! "Oh oh, lets not stay and fight while we still have a chance. Lets all run away to a dead end and DIE!" "Oh it's time to fight. Lets all DIE!"

I really really loved the movie though ^_^ The backgrounds were fantastic, the music was stunning, the graphics were just...breath taking....it was just great. Really really great. I'm glad I went to see it, and I would go see it again...though perhaps with less distractions ::grins:: Though of course, now I can't get the whole "Frodo and Sam thing" out of my head! Argh!

Yeah the whole Arwen thing really bugged me. I guess Peter Jackson is jst determined to get Liv Tyler in his LoTR films at all costs. I didn't like how he tried to make it seem like there was some kind of triangle there, either. Aragorn was always very clearly in love with Arwen and faithful to her all along. His doubts were in himself, not in the relationship.

Faramir being too much like Boromir bugged me too. And what the heck were Sam and Frodo doing in Osgilliath? That just never happened like that.

The Ent story line needed more time as well. Book 2 was a difficult read for me the first time I read it...um this was probably 30 years ago. Having to follow all the stories can be a little disjointed and I think the way the film did it was choppy at times.

Return of the King was always my favorite of the three volumes. I still cry when I read it. I have great hopes for that one. I did enjoy The Two Towers and I will definitely own the DVD when it is released. So far these two films haven't disappointed me too terrible much. The director definitely is a fam and tried to stay as true to it as he could. But, ughh, please Liv Tyler, ughh ughh, Arwen doesn't need to be in every film. The only truely important thing about the relationship between Aragorn and Arwen is that it is a repeat of the cycle started by Berien and Luthien. The merging of men and elves where the elf gives up immortality for love, etc.

Well that and in order to keep aragorn alive for long enough to be the man he needed elven blood. Ontop of that Elven blood + Human blood= super royalty. Think of it as middle earth's heavenly birth right.

I'm sorry to do this, but...I have to admit that the first time I read the series I thought that they were a bit closer than most people would be comfortable with, and it keeps running through my mind when I see the movies. It's one of those things that made the Very Secret Diaries incredibly funny to me. Hmm...speaking of which, shouldn't there be some new ones coming out soon?

Just for those of you who missed them...

Every time you call yourself "cupcake" I keep thinking of a WAV I have stashed somewhere of a young girl's voice saying, "I'm a sweet little cupcake ... <voice drops a little> baked by the devil!".

Ya know what the only thing that bugs me about reading the books? Watching people horribly mispell the names when posting about the movie. Grrr!

If I can find it. A while back my WAV collection was getting quite cumbersome (was the main reason at the time I bought a 100MB Zip drive, heh). Cut it all to CD, but for some reason the CDROM on my latop refuses to read it. :-/ Still working that one out.

It may be in one of my other archive files, though. I will take a look.

I guess that sort of support comes built-in with WinXP, I got the CD to read over on my wife's machine (running WinME on the laptop). Couldn't find the specific file I was looking for, but found one that had the clip as part of a mix.

Downloading the UDF reader now, thanks for the link.

Thank god I'm not the only one. heh. It's been driving me bonkers. I've been trying so hard to be nice and not correct people, and just show a good example by spelling correctly in my posts.

::grunts:: As I said...I haven't read the book, so I don't know how the names are really spelled. I heard what they were called in the movie and I took a wild guess based on what I heard. So give me a break, please.
