To further clarify my question since after reading it I see it could be misunderstood... The two mages aren't sensing the same room in the example, since obviously the higher skilled mage would be sensing more. Comparing the actual messaging they receive independent of where they sensed it is what I am referring to.

So basically lets say you have a 'weak senses' mage in a high mana room, a 'developing senses' mage in a lower mana room, an 'improving senses' mage in an even lower mana room, and a 'normal senses' mage in an even lower mana room. They each receive a message that say they're sensing glowing mana. They basically are sensing approximately the same amount accounting for the degree of resolution to which they're capable of differentiating, yes?

Warrior Mage
You reach out with your weak senses and see dim streams of roiling Elemental mana coursing through the area.

Cleric
You feel that your unwavering faith and devotion is allowing you to detect great amounts of extra Holy mana.
You reach out with your developing senses and see bright streams of golden Holy mana radiating through the area.

Paladin
You reach out with your weak senses and see bright streams of golden Holy mana radiating through the area.

Empath
You reach out with your developing senses and see bright streams of bright blue and white Life mana flowing through the area.

Ranger
You reach out with your weak senses and see dim streams of deep green and blue Life mana flowing through the area.

Necromancer
You reach out with your senses and see blazing streams of black Necromantic mana oozing through the area.

I spoke too soon...

Could we change the messaging slightly for bards to read, "You reach out with your senses and hear dusky streams of harmonious Elemental mana coursing through the area."

I think that would more than satisfy the aural flavour of bardic power perception while still allowing the standard levels of mana to be clearly displayed.
