[13:08] Miskton says, "There have been a number of new changes in the web of fate lately, though unfortunately none of them are particularly pleasant."
[13:08] Traim asks, "Mind Shout?"
[13:08] Atazai says, "Gotta keep my workers in line, they were starting a scuffle."
[13:08] Miskton says, "And changes is, perhaps, exactly the right word, as much of what I've seen lately has involved visions that had first been seen some time ago, but lately have begun to change."
[13:09] Miskton says, "Though perhaps I should start with one other thing, before the sun rises. For anyone who has been keeping on eye on the constellation of the Wolf, you may have noticed that the cloud surrounding it has continued to encroach on it. That process continues, and the light from the stars seems to be growing dimmer."
[13:09] Miskton says, "Perhaps just because of that cloud in the way, perhaps not."
[13:10] Atazai says, "I'm hoping magic will vanish for a bit."
[13:10] Zynara asks, "It seems more covered, yes?"
[13:10] Atazai says, "It's so abused. I'm just saying. Teach some people some good life lessons."
[13:10] Miskton says, "Last I'd heard, there was still no word on what, if anything, that cloud might portend. There are apparently no records of anything similar happening."
[13:12] Miskton says, "Whatever is going on up there, though, I would wager that it's not done yet. The cloud still seems to be approaching, so it will likely get worse before it gets better."
[13:12] Miskton says, "Anyway, as for the visions..."
[13:13] Miskton says, "I've noticed one new vision recently, as well as three that have changed since they were first observed. I think I'll begin with the ones that had been seen previously, but in slightly different forms."
[13:13] Traim quietly asks, "Anyone mind if I smoke?"
[13:13] Miskton says, "Doesn't bother me."
[13:14] Zynara says, "Enjoy..."
[13:14] Traim says, "These are visions worth smoking for."
[13:14] Miskton says, "Now, the original form of this vision was..."
[13:14] Saragos says to Traim, "The only thing you'll get from me is envy."
[13:14] Zynara says, "The barbarian flame keeps the air circulating."
[13:14] Miskton says, "Silvery threads stretched delicately in every direction forming an impossibly complex web. A particular strand caught my eye as it began to smolder."
[13:14] Miskton says, "When I see it now, however, I see..."
[13:14] Miskton says, "Silvery threads stretched delicately in every direction forming an impossibly complex web. A thin haze of smoke overlay the vision as several nodes slowly smoldered."
[13:15] Miskton says, "Whatever's happening, it appears to be advancing."
[13:15] You say, "It sort of reminds me of the wolf, with the cloud and smoldering, at least."
[13:15] Zynara asks, "Much like that cloud over the wolf?"
[13:15] Atazai says, "More people are using teleological magic, or people are using more of it."
[13:16] Atazai says, "Breaking Fate."
[13:16] Atazai says, "Changing the weave."
[13:16] Miskton says, "That's one likely seeming possibility."
[13:16] Zynara says, "That's an interesting take."
[13:16] Miskton says, "Which does not mean it's unrelated to what's happening with the Wolf, though."
[13:16] You say to Atazai, "I think it's more accurate to say damaging, than just changing."
[13:17] Atazai says, "The changes would lead to damage."
[13:17] Miskton says, "This one might be worth looking back at in a bit, as well, once we get to the new vision."
[13:18] Miskton says, "The next vision, when I originally saw it, I experienced..."
[13:18] Miskton says, "Six towers of light sprang into being about me. They were aglow with chilly starlight, solid and seemingly eternal. Yet as I watched, fissures, dark as the void, spiderwebbed through each of them, causing one to explode in a shower of searing fragments."
[13:18] Miskton says, "The remainder resisted. For a time. Until the top of another tower imploded, leaving naught but a ragged stump behind."
[13:18] Miskton says, "The remaining four continued to struggle, though the fissures were now a vast network of absolute darkness, until, they too, could stand no more and crumbled into motes of dying light."
[13:19] Dahaita exclaims, "Gryphon!"
[13:19] Zynara says, "The gryphons are seen here occasionally."
[13:19] Kintryn quietly says, "Please excuse me folks."
[13:20] Miskton says, "The newer form of the vision is much the same, however it now begins with only five towers, and then only three left to crumble away at the end."
[13:21] Atazai says, "Well."
[13:21] Trieo asks, "Could the five towers represent the five provinces?"
[13:21] Atazai says, "Tiv blew up."
[13:21] Miskton says, "The general consensus seemed to be that the towers represented the moon mage guild in some way, and given the destruction of the Fortress of the Crystal Hand, the change in the vision would seem to support this interpretation."
[13:21] Atazai says, "That would remove one."
[13:21] Atazai asks, "Three more huh?"
[13:21] Miskton says, "Though I would have thought that the explosion would have been what was represented by the destruction of the first tower in the vision."
[13:21] You ask yourself, "Is it the guildhalls, or the guildleaders?"
[13:22] Ceranora quietly says, "Guildhalls, I would guess."
[13:22] Atazai says, "I always go for people first, in value."
[13:22] Atazai says, "A guildhall is just some material bleh."
[13:22] Redeth quietly says, "Five different types of magic."
[13:22] Redeth quietly asks, "Are there not?"
[13:22] Zynara asks, "Some of the other visions may also lead to this vision as well?"
[13:22] Atazai exclaims, "Different types? I don't think they are ...oh!"
[13:22] Atazai says to Zynara, "Thanks."
[13:23] Traim says, "I'm inclined to think halls. In our case, they are far more than brick and mortar. They are the symbols of our unity. The guild's power."
[13:23] Atazai says, "Ah, import brandy, that should be decent."
[13:23] Traim says, "It's one thing to assassinate a guildleader in their sleep. Something else entirely to knock down the entire hall."
[13:23] You sadly say, "I don't like either of the options."
[13:24] Atazai says, "But Guildleaders can be chosen and the unity live on, easier than materials can be made awesome in my eyes."
[13:24] Redeth quietly says, "The Empaths would beg to differ."
[13:24] Miskton says to Zynara, "And yes, it's possible the next vision ties into this one."
[13:24] Atazai says, "But you're probably right. My disregard of the Guild's definition of Fate makes me bad at visions."
[13:25] Miskton says, "The fact that the searing explosion apparently does not represent the destruction of the Fortress of the Crystal Hand does lend some weight to the guildleader interpretation, I think."
[13:25] Zynara says, "Sorry for the lateness of the drinks.. was hoping the scepter holders would arrive."
[13:25] Miskton says, "Tiv wasn't... killed, exactly. He's just... gone."
[13:26] Atazai says, "Tiv knew some stuff, we don't know what, but we know he knew...? Um..."
[13:26] Zynara asks Miskton, "Do you ever think we'll know for sure where he went.. or if he's going to return?"
[13:26] Traim asks, "Wait, back up a second, friend. Why does the explosion not represent the end of the Crystal Hand guild?"
[13:26] Kiriti says, "Will be sure, when he returns."
[13:26] Traim asks, "Didn't the number of Towers drop by one?"
[13:26] Miskton says, "It did, but it's the starting number of towers that decreased."
[13:27] Ceranora quietly says, "I would think, since Tiv isn't dead...the explosion would represent the guildhall, not the leader."
[13:27] Zynara asks, "Is it possible it's not the guildhalls, but the sects?"
[13:27] Ceranora quietly says, "That too."
[13:27] Miskton says, "That's also a possibility, yes."
[13:27] Atazai says, "I never think of the Sects as any kind of 'tower'."
[13:28] Atazai says, "Yurts and basements and stuff."
[13:28] Traim says, "A good point."
[13:28] Traim says, "But we can't always ask for things to be literal for us."
[13:28] Truix distractedly says, "Did the vision mention an 'explosion' or an 'implosion' of the towers? I remember Tiv leavin' with an 'explosion' of the Fist."
[13:29] Truix carefully asks, "Curious whether the mention of 'implosion' cues us to how the next would go?"
[13:29] You ask, "What do the six towers of our crest actually represent?"
[13:29] Atazai asks, "THems that signed the Pact, right? So that kinda would be sects?"
[13:29] Redeth quietly asks, "Of which who was one of the leaders?"
[13:30] Traim says, "Tiv, yes."
[13:30] Traim says, "If there was a theme to them, I believe it's the destruction of the unity of the guild."
[13:30] Miskton says, "It was an explosion that destroyed the Crystal Hand Fortress, but the removal of either that, or Tiv, is what I believe causes there to be only five towers in the vision. And then of those five, it would seem one explodes and then one implodes."
[13:30] Traim says, "Whether it's literal or not."
[13:30] You say, "The monks of the crystal hand."
[13:31] Traim says, "The loss of Tiv and the monk hall, and I may overstate this considerably since he was my master, will be difficult to recover from for the council and guild."
[13:31] Traim says, "Internal infighting has ever threatened our guild."
[13:31] Miskton says, "As for whether we'll see Tiv again, I'm not certain. But if we do, I think I might be more concerned about whether it's still actually Tiv."
[13:33] Miskton says, "There wasn't exactly an opportunity to ask him, but in those last moments before the explosion, I think Tiv was trying to call on the Arbiter in Darkness for assistance. And I think he succeeded, and it paid off... but I think he also had to pay a high price for it."
[13:33] Atazai says, "This isn't a time for my hair brained Grazhir theories, but the amount of energy of the Fist erupting could have let him get somewhatwhere else, like the Dragon coming from the other not-really-side of the moon."
[13:34] Atazai says, "That would fit with how I think the Moons are just stoppers in front of conduits."
[13:34] Traim asks, "What do you think the payoff was, Miskton? The Arbiter's assistance against what Dergati was doing?"
[13:35] Atazai says, "Against those that change Fate."
[13:35] Miskton says, "And what Pelag was doing. Possibly with Dergati, though that's far from clear."
[13:35] Traim says, "A fair reading I think, probably right."
[13:35] Miskton says, "Unfortunately, it seems that it didn't entirely stop him."
[13:35] Atazai asks, "We know the Children have a Shard right?"
[13:35] Zynara says to Miskton, "Which is eerie considering the change in the Peleg vision."
[13:35] Traim says, "I think the payoff is yet to come."
[13:36] Atazai says, "If they have a Shard, the Pelag would probably more upset over them than us."
[13:36] Atazai says, "And would maybe like some help, a bargain."
[13:36] Traim says, "I doubt he makes a distinction."
[13:36] Traim says, "Pelag that is. We all offend him, all prophets."
[13:37] Ceranora quietly says, "I think Pelag just hates anyone that enters "his" realm."
[13:37] Miskton says, "Well, since we're on the subject now, Pelag is the focus of the next vision that has changed..."
[13:37] Miskton says, "Originally..."
[13:37] Atazai says, "Yeah, but you tolerate the common breaches of Law, though you police them, but when the superbad destroy everything arrives, things change."
[13:37] Miskton says, "A figure suddenly appeared before me, that of a skinny Human with pale skin and short red hair. His hands were awash with blood that slowly pooled around his feet as he stood motionless. His eyes slowly focused on me and a slight sneer crept onto his face."
[13:37] Miskton says, "Something felt wrong about this vision, though I was unable to identify the source of my unease."
[13:38] Miskton says, "Now, though, instead of the vision ending in silence, he speaks to the seer..."
[13:38] Miskton says, "So easy. So foolish. One has already fallen and we've barely begun. Go ahead, look towards your prophecies. This only ends one way."
[13:38] You ask, "...who is 'we'?"
[13:39] Traim says, "An incredibly important question."
[13:39] Zynara says, "Begs one to determine exactly what sort of entity Peleg is."
[13:40] Zynara says, "I must talk to the caterer."
[13:40] Traim says, "He is the embodiment of Fate. Nera named him and her naming was not ambiguous. Whatever entity he is or was, she pinned him with meaning. Servant of Fate."
[13:40] Miskton says, "A previous vision indicates there are some differences of opinion amongst the beings of that plane, but that doesn't mean there aren't any who agree with Pelag."
[13:41] Miskton says, "Or, of course, there's still the possibility that Pelag did strike a deal with Dergati, somehow."
[13:42] Traim says, "A lot for them to find in common. The All-Seeing god and the all-seeing...Pelag."
[13:42] Miskton says, "As for the one who has fallen... even if he's still walking around, I think that likely refers to Tiv."
[13:42] You say to Truix, "I'd pass it over but the librarian seems to be angry about it."
[13:43] Miskton says, "The 'prophecies' he refers to, though, that seems worth looking into."
