I've been told I wear too much, and since alot of people here are talking about things they dont like to see...I figured I could also use this chance to get an assesment from you folks on threee of my favorite charaters. Starting with my main man for now:

You are Spearman Alexii, Outcast, a Rakash Ranger.
You have a square-jawed face, silver-flecked eyes, one blue-grey and one milky white and a classical nose. Your grey-streaked snow-white hair is shoulder length and thick, and is worn arranged in tight dreadlocks. You have pale skin and an athletic build.
You are tall for a Rakash.
You have a tattoo of a pair of crossed silver spears on the front of his neck. From each spear dangles a trio of feathers tied to the base of its deadly point. Overlapping, a thick emerald green paw print frames the image of a moonskinned Rakash hunter kneeling alongside a large silver wolf. Behind the companions lies a trio of snow-capped mountains and a totem carved with a badger, a butterfly, and topped by a crow. Large full moons, one black and one gold, flank the spears on your neck.

You are holding a short-hafted hunthsleg adorned with green and brown spidersilk streamers in your right hand.
You are wearing a hunter green silk scarf draped casually around the neck, a dashing green silk hair wrap decorated with an emerald-set ivory plate, a black pair of droluger-hide nauda, a shiny black satin odaj, an animite-buckled mesh war harness, a pair of animite-buckled mesh war belts, a chieftain's ivory and animite bracer set with a crested glacier emerald, a leaping silver wolf pin, a detailed silver spear-shaped band with a crested ivory tip, a dashing forest green silk sash with an emerald-set ivory clasp, an alabaster brocade gem pouch embroidered with a jet-black wolf, a thick ivory mourning collar dangling a two-faced Katamba pendant, an oiled leather spearman's longcoat with an emerald and ivory crest, a spidersilk eyepatch stitched with crossed spears overlapped by a wolf's paw, a large frosted silver tool bag woven from silk mesh, a frosted silver hunter's pack made from woven silk mesh, a brushed silver cloak pin set with a tiny glass figure of a flame-wreathed lion filled with glittering sand, an albredine crystal ring, a polished belt frog with an icy-blue blade hanging from it, a platinum jadeite gwethdesuan, a platinum kyanite gwethdesuan, some deep green combat leathers with riveted silver pauldrons, a deep green mail hood with a bronze facemask shaped into a wolf's visage, some deep green mail gloves backed with engraved bronze plates and a steel-banded ironwood oval shield.

I think you'd benefit a lot from sort auto head. I'd have been more likely to guess what a nauda was if it was down on your feet. I assumed they were gloves until I checked the dictionary. I don't want to bash your alteration(?), but I hate when I have to stop and look something up in a racial dictionary to tell what it is. On that note, I have no idea why the GM who made the Rakash merchant did item names in Rakash. I've seen Rakash that look like they were attacked by a bowl of rabid alphabet soup. Rant aside...

You're harder to do than Leilond, because he had a picture to work from. From your physical description, you're blind in one eye, so the eyepatch should stay. You have a lot of little items with long descriptions, like your bracer and spear ring.

Even though you have a lot of items, you have a theme going, and a lot of it looks like it was altered, or I just have no idea where it is from. However, I wouldn't read your outfit if I saw you in game, so in my opinion, the careful construction of a theme is wasted.

I'd pull either the scarf or the collar, since I'm not sure how you'd see both at once. If it were me, I'd yank the collar, because a Rakash in a collar makes me cringe.

The look I think you're going for: black base outfit (the odaj) with green accents. I'd keep the scarf, which I think would work well if you wrapped it around your head and neck (assuming its one of those scarves, and thats one of the options) to keep the sand out of your hair and face as you do dastardly Outcast things in the desert. I'm assuming your sash is around the waist, so I got rid of the weapon belts. I wouldn't want my blade to get tangled while drawing it, or cut up my sash. I took your armor off for now.

I have you looking like:

You are wearing a platinum jadeite gwethdesuan, a platinum kyanite gwethdesuan, a spidersilk eyepatch stitched with crossed spears overlapped by a wolf's paw, a hunter green silk scarf draped casually around the neck, a shiny black satin odaj, a frosted silver hunter's pack made from woven silk mesh, an animite-buckled mesh war harness, a dashing forest green silk sash with an emerald-set ivory clasp, an albredine crystal ring and a black pair of droluger-hide nauda.

which is about the limit of what I'd read.

