If you don't have a wolf or raccoon companion in a sack right now and you haven't been planning to abuse a bug in order to get one into a sack, this isn't going to affect you and you can stop reading now.
I've been doing a bit of bug fixing this evening with the help of GM Paklin.
First, you were never intended to be able to use the justice system to get a companion from your hand into a sack and then sell/give it away.
Effective immediately, this should be fixed in all instances of DragonRealms.
Second, naturally we have to do something about the stray companions scattered around the game in sacks already.
If you are not a Ranger and/or not the proper owner of a particular companion and you try to interact with it while it's in your inventory, it should now run away. This is currently effective in Prime only, as I want to give it a few hours at least to make absolutely sure that they don't run away when they shouldn't. (Note: If you ARE the proper Ranger owner and it runs off, you should be able to just whistle for it to get it back, but please assist or post to let us know that something went wrong.)
Third, while I was changing it so that the ones who shouldn't exist would run away, I noticed that appraise is incorrectly calling them worthless. This seemed as if it might be damaging to the poor companions' self-esteem, so I fixed it to work as had been intended. This is live in prime and will follow to the other instances when change #2 does.
