Leather hood plus cloth robe, pants and gloves:
You are wearing a storm grey hood, a pair of dusky-grey cloth gloves with silver buckles on the wrists, a pair of dusky-grey thick cloth pants cut to fit around a boot and a black cloth robe with a dark grey belt hanging loosely.
If you were only wearing a black cloth robe with a dark grey belt hanging loosely your maneuvering would be unhindered and your stealth would be unhindered.
But considering all the armor and shields you are wearing or carrying, you are currently unhindered and your stealth is lightly hindered.
Add an arm-worn buckler:
If you were only wearing a black cloth robe with a dark grey belt hanging loosely your maneuvering would be unhindered and your stealth would be unhindered.
But considering all the armor and shields you are wearing or carrying, you are currently insignificantly hindered and your stealth is lightly hindered.
Leather Armor: 30 38% clear
Cloth Armor: 40 23% clear
It works great, just don't get hit :)
You feel certain that a black cloth robe with a dark grey belt hanging loosely appears to impose light maneuvering hindrance and offers:
fair protection and low damage absorption for puncture attacks.
low protection and poor damage absorption for slice attacks.
high protection and good damage absorption for impact attacks.
low protection and poor damage absorption for fire attacks.
high protection and good damage absorption for cold attacks.
good protection and fair damage absorption for electrical attacks.
Seers sense, CoL plus good shield and evasion make it workable actually.

Stealth. That little bit of protection can help even if it's only slight when you happen to screw up.

You could also go with an impact-centric critter progression. Something like rats/frogs to goblins to meadow rams to thunder rams etc. Only thing is you'd have to worry about shield damage. When you get to higher levels you can also add in some cold-attacking creatures like frostweavers.
Personally I'd go leather on the vitals (head & torso, but coats protect better than breastplates so I'd include arms as well) and cloth on the legs & hands. But hey, more power to you if you want to go as close to all cloth as you can.

Could it be the hood that's adding the hindrance though?
Really I was just making an educated guess.

This is where I admit my lack of understanding how armor works...
So, the point of training armor is to train down the hinderence penalty heavier armors impose, ya? But, will someone with 200 ranks of LC get more protection then someone with 250, 300, 400 ranks of LC? I've trained my hinderence down to light with a full set of fairly low weight LC. What's the point of more ranks in an armor when you've trained the hinderence penalty down?
I know this: if life is illusion, then I am no less an illusion, and being thus, the illusion is real to me. I live, I burn with life, I love, I slay, and am content.

The protection rating keeps going up. At 0 ranks you're not getting any of the protection value out of a piece of armor (only the absorption). Rumor has it that every 200(or is it 100?) ranks after 200 ranks in armor you're effectively getting 1 extra app level of protection from the armor you're wearing, you just can see it.
Oh and TDPs.

For anyone curious as to which armors they should train base on specs...
All cloth + buckler:
You are wearing a forest green quilted hood, a black-leucro mask, a forest green quilted shirt with narrow white stripes, a crocodile-skin buckler, some green quilted gloves and some forest green quilted pants with white piping down the legs.
But considering all the armor and shields you are wearing or carrying, you are currently lightly hindered and your stealth is insignificantly hindered.
All leather + buckler:
You are wearing a perfect bison-hide cowl, a crocodile-skin buckler, some perfect firecat-skin leathers and some perfect bison-hide gloves.
But considering all the armor and shields you are wearing or carrying, you are currently lightly hindered and your stealth is lightly hindered.
All light chain + buckler:
You are wearing a full chain helm, a black-leucro mask, a crocodile-skin buckler, some mail gloves and a polished black hauberk.
But considering all the armor and shields you are wearing or carrying, you are currently lightly hindered and your stealth is fairly hindered.
Mixed leather & chain + buckler:
You are wearing some mail gloves, a crocodile-skin buckler, a full chain helm, some perfect firecat-skin leathers and a black-leucro mask.
But considering all the armor and shields you are wearing or carrying, you are currently lightly hindered and your stealth is lightly hindered.
380 light chain
380 leather
480 cloth
500 shield

>I'm hoping some decent cloth armor will be available through fest or tanning soon, I'd love to try a cloth/leather setup.
Me too. But I'd be more willing to bet that the fest will just have the same armor with different descriptions and no cloth armor creation systems will be in place until the mech split. sigh

That's pretty low hindrance considering shield and mixing penalties. What guild?
