I've been playin' DR for years and I never knew this forum existed. Outstanding!
I think it's great that so many DR players are in the military.
Anyone stationed in Japan? Any fliers?

Ahhhhhh....Kadena, been a long time but still have vivid memories of time there (but we won't go into details). I was in the Marine Corps stationed on MCAS Futenma from summer 93 to summer 94.

Ahh, yes the Rock that is Okinawa.

Spent a year there from 98-99 over at Foster.

What's that place in Naha? The stage? Go see the Bannana Show over off of gate 2 street.

Oh, and go see Whisper alley just for kicks, just don't stop.

Dang Genneron, you just had the memories flood back...

Yes, it's the stage in Naha <g>

And the banana show, it used to be at Club Mercury (can't believe I still remember that after 10 years)

And whisper alley (psst, hey GI), he is right, just walk by to say you've done it, but don't stop LOL

What was also very funny is how someone would go into one the "rooms" and come out a couple minutes later. And the "resident staff on duty" would poke fun of their most recent customers.

Also, did you eat the banana Genneron? hmm....??? And how many quarters did you lose?

God Genneron..that brought back some...distirubing visuals..I was stationed at Camp Schawb and remember getting to catch that damn bus into Kadena AFB..I remember even more vividly and more often than not praying that, that bus would return to the pickup in time to get us back to Schwab for formation. God we looked a sorry sort all passed out on the steps and grass..

Schwab...I hated that rifle range. At the 200, you might have 10 mph winds from left to right, and at the 300 it would be no wind, and the 500 it'd be 15 mph from right to left.

Oh I loved cobra gold, I was there in '98. Best two months of my life.

I did a trip to Fuji too, I got a stick, but of course they made me check it in baggage when I got on the plane to the states.

Did it ever come off?

Sure, somewhere over the ocean.

Tokyo was a great city, so many people there and so diverse.

Hey Tern, you ever do any training up at the Jungle Warfare Training Center? If you did you have my sympathies.

I didn't do any training there but my most vivid memory of Schawb was arriving on the island, waking up the next morning, and finding out we had a full NBC dress 10m hump prepared for us by the commander. Apparently someone had misinformed him of our arrival date. 85 percent heat casualties. It was a joy.

<<Any fliers

Pretty soon. Starting Undergraduate Pilot Training in November. Right now I'm filling my time as a casual LT playing foosball and playstation, and sometimes when they think of something they want me to do I'll do that. (Like filling sandbags before hurricanes (yes all 4 hurricanes), cleaning the grill, etc).

I'm excited to start training even though I hear it will be one of the toughest years of my life. I'm sure DR will be put on hold for a while once I get into it.

Thats definately true, and the really amazing thing most folk in the military know what youre talking about when you mention it whether theyve been there or not. My biggest fear is that some drunk service member decides to write a book about it and for some ungodly reason it gets published.
