Hi Empaths of Elanthia.
I've been contemplating how I, as a Paladin, can assist folk where and whenever I can.
The last invasion I took part in showed, to me at least, that the "Vessel of Salvation(VOS)" spell was and can be
a help to both Empaths and the newly resurrected. For those who are unaware of this spell it A) allows a
Paladin to donate his/her own life force into a sphere which then harbours it until it collapses. The Paladins
own life force can be renewed any time by an Empath and thus greater amounts stored in the sphere. B) allows
others to draw on the life force within the sphere to supplement any shortfall they might have.
With a Paladin working with a couple of Empaths we found we could maintain both the Paladin's health and the VOS
for significant periods. The Paladin is able to monitor the sphere by means of focus and thus can state when
a replacement sphere is due so that the old sphere can be drained(the new sphere being empty at creation)
So it appears this might be of some benefit when dealing with folk who have "totaly run out of Life Force".
Now the point of this missive, I have no desire "to step on anyone's toes" nor "stick my oar in where it's not wanted"
healing folk, whether it be taking wounds or increasing Life Force is an Empath matter and they are not a group of folk
I wish to upset, so instead of debating this matter when a situation is occurring I thought I'd raise the matter here
and ask for your views. I would hope that, as a Paladin, I might be on hand to raise Holy Mana for any Cleric but the
matter of VOS,in a non emergency triage situation, I feel should be discussed.

My kingdom for some type of auto-squelch system. Call it the 'chaos filter' where everything gets stripped down to bare bones information in pulses or something, when presented with 500 lines per second of data, like quests, invasions, auctions, etc.

Re: Paladin Assistance on 10/15/2014 03:03 PM CDT
as much as I agree with the sentiments here(not sure how much help I'd be in that scenario just yet), my original reference was to times when bodies are dragged in to Crossing and healed by the Empaths prior to them being resurrected. I just don't want to say to someone "help yerself to the Life Force in the sphere" and have someone else tell me "it's the Empaths job to heal folk". I suspect that, like the Paladins ward and bond glyphs, VOS was primarily meant for use in the field.
When I first used it in triage it was because there was an invasion going on and I wasn't good enough to be fighting. Like all such time folks seem to accept what help is offered but I wasn't sure that attitude would prevail when it was quiet.

<<Yeah. Is there even a squelch feature on SF?
SF has a squelch option, but it doesn't have a lot of resolution. IIRC, you can only squelch entire lines completely. Useful in some situations, but there's not a lot of stuff that you want squelched 100% of the time and you can't squelch half a line. It's also not very easy to switch them on and off if you only want them squelched in certain situations. (Requisite 'Genie does all this easily' statement goes here.)

I have never seen any Empath complain about buffs, even ones that affect vitality. They might complain if you healed people's wounds, because that deprives them of empathy experience, but since vitality healing isn't a significant source of empathy experience, I doubt anyone would care about that. Also keep in mind that the main goal of triage is to get wounded fighters and support personnel back in action as quickly as possible. Training (and Empath etiquette in general) take a back seat to this goal.
Besides, Vessel of Salvation can also help Empaths manage their own vitality.
Some other ways that Paladins can help in triage:
• cast Courage (buffs stamina and therefore vitality/fatigue recovery)
• cast Banner of Truce (protects triage from invasion forces)
• bond weapons
• ward (if no Cleric is available or the departed has no favors)
• glyph of mana (for Clerics)

Glyph of Mana is so great (and it also can boost Paladin's Soul if there is a cleric there with a dead body).
Generally speaking, just try to be a help. See what works, don't be worried about trying to talk to people, maybe go to the bar celebration afterwards (sometimes the defenders want to celebrate victory, ask people what they think could have helped).
For me Glyph of Mana, when I'm running my cleric my biggest thing I need is more Mana, I may just be inefficient with mana. But that seems to slow my down, ahh I can't resurrect because I don't have enough mana to get the rejuvs out and hold up this rezz spell. I like resurrecting though, for me one of the coolest things my Cleric can do.

<<Yep, you can make a script which will add all the invasion squelches (called gags) that you want, and then disable it by re-loading the original list or making an undo script.
Or just create a class called invasion, label all your appropriate substitutes and gags as such, and macro a key to toggle #class invasion on/off.

I'm fairly sure that Glyph of Mana and Meraud's Commune overwrite one another or at least don't stack. Still, it is always worth a shot! I know the first thing I do upon walking into Shard's Triage center during an invasion is commune. Not that I need the mana, but 'eh. Someone might.