[13:43] Miskton says, "Not a great deal to go on, but some research might turn up something that seems to fit the circumstances."
[13:44] Traim asks, "Could he also refer to the prophecies we have in hand, the destruction of the Towers?"
[13:44] You say, "I still wonder what the Akul'tiz prophecy actually said..."
[13:44] Zynara says, "The last time we heard the use of that word predominately was when the Akul'Tiz prophecy came out or am I missing some."
[13:45] Miskton says, "Of course, since there's evidence that Pelag found a way to interfere with our prophetic links during all of the stuff that happened with the Akul'tiz, I'm not inclined to take him at his word. Well, that and plenty of other reasons."
[13:46] Traim says, "He has an arrogance that the path forward is set. Perhaps justified."
[13:46] Atazai asks, "Am I still the only one that gets stunned in the Microcosm?"
[13:47] Miskton says, "I have still yet to experience that."
[13:47] Zynara says, "It happens to me occasionally."
[13:47] Traim says, "I have not either."
[13:47] Atazai says, "So just men are left out. Good."
[13:47] You say, "I did once, quite a few months back, but then not since that visions meeting where we noticed the pillars acting up."
[13:47] Zynara says, "I am not sure about that part.. but it has only happened to me a few times."
[13:48] Atazai asks, "I missed the Chrysalis stuff. Was there an actual prophecy or anything?"
[13:48] Miskton says, "Yes, though I'm not sure anyone ever actually dug up the full text of it."
[13:49] Zynara says, "There were visions.. then the Ulfhara Keep was blown up.. then a few more visions.. then I think that's when the Chrysalis hatched and all the hells broke loose."
[13:49] Miskton says, "Presumably there are some Dergati worshippers out there who know it, but they haven't been forthcoming."
[13:49] Zynara says, "We still have not been made aware of what happened to the troops which were guarding that area."
[13:49] Atazai says, "Ah. True. I'll have to ask some."
[13:50] Zynara says, "Haven't much talked to Stilva since that whole mess in the Dirge mines."
[13:50] Atazai says, "Oh ah. That's who I just located."
[13:50] Traim says, "The gods' influence in prophecy has always been suspicious and unreliable to me. I think they are one of two avenues I know of that can change the lay of the field."
[13:51] Atazai says, "None of this sounds like something Tiv could benefit in dealing with."
[13:52] Zynara says, "I think that the last of the newer visions ties them all together a little, but it's still quite vage."
[13:52] Zynara says, "Err vague even."
[13:52] Atazai asks, "Do people know if the Children are down with Dergati, or the other way around?"
[13:53] Traim asks, "Why would you assume either?"
[13:53] Atazai says, "I'm not! I'm asking."
[13:53] Traim asks, "The Shrew?"
[13:53] Traim says, "That's the Children's symbol."
[13:53] Miskton says, "Well, speaking of the Children... I do think it's possible that the newest vision does tie together the others I spoke of."
[13:54] Miskton says, "An elderly Elf, angular of face with silver-flecked eyes, gazed out over a forest landscape. His vision seemed locked on a distant mountain peak. "I will need to answer this, you know. They won't. They lack the resolve."
[13:54] Miskton says, "A quiet voice behind me replied, "They'll blame us. They've never understood, even the few who try."
[13:54] Miskton says, ""Let them. It changes nothing."
[13:54] Miskton says, "I've been told that the description of the Elf in that vision matches that of Karosti."
[13:55] Miskton says, "I'm not certain which mountain that might be in the vision, unfortunately."
[13:56] Ceranora quietly says, "Too vague to really know which."
[13:56] Zynara asks, "Is it likely what remains of the fist?"
[13:56] Miskton says, "I'm not certain, but that seems possible."
[13:57] Miskton says, "If they can get into the ruins of the fortress, there may be all sorts of things which survived in there and can be recovered."
[13:57] Ceranora quietly asks, "Any guess who "they" might be?"
[13:57] Miskton says, "I assume the 'they' being spoken of refers to the moon mage guild."
[13:57] Traim says, "If the mountain is the lost guild."
[13:57] Ceranora quietly says, "That makes sense."
[13:57] Traim says, "If it is the Mountain in the more symbolic sense, viewed from Leth, it could be the Mountain Elves."
[13:58] Traim says, "The latter is a stretch of an interpretation, but given Ralel's activity lately, it may be something that we cannot rule out."
[13:58] Zynara says, "You know my first instinct on this vision a sense it meant southerly."
[13:58] Atazai asks, "What's the question?"
[13:58] Atazai asks, "Or problem?"
[13:58] Miskton says, "I think 'answer' might be in the sense of revenge, in this case."
[13:58] Redeth quietly says, "If it helps with the interpretation, the adan'f are...behaving oddly."
[13:59] Redeth quietly says, "At least of late."
[13:59] Atazai says, "Well, if people won't understand, it could be a "for the better good to destroy Guild power."
[13:59] Atazai says, "Maybe the Guild is the problem."
[13:59] Zynara says, "Maybe that one doesn't tie the others at all, but is a completely separate impression, and the others are set to divert us from the most important of the group."
[13:59] Miskton says, "If it is the Fist that he's looking at, perhaps Karosti feels that Pelag's actions need to be answered with force."
[13:59] Atazai says, "But that would be understandable."
[13:59] Traim says to Miskton, "That is my thinking, in a sense."
[14:00] Miskton says, "I'm sure he doesn't care about the guild, but I'm not sure what his feelings are toward beings like Pelag."
[14:00] Traim says, "The only real threat to Pelag is a threat to the Web of Fate itself."
[14:00] Traim says, "Our guild has not, and will not, risk the Web for a fight."
[14:00] Traim says, "Karosti will."
[14:00] Zynara asks, "Didn't the children attempt to sever the tie with the plane?"
[14:00] Traim says, "I see it as a gamble. Karosti means to give Pelag the only threat Pelag will respect. Destruction of his construct."
[14:01] Traim says, "Which is obviously terrifying to our guild, and any seer with a half a mind."
[14:01] Traim says, "But that's just my take."
[14:01] Zynara asks, "And how much of a right mind do these types seem to have.. historically speaking?"
[14:02] Traim says, "My understanding is Karosti is best described, by those that experienced the side effects of his fights the last time, as completely insane."
[14:02] Zynara says, "Lovely."
[14:02] Atazai says, "My first thought was culling of the Guild. We would never understand."
[14:02] Traim says, "A true prophet would never understand risking prophecy itself for a fight with Pelag."
[14:02] Atazai says, "When the government becomes corrupt, in someones eyes, and too powerful. You cut it down to size."
[14:03] Traim says, "Unless you're going to lose anyway perhaps, if you don't take that path."
[14:03] Atazai says, "If the Guild is all whacked out, to him, blow some of it up."
[14:03] Atazai says, "For the greater good."
[14:04] Redeth quietly says to Traim, "Unless that prophet could see that the only way to save reality. I fear what the Necromancers may unleash not half so much as what the Moon Mages could unravel."
[14:04] Atazai says, "You guys are all major metaphysical, and here I am trying to define it with politics."
[14:04] Traim says, "I think Pelag is beyond politics, Atazai."
[14:04] Zynara says, "Okay.. this vision the speaker says they will have to answer this.. because "they won't."
[14:04] Zynara says, "They" lack resolve."
[14:05] Traim quietly says, ""We."
[14:05] Traim says, "I think."
[14:05] Zynara asks, "Who do we suppose the "they"... folks like us? the guild leaders?"
[14:05] Atazai asks, "Other Children?"
[14:05] Redeth quietly says, "Generally speaking...the Moon Mage guild has never been a bastion of solidarity. You have different ideals, sects and direction. You can't build a single tower from six, nor build it while those six dominate the area."
[14:06] Zynara says, "Or, five, as it were."
[14:06] Traim says to Zynara, "If it is Karosti in this vision, and he does mean to answer, then it would make sense that it is moon mages that are not willing to practice his type of warfare or magic that he calls "they."
[14:06] Traim asks, "After all, is he wrong?"
[14:07] Atazai says, "The Children and the Pelag wouldn't have the same end in mind. One using one, or both using each other. And then like, right at the end, each tries to POW! Make it fit only for them, thanks for the help."
[14:07] Traim asks, "How many moon mages do you know that would be willing to risk their foresight?"
[14:07] Atazai says, "I would."
[14:07] Redeth quietly says to Atazai, "I'm not entirely sure you're sane."
[14:07] Atazai says, "Cause everything I do was obviously Fate anyways."
[14:07] Traim says to Atazai, "You're not exactly representative of the guild mainstream."
[14:07] Atazai says, "That's fair."
[14:08] Zynara says, "No.. that's true.. but that isn't a completely off the mark way of looking at it."
[14:08] Atazai says, "You can't turn the tides."
[14:08] Zynara says, "Maybe each of those visions are from their perspectives only..."
[14:08] Zynara says, "One being the Children and one being Pelag.."
[14:09] Zynara says, "New class folks.. listen to Traim."
[14:10] Traim says, "All of our readings up to that point assume it is Karosti, and assume that it is moon mage related."
[14:10] Zynara asks, "And maybe the third.. the towers.. because doesn't that one portend another one or more towers at risk?"
[14:10] Zynara asks Traim, "What is this Ralel person up to?"
[14:10] Atazai says, "Maybe Tiv went in with the Fighter."
[14:10] Traim says, "We don't know. Only that he was spotted with a number of shadowy cloaked folks in Leth."
[14:11] Traim says, "As if he was giving orders."
[14:11] Traim asks, "Mist, remember more details about that?"
[14:11] Atazai says, "She writes it all down."
[14:11] Zynara says, "Which if it was him.. gazing at a mountain."
[14:11] Zynara says, "Might be that."
[14:11] You say, "One of them was a woman, that he showed a measure of respect to."
[14:11] Zynara says, "Err that..."
[14:11] Redeth quietly asks, "Respect or deference?"
[14:12] You say, "It was only the farewell, so it was hard to say."
[14:12] Redeth quietly says, "Likely equals then. It is hard to wave when you're saluting."
[14:12] Traim asks, "So the question on that reading seems to be, what would the Mountain Elves need to answer? Or Ralel?"
[14:13] Zynara says, "I can hardly think that the Mountain lacks resolve."
[14:14] Traim says, "Certainly not. But if it was the Mountain speaking. Ralel is virtually confirmed to have ties there."
[14:14] Zynara asks, "Or does he possibly mean the rest of his people or whomever he is working with?"
[14:14] You say, "There have been some questions as to the nature of the Ice Archons and Telga Oreks on Wyvern Mountain... but that leaves the 'they' open for some debate."
[14:14] You quietly say, "And also, the disappearance of our commander..."
[14:15] Zynara asks, "How long ago did he turn up missing?"
[14:15] You say, "It has been a few weeks now."
[14:15] Zynara asks, "Was it about the time these visions started surfacing?"
[14:15] Traim says, "Certainly a point of inquiry for Ralel's involvement."
[14:16] You say to Zynara, "A bit after, I think."
[14:16] Traim says, "Another thing worth noting is that Lindryl, a long time court member of Zoluren, was killed in the Crossing Keep blast. She was once Ralel's wife."
[14:16] Traim says, "Something else possibly to "answer."
[14:17] Zynara asks, "Possible that the "They" are the Elpalzi leadership?"
[14:17] Miskton says, "They certainly have plenty to answer for."
[14:17] Traim says, "I don't know that Ralel or the Mountain, either of them, would be concerned about the elpalzi not understanding them, or lacking resolve."
[14:18] Zynara says, "Well would seem to me, that the they might then bet the Elothean Court."
[14:18] Traim says, "That may very well be."
[14:19] You say, "Elpalzi are invading Crossing."
[14:19] Traim says, "The Mountain is, after all, blamed for many, many things. Not often understood. And if anything, I think we can say the Mountain has resolve many other places may not."
[14:19] Zynara says, "Good grief."
[14:19] Miskton says, "Well, I think we've covered everything I had to go over."
[14:19] Traim says to Miskton, "What are your thoughts, friend? You generally tend to cut through my chafe with a sentence or two when you feel warranted."
[14:20] You say to Miskton, "Thank you for having a meeting for us today."
[14:20] Miskton says, "Some interesting ideas all around, really. I'll have to think on things for a bit, and I'm glad I took notes."
[14:20] You say, "And thanks to the Guard, the house is amazing, and all the events have been great."
[14:20] Zynara says to Miskton, "Thank you again for coming to moderate..."
[14:20] You say, "I'm going to set a beam outside and head south."
[14:20] Zynara says to Miskton, "It helps keep some continuity for us all."

