Well, I had a system all worked out for training my stats, and I waas liking how they were turning out, but then the new exp system came out putting Int and Dis on a log scale, and I don't know how my somewhat overtrained mentals come out. My old system is a complicated ratio of tdp sums between each stat. Every time I circled, I trained a point of Int, and Sta, Dis, and Wis depended on Int, and Str and Cha depended on Sta, and Agi and Ref depended on Str.
Gist is, I circled yesterday, and I don't know whether to continue to train mentals as hard as I was.
Race: Elf
Guild: Empath
Circle 52
Strength : 22 Reflex : 22
Agility : 20 Charisma : 30
Discipline : 27 Wisdom : 34
Intelligence : 37 Stamina : 28
Favors: 29
Concentration: 196 Max: 196
TDPs: 254
Going by my rules, I'd train another Int, Wis, and Dis.

I wouldn't take Wisdom past 40. Definitely not past 50.
I'm a sucker for Discipline. And Intelligence is always nice.
I wouldn't train wisdom in this case b/c I can't stand odd numbers.

Your system sounds way too complicated.
I always train mentals by feel. If it feels like I'm locking my main skills too quickly, I train some intel and disc. If it feels like they're draining too slowly, I train some wisdom. at 79th circle, wis, disc, and int are all 36-37 for me and everything is humming along nicely. In fact for the first time I don't see anywhere to spend my TDP's right now.
Not sure what circle you are these days, Kaeta, but it sure looks like you're set for intel and wisdom for a while. If I were you I'd raise disc to match wisdom before working the other two any higher.

Dwarf, discipline and stamina with a healthy dose of mentals.
Get the four basic healing spells and Refresh as soon as you can. From there, snag BS, FP, and CD in that order. That's all you really need to function as a basic healer. From there it's just a matter of personal preference.

gortog. They have a really mean stamina progression. Prydaen are fun, but my prydaen is more like an elothean with fur compared to the gor'tog I have going. The strength is great, too, but completely wasted until the shock rewrite comes out.

I think gor'tog is out because of the poor mentals.
I agree with Dwarf being the best race for an Empath on paper.... but then you're stuck being a Dwarf. :P

Dwarf would probably win out in end-game, DEPENDING, on how you plan on training. If I were to extrapolate out to what I would want my stats to be, Dwarf ends up consuming far less TDP's; with Rakash in a close second. But like someone else already said, you'd be a Dwarf :-P
Really, its personal choice. If you're going to pour tdp's into agility/reflex (which I don't)...another race might win out (I don't feel like checking).
For a healer and healer-only type, stamina training eventually becomes trumped by GoL and Refresh. The system has limits.
Even transferring near-lethal wounds in one swipe onto every part of your body, you reach a maximum amount of lost fatigue. This may not always be the case, and wound severity during transfer may change...who knows.

It might be a bit safer if a young raccoon was dead first.

<I think gor'tog is out because of the poor mentals.>>
It definitely hurts. I made my racial/guild choice for RP reasons, and I don't regret it. Gor'Tog Empaths are fun. But getting over the mental hurdle is painful.
It figures that the one stat I get a ridiculous training bonus to (Strength) is one of the least important for Empaths.

Stamina is certainly critical for an Empath, but I have always kept strength up there too. It helps reduce the burden of all the junk I carry around ;)
IMO mentals are paramount. There are certainly strong RP reasons to pick one race over another, but if you're talking about optimizing your training, you must have strong mentals. Good mentals means faster EXP absorption, which means more TDP's, which means you get to raise your stats even higher.

I've always been one who creates the character first and then worries about how to actually make it work later. I've never been a numbers player in any way, so I say...go with the race you're most drawn to! If you like your character, you'll play your character and that gets you ahead of the game better than anything else.

I agree with Reexa. I have Kaldar, Human, Elven and Rakash Empaths and I like to play them all. I just can't make myself play a Dwarf. It's just not a race I'm interested in. (Yes, I have a zillion characters. I can't make myself pick "just one".)

I know its late going back to this topic, but I just got back. I've been playing a gnome empath for years and I must say I love it. The stamina hit hurts, but once you learn to constantly be given RT for accepting a gem, its alot of fun. Nothing quite like watching that Tog barbarian scream for help and have the wee little gnome he pretented to like to eat a few anlas back save his life without missing a stride.

In case you didn't hear already, gnomes can now carry a lot more weight. The additional racial penalty to encumbrance has been removed. Gnomes everywhere rejoiced!
You are carrying between 100 and 200 items on you.
Encumbrance: None
Gnomercy!
