<<As a frequent raiser, my favor count is pretty much through the roof. Other people might remember Volentri's death spree when he wanted to change his last-favor; I'd prefer it if we didn't have to do that.
That was my concern for a last favor gained based title. Though it is the most logical way of addressing the issue. So if it happens, it happens, and I'll just live with it. Also, you can't support the eastern gods with such a title based system.
I do like the idea of having titles based off the number of favors one has. Maybe like Follower, Fanatic, Saved, Believer, Enthusiast, Believer, Practitioner, Zealot, Devotee, and Patron.
How about Hand of Tenemlor if you have the HoT spell?

Uhm, I believe you mean non-Eastern gods; as the 39 that favors can be gained from are the Eastern gods. Unless I read that wrong?
Oh, I forgot to ask, are we ever going to see Guild/Race titles? For example: "Garidznawk" (Cleric) or "Saranis" (Holy man) for Rakash Clerics; "Chifacha" (Cleric) or "Kekabaga Chatamiki/Yif" (Holy Man/Woman)for Prydaen Clerics; dunno what the Gorbesh words for Cleric or Holy Man/Woman are, but I'm sure there probably are some...

Re: New Titles on 01/24/2007 09:57 PM CST
I highly encourage titles to show religious connotation. A couple things.
A) It would suck if the great majority of the new Cleric titles were deity-related, especially if we saw something like 'Everild's Chosen,' 'Everild's Sword,' 'Everild Faithful,' and then had those three styles for all 39 God aspects and then Simu said 'Yup, Cleric titles are done!' I would much rather a whole new category by made entitled 'Religion' that everyone can access, with some being Cleric-only like some of the Criminal titles are Thief-only.
B) My Barbarian, Bard and (well, all of them actually) are also highly religious. To go with A, an entire Religion category.
C) Choose any immortal like... Be'ort. Everild or Meraud may be one thing, but how many Be'ort followers do we actually have? I would really have to forfeit 40 potentially cool and mystical Cleric titles for carbon-copies of Immortal titles.
D) It would suck even more then C if 38/39ths of the new title releases were unavailable to me. While I can see the potential trouble of someone being flippant and choosing different gods every day when that is supposed to be a big decision IC, I almost think it better to just give everyone access to all of X level titles given they meet the reqs. For example, if the req for the 'God's Sword' title were 300 in all combats and 10 favors, give everyone who meets the reqs access to both 'Meraud's Sword' and 'Everild's Sword' and ever other god. The last-favor system really is way too limiting if it's instituted that way.
Just my four cents. I'd be happy to rack my brain to make suggestions for another two dozen general, non-deity Cleric titles if you need them.
You are Malkien, a dashing Barbarian. Huzzah!
You are Apis, a legendary Cleric in your own head.
You are Ragesong. What sort of Kaldar is a Bard, anyways, doofus?
You are also Pellazan (WM), Essatariol (Ranger) and running out of sig space.

<<list of titles>>
Ahh, I wasn't counting the gender-based ones as two titles, it's all good now.
Dispeller and Mana Unraveller make me giddy. Meraud's Cry might be coming! On the other hand, I'm somewhat disappointed to see none of the undead hunting titles made it. Will we get any titles for HH and FoU besides Phantom Bane? I personally liked Magma Bringer alot, even if FoU doesn't involve lava.
And yeah, Blessed and Ritualist seem wonky. Could a GM check their reqs please?
>>I'd like to second the request for having the titles page updated. There's a lot of neat titles now that I have no idea how far I am from earning.
All of the new ones except Monk were taken from the suggestions in this folder, and from what I've seen, they've used the suggested reqs mostly. One exception I've noticed is Master of Mana, which appears to be much higher than suggested. So you could look back at the suggestions to get an idea.
>>Yummy! I'm suddenly VERY curious about the reqs for the last!

<<I could see this as perhaps being shared with Paladins.>>
You and me both.
<<(Godname)'s Blade>>
<<(Godname)'s Warrior>>
I like these too, for both Paladins and Clerics. We may need a "Deity" category now...::ponder::
<<Definitely include all 39 aspects and don't forget about the Rakash and Pryd gods.>>
Most assuredly.
<<Please, just no (Godname)'s [insert survival title here] a la the Arcane (everything) series.>>
Never. I said something similar over in the Ranger title topic, just not about Cleric titles.
<<I would hope that an "of God" affiliation title be available to all guilds.>>
We can add that to the Deity category, nods.

<<I'd accept it if it were based on last-favor, but I'm hoping that another mechanic can be conceived to handle it.>>
The immediate result will probably be "last favor", but I'm talking with some folks about a way to make it work much much better. I had to clear the idea with the IFE tech to make sure what I wanted to do wouldn't be too much info to store and track and he said we should be ok.
Now we just need a more solidified design and someone to pick it up and run with it. :)

<<One way to differentiate would be for laymen to only be allowed to designate the god they last got a favor for. Clerics could chose any god as their post.>>
Ah very good point there...we actually would be better served if that new system I mentioned only applied to Clerics and perhaps Paladins...
::ponder::
<<What about those who lean towards the Dark or Light Aspects of the pantheon? How about Friar Flavius, Witchdoctor of the Dark? Witchdoctor of the Light? Witchdoctor of the Grey?>>
Well...I'll have to check with Obseden about the "of the whatever" moniker, but I like the idea.
<<How about only clerics could have godly pre-titles, while all others could have godly post titles? That would make for some differentation.>>
::ponder:: Hrm...interesting...
<<Or perhaps there should be one generic non-cleric godly title: Follower of Meraud, Worshipper of Meraud, something like that>>
This is more likely, at least in the short term. :)

"<<Hand of (Godname)>>
<<I could see this as perhaps being shared with Paladins.>>
You and me both.
<<(Godname)'s Blade>>
<<(Godname)'s Warrior>>"
I just want to mention once again my concerns about blurring the lines between clerics and paladins. Meraud's Blade or Kertigen's Warrior seems a fine fit for a paladin or a cleric. Something like Chadatru's Champion would seem like a Paladin only title- to reflect their role as champions. "Hand of Tamsine" though would seem much more like a cleric only title- clerics are the representative and servents of the gods.

Yes. Yes you do. As my room mates and anyone who spoke to me during the week and a half long period when I had enough ranks to circle but couldn't FIGURE OUT THE BLOODY QUEST which I never intend to use and still don't know how to do.
No, I'm not still angry.

The solution to this is obviously to roll up a mule cleric, circle him up to 35th, and test it. <serene innocence>

For those old enough to remember:
Billy-ray was a preachers son
And when his daddy would visit hed come along
When they gathered round and started talkin
Thats when billy would take me walkin
A-through the back yard wed go walkin
Then hed look into my eyes
Lord knows to my surprise
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, mmm, yes he was
Being good isnt always easy
No matter how hard I try
When he started sweet-talkin to me
Hed come and tell me everything is all right
Hed kiss and tell me everything is all right
Can I get away again tonight?
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, lord knows he was
How well I remember
The look that was in his eyes
Stealin kisses from me on the sly
Takin time to make time
Tellin me that hes all mine
Learnin from each others knowing
Lookin to see how much weve grown
And the only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, oh, yes he was
He was the sweet-talking son of a preacher man
I guessed he was the son of a preacher man
Sweet-lovin son of a preacher man