I'd just like to take a moment to thank everyone for hosting, running, attending and posting about these meetings.

That's all.

Oh, and it's always fun to watch you scramble to figure things out. I'm always surprised not only by what you get wrong (As has oft been noted, players tend to want to connect every ongoing event in the game together) but by what you sometimes catch on to far faster than expected.

>Silvery threads stretched delicately in every direction forming an impossibly complex web. A thin haze of smoke overlay the vision as several nodes slowly smoldered.

Seeing this vision of nodes smoldering reminded me of a lecture Mozzik gave a few years ago on the nature of Fate and the ideology of nodes as he understood them...

[Observatory, Third Level]
A twisted framework of oak timbers and brass machinery nearly fills the room. At its center, the tremendous tube of a weer crystal telescope slants upward at a slight angle toward the dome's center, splitting the air like a precarious steel pillar gone askew. A thick glass lens extends a small space beneath the scope's circular base. You also see a simple box of gifts, a misshapen Shadow Servant, a pool of black shadows, a pool of grey shadows, a pool of grey shadows, a pool of grey shadows, a pool of grey shadows, a pool of grey shadows, a serving table with some stuff on it, a sign, a donation shelf with some stuff on it and a small bubbling cauldron of viscous gloop.
Also here: Maklohri, Artificer Nilassa, Anjaline, Ascendant Kyenchiro who is sitting, Moon Mage Emerik who is sitting, Mathematician Kashik who is sitting, Traveler Jhaval, Rault, Omen Speaker Mozzik, Student Mekra who is sitting, Vairie who is sitting, Tezirite Holloway who is sitting, Benpar, Philosopher Rieum who is sitting, Magus Malzard.
Obvious exits: east, south.

Mozzik says, "I am the Fateweaver Mozzik and I welcome you all to this evening's lecture." He paces before the crowd as he continues, "Tonight's topic is Fate and the manipulations thereof. What we speak of is not an exacting science, such as lunar magic and Enlightened Geometry, but it is a science none the less. There are rules, there are rewards, and there are... consequences."

Mozzik says, "Here is a brief outline of what I will be discussing tonight, those who find it too daunting or uninteresting are welcome to find an easier subject of study - such as the refreshment table."

Mozzik says, "Firstly I will outline a general understanding of what Fate is, and how it works." His gaze slides slowly over you, silently challenging you to make a break for the drinks. "Once done with that brief subject we'll move on to an introduction to prediction methodology, and wrap up with a discussion of the common forms of divination and their individual quirks and perks. Questions will be answered to the best of my considerable abilities during intermission and at the end of the lecture, and only at those times. Anyone who cannot hold their questions until then is welcome to direct them to Kssarh. I m sure he'll understand your impatience."

Mozzik says, "That out of the way, let us begin the lecture proper. If I ask you what two plus two is, you'd best be able to answer four. If I ask you what color Yavash is, the answer is red, or crimson, or a similar hue and if these are not your answers I fear for your next moongate. These are definitive answers, and Grazhir-born abominations aside, they do not change."

Mozzik says, "Now I ask you, what is your favorite food? You should be able to provide a definitive answer to this question, be it cherries, waffles or grog. However the answer I am given from one of you will likely disagree with the answer from another, but neither is invalid."

Mozzik says, "However what if I was to ask you what is the color red? You can tell me things that are red. You can tell me what is not red. You can tell me where red appears in a rainbow. You might even tell me how to create a red object from things that are not red... but what is red, in its essence? Anger? Hate? Passion? All of these can be associated with red, but again... they are not what red is. We know it is real, we know its nature is unchanging, and yet it can only be described within a context. Each person is likely to approach the answer from a different direction, and there is no definitive answer."

Mozzik asks, "I ask you now," as he paces slowly before the audience, "what is Fate?"

Mozzik says, "What I am about to describe is Fate as I know it. This is not the answer you will get from Lomtaun or Kssarh, and certainly not Mortom. You will not find it in any book - as I have not yet put my thoughts to ink. This is not to disparage the answers from these sources, they are worthy of study and offer great insight, but what we deal with is a personal question and thus I can only provide my personal answer. If you take what I say as absolute truth without question you will be failing yourself as a student of Fate."

Mozzik says, "In order to discuss Fate meaningfully we need to observe four axioms." He ticks the axioms off on his fingers as he continues, "Firstly; all things are subject to Fate. This includes the Immortals. One may question if Fate predates the Immortals or if it is their creation and yet they have become bound to it through some mechanism. However the question is irrelevant because the answer is unknowable by mortal minds and the consequences the same in either case."

Mozzik says, "The second axiom is that free will exists. If it does not then choice is nonexistent and this entire discussion is pointless and you may all go home early. I will touch more on this point in a moment."

Mozzik says, "The third axiom is that Fate is the force that causes actions. Fate dictates what actions will be taken and when. Fate has no involvement in creation or destruction, beyond dictating when and where they must happen."

Mozzik says, "The fourth axiom is that Fate exists on the Plane of Probability alone despite the fact that its influence extends well beyond that plane. The reasons for this are unclear, nonetheless it is doubtlessly true. This too I will expand on momentarily."

Mozzik says, "An observant student may note that the second and third axioms seem contradictory. I assure you, they are not."

Mozzik says, "Given this context we can describe the structure of Fate. As implied in the fourth axiom, this will involve a brief discussion of the nature of the Plane of Probability. A full discussion of that topic would easily double the length of this lecture, and I believe we can all agree that would be unwise."

Mozzik says, "The Plane of Probability is a bizarre place where shadow takes form and substance. In a very literal sense shadow is reality there. Everything from that plane is utterly unlike anything you have ever known or experienced from the Plane of Abiding, as those who have encountered its shadowy denizens will attest. Those of you who have not had that particular experience would be lucky to remain ignorant. The important thing to remember is that the rules you know about existence Do Not Apply. Further complicating the matter, we do not know the rules that replace them."

Mozzik says, "Within this chaotic mass of shifting, tangible shadows exists Fate. As such I am forced to try and explain an alien concept in mundane terms that are not only insufficient but inherently wrong. Nevertheless, I will make the attempt, but do not expect true understanding if you have not yet delved into Fate yourself."

Mozzik says, "Fate is a web of infinite scale and dimensions." He slowly traces a strand of the tattoo on his left arm from fingertip to elbow as he continues, "Everything in existence has a path it will travel through Fate. Think of a finite thread within this web, one for every person, every animal, every Immortal, every plant and every rock. Each has a beginning, and an end, but between those points it is tangled with a near infinite number of other threads. Every place these threads meet is an interaction, a rock you step on, a person you meet, a breath you take."

Mozzik says, "If you believe you can picture the scale I am speaking on, you are wrong. Accept that it is beyond comprehension and move on. The small snippet of Fate the mind can deal at a time is still so layered in complexity as to be indescribable."

Mozzik says, "Furthermore each thread is made up of numerous strands that provide further definition. The simplest of objects may only possess a single strand, a plant hundreds, an animal thousands, a person millions, and an Immortal a million million strands. These strands rarely run the entire length of the thread, weaving in or out of existence as needed."

Mozzik says, "Now that we have a structure for Fate, I must address the ever present debate of free will. There are points in Fate that will occur. They give rise to the general shape of Fate and the course of events for all of history and all that is to come. They are unchanging and certain. We shall refer to these as nodes within Fate. It should be noted what I speak of here is not a simple intersection of threads, though that can be a node, but of a more complex idea that does not fit into our simple metaphor."

Mozzik says, "Again, an observant student will note what I just described relates to the third axiom, and seems in direct violation of the second. A clever student will have riddled out why these are not contradictory." He indicates with two fingers a pair of connected intersections on his arm. "The path."

Mozzik says, "Nodes are certain and unchanging. The path is malleable and ever changing. This is where free will resides."

Mozzik says, "Furthermore, it is unknowable in Fate what is path, and what is node. We can conjecture, for example, the sundering of Grazhir was almost certainly a node of epic proportions, but this cannot be stated with absolute certainty."

Mozzik says, "What may be thought of as a major event, for example the recent slaying of Prince Vorclaf, may simply be the path in Fate to a greater node that is to come. Or it could be the node itself. A minor event, such as stopping to pick up a copper, could delay you so that you meet a man you otherwise would have never met. This man could go on to show you a path through life you would have otherwise not considered, and while traveling that path you touch thousands of lives."

Mozzik says, "But who would see such an event as a node before hand? Is it the node? Or was meeting the man the node, and the copper simply the path through which that event happened? What if it was neither? Fate operates on grand scales and we are but a brief flicker in its existence. The answer is that we cannot know what is path, and what is node."

Mozzik says, "We. Cannot. Know."

Mozzik says, "If there is one thing you need to take away from this lecture, it is this; every moment of your life you must believe and act as if you are on a path. Take your life in your own hands and do the best with it you are able. If you are wrong, and you are instead at a node in Fate, you've lost nothing. Despite the fact that our lives are ruled by Fate, we must live as if it did not shape our lives at all."

Mozzik says, "I shall give you all a few roisaen to ponder that essential truth. I will take a few questions on what we have covered so far while the rest of you stretch and refresh yourselves before moving on to the applied portion of the lecture; prediction."

Mozzik asks, "So - Questions?"

Vairie shakes her head.

Kashik asks, "You speak of nodes as unavoidable facets of Fate: destined certainties that can't be avoided. What reason have we to believe that anything in Fate is so certain, that there are nodes at all?"

Mozzik says to Kashik, "A good question."

Mozzik says, "And a hard one to answer, since as I pointed out we must assume free will and that we are on a path."

Kashik says, "Thank you, Mozzik. That is high praise from you."

Kashik bows to Mozzik.

Mozzik says, "The best evidence I can offer for the existance of nodes is more a philosophical argument then one of hard evidence."

Mozzik says, "But then, that could describe most of this lecture."

Mozzik says, "If Fate does not have nodes, it has no greater structure, no skeleton to build on."

Mozzik says, "All would be in constant flux and chaos."

Mozzik says, "However, that is an argument through analogy, which isn't a very strong argument."

