FYI, I got bored and decided to track the time refresh stays up compared to the mana used. it appears to be based on 275 seconds plus a random number between 50 and 60 times the mana used "time = (mana * (50 plus random (10)))". it's a bit more complicated than that because it's fixed so every spell with more mana WILL last longer than the previous mana slot spell.
spell: mana seconds minutes left over difference minimum minutes left over maximum minutes left over
Refresh 1 329 5 29 325 5 25 335 5 35

R>charge orb 10
You harness some energy and attempt to channel it into your cambrinth orb.
The cambrinth orb resists, only absorbing part of the energy while the rest dissipates harmlessly.
Roundtime: 10 seconds.
R>prep refresh
Since you're not feeding enough power into the spell pattern to make it coherent, you quickly work your way to the minimum required.
You close your eyes and breathe deeply, gathering energy for the Refresh spell.
>focus orb
You focus your magical senses on a cambrinth orb.
The cambrinth orb pulses brightly with Life energy. You reach for its center and forge a magical link to it, readying it for your use.
Roundtime: 5 seconds.
You feel fully prepared to cast your spell.
>cast
You gesture.
Your cambrinth orb emits a loud snap as it discharges the vast majority of its power to aid your spell.
Your spell hopelessly backfires.
>focus orb
You focus your magical senses on a cambrinth orb.
The cambrinth orb pulses faintly with Life energy. You reach for its center and forge a magical link to it, readying it for your use.
Roundtime: 5 seconds.

>focus orb
You focus your magical senses on a cambrinth orb.
The cambrinth orb is dim, almost magically null. A very faint pattern indicates its readiness to absorb Life energy.
Roundtime: 12 seconds.
To me this shows that the Refresh cap is under 100 (since there was still mana left in the orb).
The mana left in the orb has to be over 34 since I can successfully channel 35 mana into refresh 100% of the time AND the amount of mana left in the orb caused me to backfire.
Given that it was just a "backfire" I would deduce that the amount of mana refresh caps at is 50-70; unfortunately....
I charged the orb to ~50 and cast, no mana left in the orb.
I charged the orb to ~70 and cast, no mana left in the orb.
Thus I cannot test any further with my lack of skill :\

and just where did you get this 100 mana orb? they only hold a max of 30. i know, i have an altered orb that was changed to armband so i could wear it on my arm. mana capacity stayed the same and the max it will hold os 30
i've cast refresh at 50 mana over minimum myself and had no problems.
