1. Is it possible to die by healing your own fresh wound? IE, you have a bad chest bleeder and bad external chest scars, and adding them together pushes the scarring into the fatal realm.

2. Similarly, can eating herbs ever kill you this way?

3. Are nerve and skin wounds/scars ever life threatening?

Lots of thanks to whoever has the answers. ^^

1. Yes it is
2. don't think so because if I remember correctly, herbs don't leave scars
3. nope, not unless a slight bleeder will kill you

I tested it a few years ago trying to push a 'very devastating' scar to 'useless' by acquiring and healing over 100 very severe to devastating wounds on top of that scar, and it would not move past 'very devastating'.

As far as healing people who have them, I wouldn't know. As far as can they kill you? I guarantee they can. Frostbite cast repeatedly will eventually kill critters. Or... it used to. I haven't tried it recently. Last time I cast FrB I accidently hit both my partners giving them skin damage.

I can heal nerve damage until I get the messaging that my nervous system is completely destroyed and it definitely will not kill me. FrB also causes bleeders AND vitality loss. You won't die from healing nerve damage.

the FRB thing is a matter of context. Empaths taking wounds can't take more than completely destroyed, which is a slight bleeder, FRB is in the combat mechanics which makes bleeders worse if they're attacked repeatedly... little difference, big result

FRB doesn't cause direct vitality loss. It would be sick-nasty if it did though.

Waited to see if anyone brought up this point, no one did.

Actually, what Purehand said is true, but it is possible to kill yourself if you've got a pretty bad scar on something vital, and you're transferring more scar on top of it and THEN HEAL THAT AREA'S FRESH WOUND (some one tell me how to bold please), BEFORE the scar gets transferred over. I.e., you're at very severe chest ext. fresh and scar, probably from an invasion or tourney, start healing someone's scar that should take you to very devastating (knowing how far to push it), but then forget (because it's me), and heal the fresh down to harmful, putting me at a...devastating? ext. scar with enough coming in from a transfer to kill me.

I've killed myself this way maybe 4-5 times or so. It's not common, but does happen. Again, usually in an invasion when there's lots of destroyed body parts, and a lot of noise from just general triage activities.

And Souv, herbs leave scars (people actually...USE herbs?) Lose the weight, pay an empath (with boxes, preferably)

* bold * (without the spaces) bold see?

I use herbs all the time to augment my healing so it doesn't take as long for my script to run (IE wasting my cam script on minor wounds)

love the sig by the way

If you're thinking of the bug with transferring chest wounds, I'm pretty sure that's a separate issue. For some reason extremely severe chest wounds seem to like to transfer occasionally in a single pulse. No idea if that got fixed.

I thought that was because people were using the "quick" option when it first came out and didn't understand that it really meant quick...

I. Chest death awaits

You gesture at yourself.
Your chest is free of all internal wounds.

*Kilsharkra was just struck down!

(rest of death message)

Either it's fixed or its just a novice thing. I haven't managed to do it since I hit 30 stamina.

though honestly I've been cycle casting to avoid it.

Any idea what your vitality was and if you were staunched? I'm wondering if you took a vit pulse before you were able to complete the cast.

like I said, i've actaully been avoiding this, I could do some testing.

though generally i'm at full vitality, no pulses.

full vit, full spirit.

Cast, Boom, dead.

This was before I had bs or vh.

Though 'death awaits' usually means your half a pulse from dying, so the hit may of stacked just under the cast, causing the death.

You can tell if it was vitality or destroying something. Either before or after your death should be a message saying something (usually chest, back, abdomen, or head) got destroyed. If not, it was a vitality death, from bleeding, poison, or disease.

So if you've got logs, go look.