Anjaline raises her hand.

Kashik says, "I see your point. I'm willing to accept nodes, then, at least for this duration, so that I might understand your lecture."

Mozzik says, "Another argument is that if all could be changed in Fate."

Mozzik says, "There ceases to be some satisfactory rational behind some of our past tragedies."

Mozzik nods to Anjaline.

Anjaline says, "I don't speak as well as you all do...so my question might sound very simple."

Mozzik says, "That's quite alright."

Anjaline says, "Is it possible for one person's path to uhm..."

Anjaline ponders.

Mozzik winks at Kashik.

Anjaline asks, "Say, overtake another person's path?"

Mozzik asks, "Overtake?"

Anjaline asks, "Coersion of some sort?"

Mozzik says, "I'm not sure I entirely follow the question."

Anjaline says, "We have paths, and the nodes..."

Mozzik asks, "Are you asking if say - someone could take another's place in Fate?"

Mozzik asks, "Or force their Fate into a different path?"

Anjaline says, "Something like that, yes."

Anjaline says, "Force their Fate onto yours."

Mozzik nods.

Mozzik says, "I think I understand what you are getting at."

Mozzik says, "Assuming we are on a Path, as we must assume, it is possible to change someone else's Fate."

Kyenchiro says, "Probability hijacking? That's a novel concept."

Mozzik says, "The degree of which varies. That's more in the second part of the lecture."

Mozzik says, "If you mean more that... say Malzard there was fated to marry Caelumia."

Mozzik says, "And we wished to avoid this fate could we instead force Kssarh into that role."

Mozzik says, "I would say it's not quite that straightforward."

Malzard chuckles to himself.

Emerik says, "Kssarh probably wouldn't want to marry Malzard anyway."

Malzard wryly says, "I am ignoring this, of course."

Malzard serenely gazes right through Mozzik, as if he does not exist.

Kyenchiro snickers at Malzard.

Mozzik says, "All the strands are entwined, and it seems logical to me that Fate could be manipulated so that Kssarh took the place of Malzard."

Mozzik says, "But it wouldn't be a simple replacement."

Anjaline says, "Yes, more of an overlay."

Anjaline looks thoughtfully at Mozzik.

Mozzik says, "Theoretically I suppose it's possible."

Anjaline grins at Mozzik.

Anjaline says, "Thank you."

Anjaline grins at Mozzik.

Anjaline says, "Thank you."

Mekra says, "And I couldn't imagine a happier couple."

Mozzik says, "However it would be beyond the fairly simple manipulations that we're going to speak of here."

Mozzik says, "And for the record I was talking about Kssarh and Caelumia, not Kssarh and Malzard."

Mozzik says, "Though I now have another horrible image in my mind."

Mozzik asks, "Any more questions before we continue?"

Mozzik says, "Alright then."

Mozzik says, "Prediction." His gaze slides over the audience before settling on a lightly snoring member. With a sharp clap and a command to "Wake up!" he continues as if nothing was amiss, "Now to put theory to practice."

Mozzik says, "Most believe that prediction is an inherently supernatural process - it is not. For our purposes we will discuss four general types of prediction. A true Seer is a master of them all, and you would be unwise to discard any of the methods simply because they have a mundane explanation."

Mozzik says, "The first form of prediction, and most basic, is cold reading. In essence this is the ability to determine seemingly unknowable information about a subject through observation of mundane traits - how the subject speaks, how they dress, their body language and countless other tells. The art has a poor reputation since it is considered a simple charlatan's trick, but while there is nothing supernatural about cold readings, the observational skills required can be considerable and the gains monumental."

Mozzik says, "The second form is extrapolation. This is another mundane technique, and while it shares much with cold reading, it has escaped the poor reputation. Essentially extrapolation is applied scholarship; looking at past trends and historical events to determine the most likely course of future events. Again, it sounds simple, but it is not and the knowledge gained through this technique is frequently straightforward and clearly applicable unlike prophecy."

Mozzik asks, "Which brings us to the third form. Prophecy is knowledge about the future gained through a supernatural method - usually our connection to the Plane of Probability, however it can also arise from other sources, most commonly divine inspiration. There are two essential things to realize about prophecy; it is inherently passive and it requires interpretation. A Seer who divines the future observes it and does not change it. However prophecies are often shaped in words of warning. Why is this?"

Mozzik says, "To understand we must remember that prophecy comes from a source greater then ourselves; rare indeed is the prophecy that is clearly stated and uncorrupted through transmission, and this is the most simple and elegant explanation for prophecies that go unfilled." he smirks slightly before adding, "Well and charlatans."

Mozzik says, "Interpretation of the prophecy is needed, and the future that is seen is not necessarily the future that will manifest. Yet if the existence of a prophecy influences the shape of events to come, how is this a passive act? The answer is that the existence of the prophecy is accounted for by Fate and subject to the same node and path argument we've already discussed."

Yey thanks for sharing that Skaen. I'd tried looking for that log again earlier when some questions came up about the webs!

> (As has oft been noted, players tend to want to connect every ongoing event in the game together)

The way I see it, we have a big puzzle spread out, but the cat jumped on the table and then some twerp has hidden most of the pieces. When we get stuck, we take the pieces we have... even if the colors don't exactly match, and still see if the edges line up. Just in case. Sometimes, just because there's not a lot else to try till we find more pieces.

I like to imagine that the popping sound of PD is kind of like the fire swamp.

Oh I understand why it happens, and no one is to blame - it's human nature and whatnot. But it does lead to some amusement and occasional frustration.

Glad to hear it's all appreciated! And I'd also like to throw in my thanks to the Theren Guard for providing an additional venue, Mistanna for logging, and for everyone who attends. It makes things a lot more interesting to have some other thoughts and feedback, rather than just having me sit there and throw out my first thoughts about what something might mean.

Also, thanks to Skaen for that other log. That was an interesting read.

And on the note of connecting every ongoing event in the game together, that just makes me think we need an Elanthian equivalent of Art Bell. :)

Zynara was at the bin in Langenfirth contemplating recent happenings and the like, when a long lost presense was felt after a very long and unexplained absense.

You gesture.
You can just make out the details of Tiv's location but don't recognize anyone else there:
[Lava Path, The Stone Stairway]
A large stone staircase winds its way down the front of the volcano, carved into the face of the rock. A glimmering crystal formation to the west seems to catch the scarce light, glowing with a scintillating aura.
Obvious paths: east.

Immediately she made made her way to the general location. Following is what happened afterwards:

[Lava Flow, Esouvar's Rest]
The signs of ancient battle mark the area. A tall statue, at least thirty feet in height, towers far above the parched landscape. Eyes of faceted blue crystal sparkle brightly from the ash-streaked marble face.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: east, northwest.

Guildleader Tiv goes east.

You stroll east.

[Lava Flow, Way of Swords]
Ashes and dust coat the stone wall, covering the rock with a granulated layer of grey that abates only near an inset bronze plaque. A sparkling crystal hand is attached over the polished metal, also clear of the choking dust.
You also see a polished black stone bench.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: east, west.

You curtsy to Tiv.

Guildleader Tiv goes east.

You stroll east.

[Lava Flow, Wall of Swords]
The volcano of the Lesser Fist looms over the barricade. It ominously shadows all below it. A glimpse of something reflective glints from near the maw of the fortress.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: south, west.

You exclaim, "Guildleader!"

You blink at Tiv.

You get an odd feeling that someone is watching you. It quickly passes.

Tiv glances at you.

You ask, "You have returned to us?"

You blink at Tiv.

Guildleader Tiv goes south.

You stroll south.

[Lava Flow, Wall of Swords]
Wooden panels in the fence are carved into the jagged images of swords and weapons from lands far and near. The barbed metal partitions holding them together make touching the wall a most unpleasant thought.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: north, southeast.

Guildleader Tiv goes southeast.

You stroll southeast.

[Lava Flow, Wall of Swords]
A tall barrier lines each side of the road, bladed edges topping the polished wooden beams that compose the wall.
You also see a dust-covered archway in the wall.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: east, northwest.

You ask, "May I assist you in some way?"

You say, "We have been so worried."

Tiv blinks.

You see Guildleader Tiv Guildermann, a Human Moon Mage.
Tiv has frosty white eyes. He is bald, with pale skin and an emaciated build.
He appears to be archaic.
He has a scruffy growth of stubble on his face.
He is in good shape.

He is wearing a cut-crystal hand wrapped around a cracked amber jewel and a tattered white linen robe that hangs loosely about his frame.

Tiv scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

You ponder the meaning of Tiv's existence.

Guildleader Tiv stumbles east.
You sigh.

You stroll east.

[Lava Flow, Path of Jade]
Prickly, spine-covered bushes grow close to the ground. Ripe red fruit tauntingly dangles from behind long, sharp thorns.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: southeast, west.

Guildleader Tiv stumbles west.

You stroll west.

[Lava Flow, Wall of Swords]
A tall barrier lines each side of the road, bladed edges topping the polished wooden beams that compose the wall.
You also see a dust-covered archway in the wall.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: east, northwest.

You get an odd feeling that someone is watching you. It quickly passes.

Master Moon Mage Renucci just arrived.

Tiv studies the faces around him.

Renucci gazes at Tiv.

Guildleader Tiv stumbles east.

You ask, "Sir.. please?"

You ask, "Do you not understand what I say?"

You peer quizzically at Tiv.

Tiv says, "...chelmor..."

Tiv shivers.

Guildleader Tiv stumbles southeast.

You stroll southeast.

[Lava Flow, Path of Jade]
An elaborate golden stand is firmly bolted to the stone of the road. Remnants of a jade-green glass sphere lie in sharp slivers on the surrounding grass. Bits of coarse vegetation grow between the pieces of glass.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: southeast, northwest.

Tiv scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

You say, "Okay.. what to do."

You fret.

You wring your hands nervously.

Tiv asks, "... chelmor?"

Guildleader Tiv stumbles southeast.

You stroll southeast.

[Lava Flow, Path of Jade]
An ornate jade plant rests amidst a circle of pale white stones. Each leaf is delicately carved from the blushing green stone. Despite being covered in filth, it remains a beautiful work of art.
Also here: Traim and Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: east, northwest.

Tiv studies the faces around him.

Traim says, "Master.."

Traim says, "You're alive."

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

You say to Traim, "Maybe you can make him understand you."

Traim gazes at Tiv.

Tiv yells, "Chelmor!"

You say, "He keeps saying chelmor."

Guildleader Tiv stumbles east.

Traim walks east.

You stroll east.

[Lava Flow, Path of Jade]
Slender jade obelisks mottled with dust and ash stand guard over the narrow road. The way is clear, footprints from recent travel constantly being worn over one another in the soft earth below.
Also here: Cyiarriah, Traim and Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: southeast, west.

Cyiarriah nods politely.

You ask, "He's cold?"

Traim asks, "Anything else?"

Master Moon Mage Renucci just arrived.

You get a bright blue velvet cloak embroidered with a rampant gryphon from inside your watersilk pack.

Your concentration slips for a moment, and your spell is lost.

You offer your velvet cloak to Tiv, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.

Renucci waves to Cyiarriah.

Cyiarriah waves to Renucci.

Tiv chants in a tenor voice:

"Avtai
Avtoma
Avtai"

You whisper to Traim, "I think he's speaking Gamgweth"

Guildleader Tiv stumbles southeast.

You stroll southeast.

[Lava Flow, Path of Jade]
Flecks of shattered jade lie strewn amidst the rough gravel of the road. Images etched into the flat panels of rock that were once a busy street are now worn to nothingness, their patterns long forgotten.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: south, northwest.

Traim just arrived.

Cyiarriah just arrived, leading her group.