Hope this helps some!

Do you think that you or someone looking at you can visualize what your character looks like? I think that is all you really need to know.

I've met Alexii several times in game, and not once have I ever made it past the tattoo.

This is the sort of thing that makes me sad, 'cause you've got some very nice pieces in your wardrobe, and I would never notice them in game because your description is simply too long for me to read!

However, I generally say: Just because you have some nice items, doesn't mean you need to wear them all at once. I like to swap out my jewelry, maybe only wear one or two pieces at a time. This way, the pieces my character does wear seem to pop in her description.

I also agree with the necessity for sort auto head -- it makes it much, much easier for me to visualize characters and gives a clue as to where an item I'm not sure about is worn.

<<You are wearing a platinum jadeite gwethdesuan, a platinum kyanite gwethdesuan, a spidersilk eyepatch stitched with crossed spears overlapped by a wolf's paw, a hunter green silk scarf draped casually around the neck, a frosted silver hunter's pack made from woven silk mesh, an animite-buckled mesh war harness, an oiled leather spearman's longcoat with an emerald and ivory crest, a shiny black satin odaj, a pair of animite-buckled mesh war belts, a detailed silver spear-shaped band with a crested ivory tip, an albredine crystal ring, and a black pair of droluger-hide nauda.>>

This is probably about the longest description I'd bother reading in game, and now I can actually see the theme you were going for. I left in the harness and the belts, since they match and have relatively short TAP descriptions, and I'm somehow imagining that this character needs a lot of space for weaponry.

I love the scarf, as those scarves can add a lot of flexibility to an outfit. I liked the spear ring, so I left that in, and I'd say swap that out for other jewelry/fluff you've got as the mood strikes you.

I would also dump the longcoat in the summer, as it is now, but dressing for the weather is always a judgment call. :)

Anyway, good stuff! Thank you for caring, and I hope this helped.

Alexii - is that how your tattoo looks when you look at yourself?

I'm just curious because it seems a bit weird to me, not to mention like some others, I found it long. I wanted to stop reading during the middle - but I made myself go on.

People are lazy and almost guaranteed to skim over a wall of text.

You are Celestian Kougen Aensworth, Advisor of Ilithi, an Elven Moon Mage.
You have pointed ears and crystal blue eyes. Your silver hair is long and straight, and is worn loose, tucked behind your ears. You have fair skin.
You have a tattoo of six towers on a field of stars encircled by the three Elanthian moons on your wrist.
You are in good shape.

