Hey Special K, looks like Roars can't checking the new AOE cap put in place - Can someone poke it with a stick please?
Your teacher's voice echoes in your thoughts. "The earth is not alive. It cannot truly feel anger. You, however, can." Remembering that lesson and the form of intimidation you must use, you release a low, brutal roar.

Hmm, what cap was that? I do believe they cap somewhere below 20. Been a long time since I wrote that code :P

Spells were recently capped at a maximum of 6 targets, assigned randomly. At least, I'm fairly sure it's 6.

Yeah I'll have to see if it was meant to affect roars too. Different code bases, so a change to core magic would not have affected roars.

>>Pretty sure I have seen both NB and Mind Shout hit more than 6 targets. You sure this wasnt just for damaging spells?
NB is definitely capped at 6 now. It'd be cool if it was capped the same number for roars.
>>I do believe they cap somewhere below 20
I would love if NB could hit more than 6 things again.
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

I believe Mind Shout is also capped at 6, although it's hard to actually build up enough critters to test that at the hours that I play so I only have a couple of data points from before the spell preview ended. Plus, I don't currently know the spell so even if I wanted to confirm I couldn't.

>>I think HyH may get a special dispensation since it requires two separate spells? And HyH itself is a 3 spell slot spell, which is really high.
For what its worth, some of our roars are 3 slots, and, it takes a 4 slot mastery to be able to effect more than what is engaged to you. And, thats not even looking at the 8 ability prereq in the horde tree just to get that mastery.
Re: Roars and AOE caps on 07/09/2014 09:51 AM CDT
A "standard ability/spell" is two slots. Three is expensive but not outrageously so. We have a smattering of four and five slotters across the guilds that we consider truly expensive.

Ya, HyH is 3 slots, and each other spell is going to be 2+ so the costs are probably about the same, I had forgotten the mastery.
>And, thats not even looking at the 8 ability prereq in the horde tree just to get that mastery.
Eh, this one's pointless. Magic users have to scrabble through spells and specific pre-reqs and end up with abilities they don't want etc. same as barbs. They also have to consume ability slots for feats. The two systems are comparable in resource management.