You whisper to Traim, "Can you speak to him in the tongue?"

Tiv mutters something into the air about arthelun.

Traim asks something in Gamgweth.

Your offer to Tiv has expired.

Cyiarriah raises an eyebrow.

Tiv gazes at Traim.

Traim asks something in Gamgweth.

You put your cloak in your watersilk pack.

You get an elegant black journal embossed with silver stars from inside your watersilk pack.

Tiv blinks at Traim.

You gaze at your journal.

You ask, "What of the star?"

Tiv says, "Seord... arthelun."

Guildleader Tiv stumbles south.

Cyiarriah trudges south, leading her group.

You stroll south.

[Lava Flow, Path of Thorns]
The masses of thorny growths thin to the north. Wrought iron sculptures where vines of roses once grew stand bare, metal corroding and long untended. The eerie shapes stand like hollow souls over the dead ash-covered earth below.
Also here: Master Moon Mage Renucci, Cyiarriah and Guildleader Tiv who is lying down.
Obvious paths: north, southeast.

Tiv rises to a kneeling position.

You gaze at your journal.

Tiv dusts himself off.

Tiv adjusts his linen robe into place.

Tiv stands up.

You say, "Oh my word."

Tiv studies the faces around him.

Traim just arrived.

Traim asks something in Gamgweth.

Tiv scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

You ask, "My dictionary is not fast enough to give me the answers.. something about a dark trail? and a star?"

Renucci gestures at Tiv.
Renucci's cambrinth armband emits a loud snap.

Traim says something in Gamgweth.

Traim says, "He has said cold, star, dark, lava."

Traim says, "Perhaps more."

You ask, "The Wolf?"

Tiv shivers.

Traim says, "The Arbiter."

You raise an eyebrow in Tiv's direction.

Renucci removes a deeply hooded cloak of black silk lined in deep scarlet from his shoulders.

Your body is mostly dry now.

You get an odd feeling that someone is watching you. It quickly passes.

Renucci offers Tiv a deeply hooded cloak of black silk lined in deep scarlet.

Traim says, "Certainly the first thing that comes to mind when I think of cold star and Tiv's recent run-ins."

Tiv yells, "Lyodin!"

Tiv cackles!

Traim frowns.

Traim asks, "Who is foolish, master?"

Cyiarriah looks with concern at Tiv.

You raise an eyebrow in Tiv's direction.

Renucci says, "Me."

Renucci taps a deeply hooded cloak of black silk lined in deep scarlet that he is holding.

You say to Renucci, "Then I join you in being foolish I guess.. I attempted the same."

You sigh.

Tiv says, "Avren gweld..."

Tiv exclaims, "Gweld... gweld. Gweld!"

Tiv gazes down at his hands.

You blink at Tiv.

Traim says, "Moon death..."

You ask, "Death?"

Traim asks, "Tiv, what do you see?"

You fret.

Tiv exclaims, "Chelmor. Avren chelmor!"

Traim says, "The cold moon."

You feel less aware of your environment.

Traim frowns.

Tiv spins around!

Renucci scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

Traim says, "Moons go cold maybe..."

Traim searches around for a moment.

Tiv scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

Sebrahn whispers, "He looks... strange."

The air shimmers for a moment as Sebrahn's spell ends and he becomes visible once more.

Renucci shudders.

You nod at Sebrahn, in complete agreement with his views.

Renucci says, "None are up right now."

Renucci drapes a deeply hooded cloak of black silk lined in deep scarlet around his shoulders.

Sebrahn whispers, "Does he seem alright?"

You say to Tiv, "You need sustenance..."

Traim asks, "Did the Arbiter do this to you, master?"

Renucci gets a flagon of loony moonie grog from inside his backpack.

Renucci says, "Might make him mor loony."

Renucci grins.

Renucci gestures.
Renucci's cambrinth armband emits a loud snap.

Sebrahn removes a polished bronze armband inlaid with cambrinth horned owls from his upper arm.

Sebrahn puts his armband in his fetish pouch.

You say, "He's emaciated.. I can only imagine where he's been there wasn't a banquet."

Traim says, "Look at his eyes."

Tiv grabs Traim by the arms and stars at him unblinkingly before suddenly shoving him away again.

Sebrahn cocks his head.

Traim frowns.

Sebrahn asks, "Why do you speak as if he can't hear you?"

Traim says, "Tell us how we can help, Tiv. You even look like him."

Cyiarriah frowns.

Cyiarriah says, "He's like those miners."

You say to Sebrahn, "Because thus far he has not understood a word I've said."

Tiv ponders.

Renucci says, "Whos' to say he don't understand."

Tiv gazes towards the sky as if searching for something.

Sebrahn nods to Renucci.

You say, "True enough."

You nod politely.

Renucci says, "Maybe it's us whom are to be evolved."

Renucci gestures at Tiv.

Traim asks something in Gamgweth.

Cyiarriah rests her hand on Tiv's arm with a soft smile.

Renucci puts his grog in his backpack.

You say to Cyiarriah, "Is this how the miners looked? I did not see one."

Tiv points at Sebrahn.

Tiv says, "Avren."

Tiv points at Traim.

Tiv says, "Avren."

Tiv points at you.

Cyiarriah says, "It's how they were described."

Tiv says, "Avren."

Cyiarriah looks at you and shrugs.

Tiv points at Renucci.

Tiv says, "Avren."

Tiv points at Cyiarriah.

Cyiarriah says, "Talking... not making sense..."

Tiv says, "Gweld."

Cyiarriah ponders.

Tiv points at himself.

Tiv says, "Sanuso."

You blink.

Traim says, "We were moon. The non moon mage was death."

Traim says, "He is the diviner."

Cyiarriah frowns.

You frown.

Traim asks, "Arbiter...you are still there?"

Traim stands near Tiv.

Tiv says, "...ormo."

Renucci says, "All the moons went below the horizon not too long ago."

Traim says, "Disaster..."

You fret.

Renucci shudders.

Renucci says, "I don't want to hear about disaster."

Traim asks, "Is the disaster related to Pelag?"

Traim asks something in Gamgweth.

Tiv points at himself.

Tiv asks, "Avren?"

Tiv points at himself.

Tiv asks, "Gweld?"

Traim says something in Gamgweth.

>You perceive Lunar magic clinging to Tiv.
>The following magic is on Tiv:
> Clear Vision (which should last for a while)
>Tiv has no spell prepared.
>Roundtime: 3 sec.

Traim says something in Gamgweth.

Traim frowns.

Renucci says, "The Moons falter cause your death."

You get an odd feeling that someone is watching you. It quickly passes.

You say, "You still maintain lunar energy, and from what I can tell, ye'r not dead."

Renucci peers quizzically at Tiv.

Tiv ponders.

Cyiarriah says, "How did you survive..."

Tiv gazes off into the distance seemingly focused on nothing.

Cyiarriah says, "Where..."

Cyiarriah ponders.

You nod to Cyiarriah.

Cyiarriah rubs her head.

Renucci nods at Cyiarriah, obviously agreeing with her views.

Renucci pats Tiv on the back.

You feel fully prepared to cast your spell.

Tiv says, "Aldam."

You blink at Tiv.

Renucci raises an eyebrow.

Skaen just arrived.

You glance at an elegant black journal embossed with silver stars.

You nod graciously at Skaen, giving him a polite smile.

Renucci asks, "Aldam?"

Traim asks, "The Servant?"

Tiv chants in a tenor voice:

"Ormo
Aldam"

Skaen smiles at you.

You whisper to Skaen, "I tried to find you but you were sleepin'"

Renucci gasps!

Traim says, "Disaster and the Servant."

Traim nods.

Yavash's influence rises as it moves further into conjunction with Katamba.
You sense an overall increase in Lunar mana.

You nod to Traim.

Renucci says, "No He survived in the Servant."

Traim says, "Can you help, master? Can we help? We saw visions of the Arbiter helping you. Answering you."

Renucci gestures.
With nothing more spectacular than a soft grunt of surprise, a sluggish Shadow Servant appears.

Renucci points his thumb at a sluggish Shadow Servant.

Renucci jumps back from a sluggish Shadow Servant!

You ask, "A disaster in fate?"

Renucci peers quizzically at Tiv.

Tiv cocks his head towards Traim in a rather birdlike fashion.

Renucci paces back and forth.

Tiv suddenly takes note of the Shadow Servant and flinches away.

Guildleader Tiv stumbles southeast.

Cyiarriah trudges southeast, leading her group.

Skaen glides southeast.

You stroll southeast.

Traim just arrived.

Skindancer Sebrahn just arrived.

A sluggish Shadow Servant trudges in, following its master.

Traim says, "Keep out the shadow creatures. The Arbiter would not like them."

Tiv glances at a sluggish Shadow Servant.

Guildleader Tiv stumbles east.

A sluggish Shadow Servant disappears.

Skaen glides east.

You can't go there.

Cyiarriah trudges east, leading her group.

Skindancer Sebrahn goes east.

You stroll east.

[Lava Flow, Path of Thorns]
A heart-shaped wrought iron sculpture is overgrown, writhing vines coiled around it. The thick spike-like thorns appear to pierce the center, the sharp points gleaming with moisture.
Also here: Skindancer Sebrahn, Master Moon Mage Renucci, Cyiarriah, Skaen and Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: east, west.

Traim just arrived.

Traim says, "Dismiss the shadow servant."

Renucci ponders.

You whisper to Traim, "aldam is fate, ormo is disaster?"

Traim says, "The Arbiter is a being of light. They share a plane, but probably not real friendly, or at least it doesn't seem like they like being around each other."

Traim nods to you.

You whisper to Traim, "not necessarily pelag?"

Tiv makes grasping motions towards the air, though he seizes nothing. He then spends several moments apparently focused on his breathing. In. Out. In. Out. In. Out...

Traim rubs his head.

Skaen whispers, "I'm guessing he's possessed by the Arbiter?"

Tiv scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

You whisper to Skaen, "it could be"

Traim asks, "A disaster in fate, or with the moons, how do we help?"

Traim says, "We've seen a vision of an elf eager to answer."

You nod to Traim.

Tiv points at himself.

Tiv asks, "...Pelag ai Aldam?"

You blink at Tiv.

Tiv sobs.

Traim says, "No. Arbiter in Darkness."

Tiv blinks at Traim.

Sebrahn gazes up at the sky.

Traim says, "The vision we saw suggested he would help you oppose Pelag."

Renucci nods in agreement.

Traim says, "And you look like you've had quite an extended run-in with a creature of light, master. If he's not still there..."

You nod to Traim.

You say, "I wonder if an empath should be sought."

Traim asks something in Gamgweth.

Traim smiles at Tiv.

Traim inhales a great swallow of air.

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

You feel your insight into future events slip away.

Tiv looks thoughtfully at Traim.

You gesture.
You focus your mind on sending a message to Mistanna, "come to where the monks used to have their guild.. Tiv has returned"

Tiv inhales a great swallow of air.

Traim nods to Tiv.

Traim inhales a great swallow of air.

You feel fully rested.

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

Tiv slowly empties his lungs.

Tiv studies the faces around him.

Traim says, "Just like old times."

Traim nods to Tiv.

Traim says, "Calm. Breaths."

You feel fully attuned to the mana streams again.

Renucci grins at Tiv.

Traim casually observes the area.

Traim says, "You all, try? Give him something familiar."

Renucci says, "I can only imagine the pain."

Traim says, "Just deep breaths."

Tiv suddenly seizes Skaen by the head and locks eyes with him. Skaen crumples to the ground holding his head in pain as Tiv releases him and looks skyward.

Traim winces.

You blink at Skaen.

Skaen wobbles, looking a bit faint.

