I spontaneously went up in flames today in gryphons while hunting with Useff. Mind you, I had been soaked in naphtha from a box, but I've done this hundreds of times and never once burst into flames. You have to have an ignition source of SOME sort. This is all I saw:
<<* With the speed and temerity of a swooping falcon, a young forest gryphon rakes a set of large, sharp claws at you. You turn aside the claws with a silver-edged broadsword.
[You're solidly balanced with no advantage.]
J>
<<Useff searches the young forest gryphon.
J>
<<Useff assesses his combat situation.
J>
<<The naphtha soaking you bursts into flame with an explosive WHOOOMPH!

No WMs were casting spells nearby and nothing else out of the ordinary occurred. I checked my log twice.

I'm putting this in the bards complaint folder because I want to make sure it wasn't due to any interactions with Harmony. Both Useff and I were singing the enchante when it happened.

If it's not due to Harmony, I would really like to know how a person can go up in flames without any source of ignition, but I'll go complain elsewhere.

Thanks!

Rather than find some people to randomly throw it on, I asked around since I never remembered see it.

General consensus is no, it shouldn't be going off without a trigger.

So, it's either Harmony or something else is broken entirely.

As an aside, I did this while I was hunting. (Singing harmony quiet)

You throw a vial of naphtha at a giant black leucro! The naphtha shatters in an explosion of tiny glass shards and smelly, sticky mixture against a giant black leucro!
Roundtime: 1 second.

Aside from being smelly, nothing happened.

Friction? Static shock? Some substances in real life actually explode if you merely jostle them too hard, where "too hard" can be merely riding in a car on a too-bumpy road.

This is the second time this oddity has been reported. Not sure what is causing it, but it's not Harmony since the other report of a similar naphtha ignition was prior to the release of Harmony. Not sure what's causing it, but will try to figure it out. If it happens again (to any of you), please let me know so we can try to figure out the problem.

Man. Spontaneous combustion, and no one knows what causes it?

Art imitates life, evidently.

The victim was most likely smoking in his easy chair.

She failed to mention she had seven gryphons at melee and was whirling like a dervish. I think she superheated the air around her. It's really a wonder she doesn't burst into flames on a daily basis.

Macfrae frowns at you as he says, "BAH! You already know that enchante. Why make me repeat things for you when you already know the answer? You owe me a beer for this!"

My guess is...

>Down at an English fair,
>One evening I was there,
>When I heard a showman shouting
>Underneath the flare:

>Hoi've got a lo-ve-ly bunch o' coconuts.
>There they are a-standin' in a row.
>Big ones, small ones, some as big as yer 'ead!
>Give 'em a twist, a flick o' the wrist,
>That's what the showman said.

Maybe that's not what was stuck in your head...

Bet you it is now!

Must have been trying to impress Useff by holding in her farts. Next time just let it rip and it'll prevent the spontaneous combustion. Careful though, don't want to be putting holes in the ozone layer either.

ROFL, Ascot. That was, sadly, the first thing I thought of when I saw the spontaneous combustion title as well.
