1)both parties have to know how to link (although I guess maybe this is moot if the student doesn't know how?)

2)both parties have to be close in circle, or at least concentration regen rate, else the class will not last (you will drop the class/stop learning if you don't have enough concentration)

3)only one student per class

4)teacher links empathy, teaches empathy class (per normal teach command mechs), student accepts, and the class forms.

it's very tricky to do, you can only teach one student at a time, the student has to link with the teachers empathy

link person1 empathy

then the teacher has to accept the link

link person2

then the teacher has to teach

teach person2 empathy

there are problems with it though:
if you are very far apart circle wise or skill wise the studen will get big fatigue hits (can counter it with refresh sorta)

and if they don't have much discipline the link will go bad pretty fast as well

When I do it I tend to continually cast refresh on my student. The major trick is the student has to link to the teacher, not vice versa.

It's mind over matter. I don't mind, because you don't matter.

I honestly find these kind of prohibitive when trying to teach very young Empaths -- even if they can maintain the link, the fatigue hits even with Empathy will keep them pretty wiped. I've had kids get completely exhausted before they were even out of the initial RT.

I usually advise very young Empaths who want to be taught Empathy to find an Empath who is only moderately higher circle than they are -- maybe around 10th circle.

This way, the fatigue drain from skill differential will be much less, they'll still learn from the class well. And when the teacher is relatively young, she will be more likely to learn well teaching a single student, so it will be more beneficial to both parties.

And, honestly, being able to learn Empathy in a class is less helpful when you circle up a bit and can drink in wounds at a good clip and heal yourself up faster. I find that "in a class" provides less Empathy learning than either healing people OR perceive health walking. I am mainly pleased that I can now LINK Empathy for Shifting purposes, rather than the teaching aspect.

And, as Arwinia noted, Refresh can be a big help when trying to Link. I don't know about other Empaths, but young Empaths should feel free to ask me for Refreshes if they see me around and find themselves a little tired. :) I also try to Raise Power in the guild periodically, which works particularly well when coupled with Refresh.