Tiv says to Skaen, "Pelag ai Aldam."

You whisper to Traim, "he might be familiar with a prism?"

Skaen inhales a great swallow of air.

Traim inhales a great swallow of air.

Skaen rises to a kneeling position.

Traim says, "Breaths, master."

You whisper to Traim, "it's not something I have"

Renucci takes a deep breath.

Skaen stands up.

Tiv inhales a great swallow of air.

Traim says, "Out."

Tiv slowly empties his lungs.

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

Skaen glances up at the sky.

Skaen scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

Traim smiles slightly.

Traim inhales a great swallow of air.

Cyiarriah gets a translucent glass bottle of iced tea cooler from inside her silk bag.

Cyiarriah offers Tiv a translucent glass bottle of iced tea cooler.

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

Tiv inhales a great swallow of air.

Cyiarriah asks, "Perhaps a sip of something?"

Renucci gets a glass of iced strawberry lemonade from inside his backpack.

Renucci asks, "Lemonade?"

You put your journal in your watersilk pack.

Skaen says, "He's holding everything. everything."

You get a cup of steaming black coffee from inside your watersilk pack.

Skaen shivers.

Traim says, "Just meditate. I know it's not your way, but it's his. Just breath."

You tap a cup of steaming black coffee that you are holding.

Traim says, "Help him get his center."

Traim inhales a great swallow of air.

You take in a great breath of air.

Traim gazes at Tiv.

You slowly and deliberately empty your filled lungs.

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

Sebrahn asks Skaen, "Did he tell you this somehow?"

Skaen shakes his head.

You raise an eyebrow in Skaen's direction.

You whisper to Skaen, "when he touched you.. did you see or sense something?"

Traim stands near Tiv.

Traim fixes Tiv with a frank, even stare.

Renucci puts his lemonade in his backpack.

Traim inhales a great swallow of air.

Skaen says, "When he grasped me I saw everything that is, was and shall be."

Skaen shudders.

>Something on the ground seems to catch Tiv's attention and he kneels down and starts dragging his hands through the dirt. He lists up a handful of dirt and watches as it slowly sifts through his fingers and he continues to gaze at his hands for several more moments, entranced by his dirtied digits. Throughout this process he mumbles to himself, "Thia. Thia. Thia thia thia!"

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

You feel less aware of your environment.

You frown.

The last few clouds in the sky above slowly drift away.

Traim nods to Tiv.

Cyiarriah looks thoughtfully at Skaen.

Traim says, "Yes, earth, ground."

Skaen says, "It was too much."

Skaen shakes his head.

Traim says, "You're back, master. Take your time, calm."

Tiv pats himself down looking for something!

Tiv gives a cut-crystal hand wrapped around a cracked amber jewel a hug!

Skaen inhales a great swallow of air.

Traim nods to Tiv.

Renucci smiles at Tiv.

Traim asks, "Do any of you have a prism on you?"

Traim says, "He might find that familiar too."

Traim nods to you.

Renucci gets a sapphire prism suspended from a rainbow painted chain from inside his thigh pouch.

You say, "I do not have one."

Renucci offers Tiv a sapphire prism suspended from a rainbow painted chain.

Traim praises Renucci.

Tiv exclaims, "Din!"

Renucci says, "Near I could find as Xibar."

Traim says, "He says..no."

Tiv pushes away the prism before holding his head and staggering about a bit.

Traim says, "It must be the link to prediction, to the other Plane."

Renucci puts his prism in his telescope tube.

Renucci gets a simple mahogany telescope from inside his telescope tube.

Skaen's eyes darken with thought, and his tail grows very still.

Renucci shows Tiv his mahogany telescope.

Traim asks, "Master, do you want to see familiar faces? An old student? Kssarh?"

You say to Traim, "That is good thinking."

Tiv gazes at the telescope for a bit, though it's hard to tell if any recognition passes through his frosty eyes.

Traim asks, "You remember Kssarh? Bright happy fellow, penchant for lighting fires?"

Traim smiles at Tiv.

Renucci chuckles at Traim.

Your mind hears Soliciti thinking, "{faintly}" "so nobody wanted dyes?"

Tiv asks, "Aes?"

Tiv says, "Chelmor."

Traim asks, "You want a fire?"

Traim roots around the area for a moment.
Renucci roots around the area for a moment.

Traim roots around the area for a moment.

Skaen roots around the area for a moment.

Traim roots around the area for a moment.

You offer your black coffee to Tiv, who has 30 seconds to accept the offer. Type CANCEL to prematurely cancel the offer.

Traim says, "Hrm."

Skaen glides east.

You say, "A little coffee to warm you."

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

Tiv has accepted your offer and is now holding a cup of steaming black coffee.

Renucci puts his telescope in his telescope tube.

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

You nod politely to Tiv.

Tiv sniffs at the coffee.

You say, "It is just coffee.. no spirits.. although I have some of those if you'd like it."

Renucci says to Cyiarriah, "Coffee..."

Cyiarriah says, "Go figure... I thought it would be too strong."

Cyiarriah looks at Renucci and shrugs.

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

You say, "He is cold."

Skaen just arrived.

You say, "It is steaming hot."

Renucci says, "Need Hot chocolate."

Cyiarriah nods to you.

Sebrahn narrows his eyes.

Traim nods to Skaen.

Skaen gets a log from inside his beisswurm backpack.

Skaen offers Traim a log.

Traim points his dragon skull at a log and a flame shoots from the creature's mouth, making the log quickly catch fire.

Traim drops a burning log.

Traim puts his skull in his spidersilk backpack.

Traim says to Tiv, "Aes."

Traim nods to Tiv.

Traim gestures at a burning log.

Traim stands near a burning log.

The log on the ground sputters as it burns.

Traim crooks his finger, motioning Tiv to come closer.

Tiv takes a sip of his coffee.

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

Tiv dips a finger in the coffee and watches it slowly drip back down.

You raise an eyebrow in Tiv's direction.

Renucci says, "It must have been hard."

Renucci babbles incoherently.

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

You ask Traim, "Didn't that one vision which has changed with Pelag.. basically say .. something has already started, we can't do anything about it?"

Tiv seizes his forehead in one hand and slowly drags the fingers away, leaving several smudges of dirt, as if trying to pull something from his mind. He flicks his fingers at the crowd and you find yourself elsewhere. Cold. Alone. And now back.

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

Traim gazes at Tiv.

Cyiarriah casually observes the area.

Cyiarriah shivers.

You blink.

Tiv scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

Traim says, "That's where you were. But you are there no longer. You are back, master."

Renucci says, "Safe."

Renucci says, "As safe can be."

Traim says to you, "Pelag though it was started and he said we could do nothing about it."

Tiv gazes at Renucci.

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

Tiv laughs!

Traim nods to you.

Tiv cackles deep in his throat, his voice rising in chilling laughter.

Traim winces.

Sebrahn glances at Skaen.

Skaen gets a log from inside his beisswurm backpack.

Renucci babbles incoherently.

Traim takes a seat.

You stand near Tiv.

Cyiarriah scans the area briefly.

The fire on the ground sputters as it burns.

Traim says to you, "Pelag is inclined to believe in the finality of his construct."

You nod to Traim.

Traim says, "Hence why I believe Karosti believes he, and them, are the ones to answer."

You ask, "And the other.. where the nodes are smoldering?"

Traim says to you, "The side effect of Karosti's type of warfare."

You frown.

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

Tiv looks towards Zynara and holds out his hand flat, fingers together. The hand trembles slightly.

Traim says, "But this, Tiv, if he has the Arbiter's help somehow, could change everything."

Traim gazes at Tiv.

You wring your hands nervously.

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

You rub Tiv gently, trying to massage any sore muscles.

Tiv takes a sip of his coffee.

Cyiarriah gets a bowl of potato soup topped with crumbled bacon from inside her combat pack.

Tiv accepts Cyiarriah's potato soup.

Cyiarriah smiles at you.

Tiv sniffs at the soup.

Cyiarriah says to you, "A better choice than tea..."

You say, "If bacon doesn't help him remember."

Cyiarriah gazes up at the sky.

Tiv says, "Arthe."

Traim says, "I don't know enough to state that the help has ended, but I have no argument."

Traim nods to Sebrahn.

Renucci exclaims, "Beacon the Bacon!"

Renucci smirks.

Cyiarriah says to you, "Bacon does fix everything."

Cyiarriah nods to you.

Traim says, "Warm."

The fire on the ground burns with a comforting glow.

Skaen smiles.

Cyiarriah roots around the area for a moment.

Renucci says, "Keep the fire going."

You say, "I wish we could find shelter for this poor man."

Skaen gives a slight nod.

Tiv dips his hand into the soup and slowly eats from his palm, licking the fingers clean of soup and grime.

Cyiarriah says, "Not a lot of wood around."

Cyiarriah roots around the area for a moment.

Renucci nods to Cyiarriah.

A few fluffy white clouds drift into the sky above.

Renucci says, "Plenty of Lava."

Renucci chuckles.

Cyiarriah nods to Skaen.

Traim says, "Maybe after the food, and fire, we can find someplace better for him to recover."

Renucci scans the sky, looking for portents and insight.

You nod at Traim, in complete agreement with his views.

Traim says, "Someone needs to get word to Kssarh."

Tiv glances down at the cut-crystal hand about his neck and jerks back with a start, as if surprised to find it there.

Tiv drops a bowl of potato soup topped with crumbled bacon.

Tiv drops a cup of steaming black coffee.

Traim gazes at Tiv.

Tiv takes off a cut-crystal hand wrapped around a cracked amber jewel.

You blink at Tiv.

Cyiarriah ponders.

Tiv gazes down at his hands.

Renucci gazes at Tiv.

Skaen whispers, "I'm guessing someone has tried to read him?"

Traim says, "I'd advise against returning to the sect hall right now, master, if that was your thought."

You whisper to Skaen, "if you mean to sense his mana.. I did that, but I did not analyze him"

Tiv slowly studies the pendant by the fire as his breathing grows more regular.

You say, "Ah.. that's right.. calm yourself."

Traim smiles.

Traim inhales a great swallow of air.

Skaen whispers, "the analyze, that might be too invasive though for his current state of mind, and potentially dangerous for us"

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

You nod to Skaen.

You whisper to Skaen, "I didn't want to do anything which might be seen too invasive.. "

Tiv points at Skaen.

You nod at Traim, in complete agreement with his views.

You get an elegant black journal embossed with silver stars from inside your watersilk pack.

Renucci says, "Aena shabi."

You gaze at your journal.

Traim says, "You might be a servant too, but only in your own eyes. A servant to the guild and your students. That's how you might see it."

Tiv holds his head in pain and screams, "Ita!"

Traim scowls.

Tiv grips the crystal hand harder as he tries to calm himself.

Traim nods to Skaen.

Skaen sighs.

Traim gives a slight nod.

Renucci breathes very slowly and looks much calmer.

Tiv stands up.

Traim gazes at Tiv.

Renucci says, "It's good to calm."

You smile.

Skaen says, "It is good to see you returned to us."

Skaen gives you a slight nod.

Tiv laughs, his eyes reflecting barely hidden sorrow.

You nod at Skaen, in complete agreement with his views.

Traim nods at Skaen, obviously agreeing with his views.

Traim smiles.

Tiv says, "Nothing. Nothing. All nothing."

Renucci says, "The Planes are very empty."

Tiv says, "But here? Everything. All the things." Tiv taps his temple, "All. So much. Obliteration."

Cyiarriah asks, "Forgive my ignorance, but is that the Plane of Probability?"

Renucci pats Cyiarriah on the back.

Cyiarriah smiles at Sebrahn.

Court Adjutant Powerhaus just arrived.

Powerhaus casually observes the area.