You are wearing a loose fitting silvery silk shirt woven with an ice-blue pattern on the left arm, a pair of midnight blue fitted trousers of soft brushed linen, a brushed silver albatross amulet suspended from a heavy chain, a blue sapphire Xibar pendant, a polished platinum star set with a small dark sapphire, a dark cambrinth armband inset with a multitude of tiny gemstone chips, a white leather scroll case embossed with the symbol for eternity, a soft white linen sack clasped with a carved lapis lazuli albatross, a greatsword sheath, a soft black leather haversack, some boots of midnight blue suede traced with lines of silver and a gold kyanite gwethdesuan.

~~~
I think MY look is too long, and it's only 12 items. I'd ditch two or three if they weren't all important to me. You'll notice I also use a vaguely head-to-toe sort but altered to be a bit more intuitive, you're going to see big things like my shirt and pants before you notice my pendant and scroll case. Sort auto headtotoe comes out like this,
You are wearing a gold kyanite gwethdesuan, a blue sapphire Xibar pendant, a brushed silver albatross amulet suspended from a heavy chain, a polished platinum star set with a small dark sapphire, a soft black leather haversack, a loose fitting silvery silk shirt woven with an ice-blue pattern on the left arm, a dark cambrinth armband inset with a multitude of tiny gemstone chips, a greatsword sheath, a soft white linen sack clasped with a carved lapis lazuli albatross, a white leather scroll case embossed with the symbol for eternity, a pair of midnight blue fitted trousers of soft brushed linen and some boots of midnight blue suede traced with lines of silver.
I like that a lot less, and couldn't stand it without taking off that gweth, either the pendant or amulet if not both, swapping the haversack for a backpack... you get the idea.
Actually looking this over now, I got rid of the amulet since there's an albatross on the sack, and I'm looking for a way do without the sheath next.
In short, when it comes to your LOOK, less is more.
Seconded.
Also, you must have the biggest neck ever. There is way too much detail for an area as small as your neck. I could see the chest or back, but the neck...meh.
Another option I've found useful is grabbing a fluff hiding robe/khandur/whatever. It leaves more of your character than those shadowsilk cloaks which I find a bit dull, but makes it bearable for someone to get an idea of your character but leaving all those items available for you to interact with.
I also wrote up short scripts for putting armor on and off so I can easily pull it when not in combat. Also set up an alias to set sort to sort auto head. Less typing makes much easier for you to bother with setting your inventory right.
You are Spider Jalika Tenretni, Bloodwraith of The Locksmith Union, an Elf.
You have pointed ears and silver-flecked dark eyes. Your black hair is long and straight, and is worn loosely piled atop her head. You have smooth skin.
You are short for a Elf.
You are in good shape.
You are wearing an ebon-hued cowl, a spider's web shawl, a shadow-black khandur, an animite spider-clasped baldric, a spidersilk traveler's satchel, a rugged oilcloth rucksack with leather straps, some perfect bison-hide gloves, an onyx spider ring, a lumpy bundle and some black high-heeled sandals with long thin straps.
Thanks for the feedback guys. Yeah the tattoo is a bit long but I wanted to make sure it was extremely detailed. Great suggestions on the fluff and jewelry, Ive been working on trimming it down to just a few pieces (bracer, ring, collar, sash, scarf) and I take all the armor off when out of combat. I do keep the harness full of spears (and a bastie and fishing pole) and the belt is chalk full of blunts and throwns. Although most dont like the tattoo because it is too detailed for what someone would think they could see on a neck, but I have neck tattoos and they are extremelly visiable..so much to a point that people can commment on thier subject from a block away. I dont wanna make shots at anyone but alot of players of the new races have had to go to some great lengths to show thier personal attachment to the race they play. This is one of them, the tattoo is a deep symbol for alexiis pack, family, and people.
P.S. The nauda were offfered as incidental prize on the ghost ship quest, the only time I've ever found a rakash item outside of the merchants.
Maybe you guys can help with Alexii's youger cousin, the sailor and cabin slave:
You are Novice Malakye, a Rakash Commoner.
You have grey eyes. Your blue-black hair is short and thick, and is worn tied back. You have pale skin.
You have a long thick mustache on your upper lip and a thick shaggy beard.
You are holding a card collector's case in your right hand.
You are wearing a grey bull sharkskin thigh bag with black leather drawstrings, an antiquated water opal thumb ring in a heavy silver setting, a royal blue tricorn trimmed with a gold filament braid, a driftwood treasure chest decorated with silk seaweed, an open front-laced black sarcenet shirt, a fine mesh backpack, a long mesh weapon harness, a poker-scorched uguns nuja, a first aid kit, some sturdy leather sailor's boots with gummed soles, a hooded sailor's longcoat of bright orange oilcloth, a grey sharkskin cartographer's toolbag clasped with a brass compass rose, some supple hunting leathers embroidered with a mottled sea serpent that drapes over the shoulder, a salt-crusted Rakash pirate marionette labeled "Clumsy Oaf", a wooden treasure chest trinket, a royal blue damask doublet edged with gold piping along the shark-tooth hem, a brass-banded libation caddy built to resemble an aged beer barrel, a pair of heavy black wool trousers piped in grey and gold, a deep azure enameled button badge depicting a beautiful woman and a seal poised upon a rock, a deep crimson sash embroidered with golden sigils, a simple silver bracer, some silver wire-framed spectacles with streaky ocean blue lenses, a gold-on-iron medal affixed with a faded yellow tassel, a sparkling crystal-flecked onyx necklace with a jeweled compass rose pendant, a steel-rimmed oval shield skillfully carved from aged cypress, a coiled hemp rope and a string of white pearls.
Leilond, I think you look much better now. Good luck with the alteration.
Mibe, sorry I was unclear, it wasn't my sheath, it belonged to a friend who has since quit, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't the only one in Prime (though I have no idea where it came from).
What do those sheathes sell for now? I have one on a character I don't play so much, I might be interested in parting with it.
