Ok, so I was sitting here thinking about it...and I just realized I have no idea what Empathy skill does the more of it you get.
It seems to me that much of our ability to transfer, transfer more at once, maintain links, and such are all based off Concentration. Which is discipline and circle.
Shifting aside, does Empathy improve resilience or anything?

Pretty hard to only raise Concentration to a significant degree without also raising Empathy, so I don't think there are any real data one way or the other. To do a real test you'd have to bank at least five or six circles' worth of skills and TDP's so you can compare equal levels of Empathy before and after you raise your circle and stats (and thus your conc).
In any case, speaking generally, Concentration is like a choke or a limiter on the skills and ability it effects. It's the ranks in the skills themselves that determine what you can do, so long as your Concentration pool is filled high enough.

It probably helps maintain links and transfer wounds faster. Its hard to say for the reasons already mentioned. I guess the big issue is that it caps so low... by 50th circle, you've got all the empathy you'll ever need. But then, that's a problem empaths have in general.
Perhaps at high levels of empathy you can reduce the severity of the wounds you transfer? Or be able to sense when you're about to destroy your chest and break the link automatically? Not really sure...

It helps transfer wounds faster. This does seem to cap out around 55-60 circles, or at least by that point transfers are so fast there's not much room for improvement left.
It helps with manipulation. Higher Empathy = harder critters you can manipulate. Does anyone honestly think that manipulate depends on Concentration alone and not Empathy?
It helps with shift options, which is easily proven by CJ's. You've only got the tip of the iceberg for shift options at 50th circle, really.
It helps with perceive health. Sophrona sees people seven or eight rooms away (I forget which). Think about how powerful that is... standing in front of the Crossing Empath guild, you could sense the entire town green and the NE gate at the same time, and nearly everywhere in between. At 50th circle you see two rooms maybe starting three? Perc health becomes a truly extraordinary ability once you can sense four or more rooms away.
Empathy helps with all Empath abilities. There's a lot of improvement after 50th circle.

That's not true....yet. I've seen where its a little buggy and seems to drop wounds down one notch (maybe if its riding the line).
I would like to see something like that in the future for when I get up there and healing body after body to lock Empathy becomes trickier.
I do notice the faster transfer...Sypria can sometimes transfer enough to kill herself in one pulse and is forced to use careful or half options.
I guess my goal is Balvbaaris.

Future concentration formula will be based off of Discipline, Intel and Stamina in descending order of importance. I don't believe circle will continue to be a factor, but I forget. Dwarf is probably going to be the best for that with their stat set-up. Something to keep in mind, but if I were a bettin man, I'd say we won't see it too terribly soon.
Current concentration formula per Soim. (Circle + 1) x [(disc/10) + 1] = Concentration. So Dwarf and Rakash.

Thank you. I found myself at home and out of work for the next 5 months recovering from an accident. (Get accident insurance) My wife suggested I start playing again or she will divorce me. :/ I figured the irony of an empath was too hilarious to pass up.

Zeyurn says, "Concentration will be based off of Discipline, Intelligence, and Stamina."
Zeyurn says, "Circle won't play a part."
Zeyurn says, "Stamina is the smallest factor, Discipline the largest."