You say to Tiv, "If you're referring to the devastation here.. there is yet hope some things survived, but will take excavation."

Powerhaus nods.

Tiv says, "Am I the bat? Am I the skull? No. No. One is enough for hatred."

You ponder.

You whisper to Skaen, "I'm the worst at riddles"

You feel a bit weak in the knees and find yourself wobbling.

Renucci gazes at Tiv.

Cyiarriah shudders.

Tiv glances at his crystal hand.

Tiv glances at Traim.

Traim smiles sadly at Tiv.

Tiv says to Traim, "You know. You know. Said you knew."

Traim gives a slight nod.

The fire on the ground burns with a comforting glow.

Cyiarriah nods to Powerhaus.

Tiv says, "I'm not the she-skull. Or the servant, or the darkness or the shrew, nor the nightingale."

Traim asks, "About the sect hall, master?"

Traim says, "Ah, yes."

Traim says, "You are Tiv. Our teacher."

You ask, "Who are you then?"

Powerhaus glances at Tiv.

Renucci grins.

Traim says, "Teacher of students. Self-proclaimed servant of the moon mage guild."

Tiv says, "Tiv." He rolls the word around in his mouth as if tasting it. "Tiv. Yes. I know this."

A burning log in a fire burns out and crumbles away.

Powerhaus nods to Cyiarriah.

Tiv asks, "Am I? Must I be?"

You nod to Tiv.

Skaen gets a log from inside his beisswurm backpack.

Skaen adds a log to a fire.

Renucci says, "You are."

Traim says, "The name is yours. Those others do not belong to you, and you know the power in the name."

Traim says, "None can take it from you."

A column of smoke trails off the fire on the ground.

Traim says, "Tiv."

The log in the fire bursts into flames.

Renucci says, "A very wise teacher."

Tiv asks, "Tiv once was. And then was I. So cold. So alone. But never empty. Never alone. Helpless. Am I he? Can I be?"

Powerhaus smirks.

Powerhaus observes Tiv with fascination.

Powerhaus frowns.

Renucci says, "You are Tiv in all the forms of our current fate."

You say, "Tiv is, who he chooses to be... but perhaps trying to decide too soon.. rest.. regain your strength."

Skaen becomes very still, eyes unfocused.

Tiv says, "Tiv knew. He knew. I would not choose the cold and alone and the certainty. But would he? Mayhaps."

Sebrahn nods to Skaen.

You assess the teaching environment...

Traim says, "You were always selfless, master."

You nod to Traim.

Tiv suddenly takes note of the coffee he discarded earlier.

Tiv picks up a cup of steaming black coffee.

The fire on the ground burns with a comforting glow.

Tiv asks, "Did Tiv like coffee?"

Tiv takes a sip of his coffee.

Renucci says to Tiv, "You wouldn't choose cold and alone.. It was an act of fate and faith."

Cyiarriah asks, "Who doesn't?"

Renucci grins at Cyiarriah.

You ask Tiv, "Do you?"

Tiv says to you, "It is real."

A burning log in a fire burns out and crumbles away.

You nod to Tiv.

Renucci says, "You are real."

Renucci nods to Tiv.

Tiv says, "Or is it? Is this more?" he taps his temple, "Seen this. Know this."

Katamba slowly rises above the horizon.
You sense an overall increase in Lunar mana.

You say to Tiv, "You may not return to being the same Tiv, but you are here, and this is real."

Renucci says, "Nothing is hidden in your head that will not return in time."

Traim ponders.

Tiv says to you, "So certain."

Tiv says to Renucci, "Everything is hidden."

Powerhaus smirks.

You say to Tiv, "Perhaps this is gullible of me...."

Powerhaus says to Cyiarriah, "What you know is not certain."

Yavash slowly rises above the horizon.
You sense an overall increase in Lunar mana.

Cyiarriah says to Powerhaus, "I know nothing."

Renucci says, "And in Time you will clear your mind."

You say, "But the moons rise, the sun is here, the stars will soon shine from the dark sky..."

Powerhaus nods.

Powerhaus asks Cyiarriah, "Neither does it?"

Cyiarriah shakes her head at Powerhaus.

Renucci says, "You will find there are many things that make your happy.."

Tiv takes a sip of his coffee.

Renucci says, "Things that jog your memory.."

Tiv says to Renucci, "Doubtful."

Renucci says, "Things that help you remember you are a great teacher."

Tiv says, "Memory. All is mine."

Powerhaus smirks.

Powerhaus nods to Tiv.

Cyiarriah forces Renucci out of her group.

Renucci praises Tiv.

Cyiarriah trudges east.

Renucci says, "They are yours."

Renucci says, "You can share them."

Renucci says, "Event the painful ones."

Tiv says, "Unwise. So very unwise."

A few fluffy white clouds drift into the sky above.

Powerhaus glances up at the sky.

You say, "It is our hope, when you are stronger.. that you might share what happened when you left."

Tiv says, "Knowledge is power. Ignorance is freedom."

Traim says, "What of Nera, Tiv? She may not have seen all that you have, but she faced the power of that knowledge, and she fought with it."

A column of smoke trails off the fire on the ground.

Renucci says, "Yes but you could teach the leason that provides clairity to avoid the pain."

Traim says, "Ignorance is not your way, it never has been. Your whole life has been dedicated otherwise."

Traim stands up.

Traim winces.

Fingers of flame flutter from the fire on the ground.

Tiv laughs at Traim.

Tiv says, "Lies. Lies. Failure."

You arch your eyebrow.

Traim says, "Failure? Of course there's failure."

A column of smoke trails off the fire on the ground.

Powerhaus asks Tiv, "The truth to you though?"

Dancing from one cloud to another, the sun wends its way towards evening.

Sebrahn rummages through a sable leather backpack with a frantic look of loss.

Traim says, "That was one of the first lessons I took in. Search for perfection and knowledge for the sake of the path, not the belief that you find it."

Renucci says, "There is never a future till it's the past.."

Renucci asks Tiv, "Don't you recall your youth?"

Tiv says to Renucci, "Perfectly, if at all."

Powerhaus smirks.

Powerhaus gets some field goblin jerky from inside his firestarter's pack.

Powerhaus takes a bite of the jerky.

The fire on the ground sputters as it burns.

Renucci says, "Good! Tell a tale of happyness."

Traim asks, "If anyone can handle it, it is you, master. You had to know that. That had to be why you did what you did. Did you not know what it would cost you?"

Tiv says to Renucci, "I've none. I know the ending."

Renucci covers his eyes with his hand.

Fingers of flame flutter from the fire on the ground.

Tiv says to Traim, "Knowing is not paying."

Powerhaus takes a bite of the jerky.

Cyiarriah just arrived.

Powerhaus puts his jerky in his firestarter's pack.

Cyiarriah adds a log to a fire.

Powerhaus joins Cyiarriah's group.

Skaen gives Cyiarriah a slight nod.

The log in the fire bursts into flames.

You get a snifter of Rissan brandy from inside your watersilk pack.

Tiv ponders.

You take a sip of the brandy.

A burning log in a fire burns out and crumbles away.

Cyiarriah gets a log from inside her combat pack.

Cyiarriah adds a log to a fire.

Sebrahn asks, "This is not the sacrifice you intended to make, is it?"

Cyiarriah gets a log from inside her combat pack.

Tiv says to Renucci, "Mislead, we were. Too late it was seen."

Cyiarriah adds a log to a fire.

Skaen asks, "By whom?"

Tiv says to Renucci, "I..."

Traim frowns.

Tiv frowns.

Renucci seems to be waiting for something.

The szeldite set in Skaen's buckler slowly bleeds from malevolent black haloed by a feral white glow to malevolent black.

Tiv says, "I let them die. I could have saved them, only to die. So I let them die."

You raise an eyebrow in Tiv's direction.

Renucci says, "You are a survivor."

Tiv says, "I fled and lost my way. He was there so strongly, so strong."

Cyiarriah gets a mug of blend coffee from inside her silk bag.

Cyiarriah takes a sip of her coffee.

Tiv says, "But I had to live, you see." Tiv taps his head, "For all the good it will do us."

You say, "He... we have debated."

Tiv says, "And then nothing. So much nothing. For so long."

Renucci nods.

Renucci says, "You have been gone for a while."

Tiv says, "No air. No ground. No gravity. Nothing. Nothing."

Tiv says, "Tiv would have died. All would have died."

Renucci says, "The Planes are difficult to navagate."

Tiv says, "But I was consumed by, this."

Purple flames waver across the fire on the ground.

Powerhaus asks, "Did Tiv die?"

Powerhaus observes Tiv with fascination.

Tiv says, "And I held on. Held myself together. You don't really need air there, you know? You think you do, so you do."

Cyiarriah winces.

Tiv says, "Nothing. Nothing."

Tiv asks, "How did I finally find something?"

Tiv exclaims, "I don't know. I should know!"

Tiv clutches his head.

Renucci ponders.

Traim asks, "Phelim, master?"

Tiv says to Traim, "They can touch there, but they don't. They don't."

Purple flames waver across the fire on the ground.

Traim nods.

Renucci ponders.

Tiv says, "Focus. Story helps. Focus on a thread. One thread."

Powerhaus grins.

Powerhaus nods.

The last few clouds in the sky above slowly drift away.

Traim ponders.

The fire on the ground burns with a comforting glow.

Traim asks, "Karosti's. Do you see it?"

Traim gazes at Tiv.

Tiv says, "I should thank you for helping me. Thank the voices in my head. That's something Tiv would do right? Even though he knows they're voices and the nothing is still out there, hungering for him. As only nothing can hunger."

Tiv shudders.

Powerhaus smirks.

Tiv asks, "Maybe this is real. If I focus on the voices long enough, on the visions, does it matter?"

Cyiarriah gets a log from inside her combat pack.

Cyiarriah adds a log to a fire.

Renucci looks at Tiv and shrugs.

The log in the fire bursts into flames.

Renucci says, "Does it."

Tiv asks, "Does anything?"

Cyiarriah says, "We consider it real."

Cyiarriah casually observes the area.

You ask Tiv, "We were ever so worried for you.. after you left.. we sensed that someone of your description helped a prone s'kra woman and a nightingale was on his shoulder.. do you recall anything of this nature?"

Renucci says, "Everything matters.. It's all in context of how you align yourself."

Renucci says, "What you enjoy."

Tiv says, "Lies."

The fire on the ground burns with a comforting glow.

Renucci says, "Life is worth every moment."

Powerhaus asks Cyiarriah, "As real as what you make of it, and it only matters to you I guess?"

Cyiarriah nods to Powerhaus.

Powerhaus says, "Cause to others it might as well not exist, so yeah, what is the point arguing..."

Powerhaus smirks.

Renucci says, "You just ignore those around you that cause chaos.. Those who are not worth bothering with.. You only worry about those whom are capable of true value."

Renucci says, "Place your energy where you enjoy."

Tiv says, "Simple. Simple."

Tiv says to Skaen, "You've a taste. Not that easy."

Skaen nods in agreement.

A burning log in a fire burns out and crumbles away.

Cyiarriah gets a log from inside her combat pack.

Cyiarriah adds a log to a fire.

Renucci says, "You once enjoyed concoring the mountain."

The log in the fire bursts into flames.

Powerhaus prods a burning log with the tip of his finger.

Tiv asks, "Why does enjoyment matter?"

You ask, "It is real?"

Renucci says, "It drives you to reality."

A burning log in a fire burns out and crumbles away.

You grin at Renucci.

You take a sip of the brandy.

Tiv shrugs.

Renucci says, "Keeps you from going insane.."

A burning log in a fire burns out and crumbles away.

Tiv seems bemused at that thought.

