So the consensus these days everyone seems to be giving up on Leathers, but I seem to prefer them over the others for stealth and RP reasons. So basically my question is for those hunters who use leather at the higher circles. Is it still a viable option? How do you moderate the risk being that leathers dont reduce damage so much? And last but not least I was considering boosting my Stamina to 30 to be able to rebound from those eventual hard hits and is their a point of diminishing return for Stamina.

Well, personally I love leathers because it does give you that mobility and such for dances and the like. However what I hate about them is that the hand and head armor doesn't do a thing.. it's almost the equivalent of putting a napkin on your head in my opinion. So what I ended up doing is buying one of those barbarian faceplates as Heavy Chain, and wear a LC head/hand armor while wearing a nice pair of leathers. I get to keep the leather armor that I like, while having extra protection for my head/hands. Also, it only slightly hinders my movement.

The bonus too, you get to train 3 different armors at once just by sitting there.

Wont I lose all the perks of Leather by strapping on the chain gear? And any thoughts one Stamina question?

Thanks for your advice as well :)

In main leather body armor you won't see this as that big a deal. Right now the best leathers can protect you as much as a suit of heavy chain.

As to lose the perks of wear leather by putting on a few pieces of chain? It will be some reduction in stealth but won't be much that can't be overcome with a bit more training. If you like the stealth aspect of it, just get you a leather mask and gloves to carry arround in your pack and swap out ever, so often. Leather for ranged and stealth, chain accessories for melee combat.

Ok, thanks didnt know that about the body section of leathers. I can throw in some minor chain accessories. So what is your take on the Stamina aspect of my question?

Thanks in advance for all current and future help.

Wear chain. In forged chain armor you can dance completely unhindered. Stamina is good to have but at much higher levels it doesnt really matter currently since critical hits are what usually gets you killed.

Yeah Zoha crits are your biggest fear when u start hunting bigger critters

Malchata, Celpz and flex critters being the biggest culprits to this theory

Yeah, they're just critical hits. No such thing as a Zoha crit anymore.

So I guess avoiding the hit altogether is plan A. Probably shoot for LC accessories, I have been playing this game for years and never had the money to buy forged gear (I am one of those buy shiny things in the moment people) haha. So I basically try to stick with the best of in store bought just so I dont have to worry about losing my gear.

So for now I am going to forego the move to 30 in stamina and work the agility and reflex up to 20 a piece. Thanks for your advice and insight. I will have to rework my "look" to accomodate the chain accessories ;)

I would try to get your stats as even as possible. Never know when a stat will become useful or nerfed.

Also, I have some LC gloves sitting in my vault. With the gloves and helm from riverhaven you should be learning a little LC, HC, and leather.

My warrior mage uses heavy plate, a tower shield, light edge, light thrown, and I do not regret it at all. Especially now that offhand and dirt have come along. Probably the only tin can you will ever see that walks around with a bag full of throwing knives and a smile.

There is nothing wrong with LE. I rather enjoy training it.

Do you guys have issues with a lot of broken swords when using them for Parry? I seem to get some good slices with Curved Kythe from Knife Clan. I have the Stout Short Sword, any other non forged recommendations?

You can still break weapons by attacking with them. Each time you defend or attack with a weapon, you have potential to break it. Having more construction on your weapon just adds to the hit points of that weapons survivability before it completely breaks.

My theory, which may or may not be correct, is that there is a check on impact while parrying or blocking of the creature's weapon construction against your weapon's construction, and if your construction is equal or better, then you will almost never damage a weapon. That is why anything less than fairly sturdy will get beat to hell.

If Redarch is around, he usually brings back a packload of jambiya's and drops them off in front of the Empath guild, aka the crate, in town for anyone to have.

I was originally focusing on weapons with higher puncture stats, is this a mistake. Also any thoughts on the "steel short sword with black onyx"?

Thanks!

Oh, and the Redarch comment, that is in Riverhaven?

I've always been a fan of slicer weapons myself as a barb leave the pigstickers to the backstabbers. It's just opinion but it would seem to me that slicers deal more damage which in turn leads to more learning.

Currently, you will get much better results with slicing weapons and that short sword appraises the same as every other short sword.