Tiv scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

Skaen scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

Traim says, "Meaning matters, master. And it grieves us to hear you speak otherwise, of the daily tasks, of everything. You give them meaning."

You ask, "Pleasure and enjoyment may be fleeting, but it is those things which often make the dark times easier to bear.. the hope of regaining such?"

Traim asks, "How many rugs or walls did I clean as an apprentice because you were trying to teach that lesson?"

Traim asks, "How many hours spent doing nothing but breathing?"

Traim asks, "Has your sight of Everything now made you believe in Nothing?"

Traim gazes at Tiv.

Tiv says, "I did not know."

Tiv says, "I'm tired. You don't sleep there you know. If you sleep you lose yourself."

Traim nods.

Powerhaus says, "Everything to do, and nothing to get done."

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

Renucci grins at Powerhaus.

Skaen asks, "Can you hold your focus here in sleep?"

You ask Tiv, "I would imagine.. do you think you can recall some place you would find comfortable?"

Tiv asks Traim, "Have you been there? Outside Grazhir?"

Renucci says, "The Grey expanse isn't easy to return from."

Powerhaus takes a sip of his coffee.

Traim says, "I have not been where you have, master."

Traim says, "Nor would I survive it."

Purple flames waver across the fire on the ground.

Tiv says, "Comfort. No. Everyone Tiv has lived is gone. It does not matter."

You frown at Tiv.

The sun nears the far horizon as the clear blue sky deepens into a rich indigo.

The fire on the ground burns with a comforting glow.

Renucci says, "It's crumbled."

Tiv says, "Telling would be cheating."

Powerhaus grins at Tiv.

Powerhaus nods.

Traim says, "Loved. They were always gone. This disillusionment is not you. I think you should speak with Kssarh, master."

Traim says, "When you've had time to rest."

Renucci says, "You are welcome to sleep on my cot.. It's not much but it is easy on the back."

You nod to Traim.

Tiv says, "I am not myself, I am aware of that - the thoughts are hard coming."

Skaen stands up.

Traim says, "Cherulisa too."

You nod to Traim.

Traim says, "Your old students will be helpful."

Tiv says, "Kssarh though... I've not forgotten."

Traim smiles.

Traim nods.

You say, "Would be hard to not remember him, I think."

A few fluffy white clouds drift into the sky above.

Renucci says, "Kssarh is still a cookie I can't deny."

Tiv says, "I could not face him in this state. He would understand, but I will not place that burden on him."

Renucci drools.

Renucci scans the sky from horizon to horizon.

Tiv says, "Gylwyn."

Tiv says, "She watched over him for so long, she is a care taker."

Traim nods.

You nod.

Renucci grins.

Tiv says, "I need. Time."

Cyiarriah takes a sip of her coffee.

Traim says, "I'll open a gate there. Unless you wish to travel on your own time."

Traim gestures.
A beam of ruby brilliance splits the sky.

Tiv says to Traim, "Thank you. I do not trust myself."

Traim bows to Tiv.

You nod to Traim.

You gesture.
An oozing pool of darkness collects at your feet as you focus a moonbeam from Katamba into the area.

Tiv says, "After all I said. He goes there."

Renucci nods to Tiv.

Powerhaus grins.

Cyiarriah mutters something into the air about Moon Mages.

Powerhaus says, "Fate or something.."

Powerhaus grins at Cyiarriah.

Renucci says, "It's not something I plan on doing anytime soon."

You gesture.
[Obsidian Spire, Landing]
Winding around the interior of the room is a flight of steps climbing steeply into the darkness overhead, lit only by the cold blue-white light of minuscule tzgaa spheres inserted into the end of each riser. Stairs lead back down, while an archway affords a glimpse of the outdoors.
Also here: Guildleader Gylwyn.
Obvious exits: none.

You make a subtle gesture in an attempt to affect your moonbeam.
You sense your moonbeam move towards Gylwyn.
Roundtime: 3 seconds.

You gesture.
A swirling vortex of shadows draws itself from the ground and coalesces into a black Moongate, which yawns open like a hungry maw.

Renucci peers through the Moongate.

Skaen peers through the Moongate.

Cyiarriah peers through the Moongate.

You peer through the Moongate...

You also see a pool of black shadows.
Also here: Traim and Guildleader Gylwyn.
Obvious exits: none.

You motion toward a black Moongate.

Skaen went through a black Moongate.

Renucci holds hands with Tiv.

[Lava Flow, Path of Thorns]
A heart-shaped wrought iron sculpture is overgrown, writhing vines coiled around it. The thick spike-like thorns appear to pierce the center, the sharp points gleaming with moisture.
You also see a black Moongate, a red moonbeam, a bowl of potato soup topped with crumbled bacon and a fire.
Also here: Cyiarriah, Desperado Powerhaus who has a fiery visage, Master Moon Mage Renucci, Skindancer Sebrahn and Guildleader Tiv.
Obvious paths: east, west.

Cyiarriah joins Renucci's group.

Renucci asks Tiv, "Ready?"

Powerhaus peers through the Moongate.

Powerhaus joins Renucci's group.

Tiv gazes about dazedly.

Master Moon Mage Renucci's group went through a black Moongate.

Also here: Guildleader Tiv, Cyiarriah, Desperado Powerhaus who has a fiery visage, Master Moon Mage Renucci, Skaen, Traim and Guildleader Gylwyn.
Obvious exits: none.

You release your mental hold on the lunar energy that sustains your moongate.
A black Moongate collapses in on itself.

Powerhaus casually observes the area.

Powerhaus nods to Gylwyn.

Gylwyn gasps!

You nod graciously at Gylwyn, giving her a polite smile.

Gylwyn just hugged Tiv.

Traim smiles sadly.

Gylwyn exclaims to Tiv, "We thought we'd lost you!"

Tiv seems slightly unsure what to do with the halfling wrapped about his legs.

Traim laughs!

Powerhaus asks Cyiarriah, "Lost, found, all the same?"

You grin.

Cyiarriah holds up her hand and tilts it side to side in a so-so gesture.

Tiv says to Gylwyn, "That remains to be seen."

Powerhaus nods.

Gylwyn asks, "What happened to your eyes?"

Gylwyn gazes at Tiv.

The black shadows fade somewhat.

Tiv says, "A foolish choice."

Renucci says, "I like the new look."

You feel fully attuned to the mana streams again.

Renucci ducks his head.

You whisper to Traim, "sorry, I had no idea if a beam could be moved in here.. "

Cyiarriah nods to Powerhaus.

You also see a pool of grey shadows.
Also here: Guildleader Tiv, Cyiarriah, Desperado Powerhaus who has a fiery visage, Master Moon Mage Renucci, Skaen, Traim and Guildleader Gylwyn.
Obvious exits: none.

Traim whispers, "No worries."

Tiv says, "I... it's thick. My thoughts are thick."

Gylwyn gazes at Tiv with concern.

You whisper to Gylwyn, "he's doing much better than when we first found him walking near the ruins of the fortress.. "

Tiv says, "May I stay here while I gather myself? There will be questions."

Tiv says, "I need to find myself. Try to dredge some use from this fractured mind."

Gylwyn whispers, "This is better?"

Powerhaus casually observes the area.

Powerhaus nods.

You say to Tiv, "You've made great strides in a short time, sir."

Gylwyn says to Tiv, "I... see. You are always welcome here of course."

Cyiarriah nods to Powerhaus.

A nimbus of pure white light blossoms from inside a soot-black firestarter's pack covered in naphtha stains that Powerhaus is wearing.

Powerhaus says to Tiv, "Good luck? with all this."

You whisper to Gylwyn, "it was worse.. much worse"

Powerhaus smirks.

Tiv says, "Thank you. It seems my usual bed is encased in lava."

Renucci says, "Nahhh It's easy to get to."

You whisper to Gylwyn, "originally he only uttered singled words.. in gamgweth"

Gylwyn studies the faces around her.

Renucci grins at Tiv.

Gylwyn says, "Thank you for bringing him here."

You nod politely.

Renucci praises Traim.

Tiv nods.

Tiv says, "Rest. It's been so long."

Traim says, "It goes without saying, but let us know if we can help with anything as you recover."

Skaen gives a slight nod.

Traim bows to Tiv.

Tiv says, "Thank you." He sounds slightly awkward as he says it, as if he wants to mean it but isn't sure how."

Cyiarriah says to Tiv, "Rest well."

You say to Tiv, "It is my dearest hope you find the peace you need to find to sort this out."

Traim grins wryly.

You nod at Traim, in complete agreement with his views.

Renucci praises Tiv.

Tiv begins climbing up the steps.

Skaen sighs.

You say, "Maybe we should see about getting some kind of excavation .. that might be a good project.. to see what, if anything, can be recovered."

Renucci nods to you.

Gylwyn says, "That was very unexpected, but wonderful."

Skaen smiles.

You nod at Gylwyn, in complete agreement with her views.

Cyiarriah nods in agreement.

Gylwyn says, "I shall have to call for empaths to check on him, when he's willing of course."

Gylwyn ponders.

You say, "I nearly fainted when I sensed his presence."

Renucci nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views.

Gylwyn says, "And I have to decide what to tell the rest of the council. They'll want to know of course, but he doesn't seem up to facing them."

Gylwyn ponders.

Traim says to Gylwyn, "Familiar things and habits were helpful to him."

Traim says, "Perhaps Kssarh and Cherulisa, when he's up to it."

The grey shadows are now too faint to be seen.

You ask Gylwyn, "He made great progress, but I think he really is barely holding it together?"

Gylwyn says, "We can hardly keep it a secret, that wouldn't do at all but he seems so fragile right now."

Renucci nods at you, obviously agreeing with your views.

You say, "Sad to say such a thing of a great personage .. but he's been through a lot."

Gylwyn says, "Oh Tiv... what have you done? You were always the best of us."

You gaze sadly at Gylwyn.

Traim says, "That's why he survived. And that's why he will make it back to himself."

Traim slowly empties his lungs.

You give a slight nod.

Gylwyn nods.

Renucci paces back and forth.

Skaen's tail cautiously lifts into a kind of "U" shape.

Gylwyn says, "Thank you for bringing him here. This is a wonderful day, even if tinged with a bit of sadness."

Renucci rubs his head.

You say, "And even more questions."

You wring your hands nervously.

You say, "He spoke of something else."

Gylwyn says, "I'll make sure he's cared for. Hopefully he'll recover with time."

You say, "Very early... before he started speaking common again."

Renucci nods to Gylwyn.

Traim nods to Gylwyn.

You ask Traim, "What was that again?"

Gylwyn nods to you.

Traim says, "Cold stars, dark lava, the destruction of fate."

You nod to Traim.

Traim says, "He has...a lot in his mind."

Traim glances at Skaen.

Skaen kicks at the ground distractedly with the toe of his shadowy black sandals.

You say, "Yes he touched us.."

Traim says, "As you said, hopefully he'll recover with time."

Renucci says, "Suprised he didn't shake your boots off."

Renucci gazes at Traim.

Gylwyn says, "I see."

Renucci says, "After all this babbling about the Planes and you jump right into them."

Traim grins wryly.

Gylwyn says, "Or rather, I don't think I do, but I imagine I will after spending some time with him."

You say to Gylwyn, "If he touches you.. you'll feel it."

Skaen nods to Gylwyn.

Traim says, "Yes, well, he's never agreed with a lot of the choices I've taken."

Traim grins at Renucci.

Renucci chuckles at Traim.

Traim says to Gylwyn, "Thank you, and let me know if I can help anymore as well."

Renucci says, "I think that's a Guild thing."

Gylwyn says, "We all have our detractors."

You say, "I think we're all in agreement we'll help in any way we can."

You give a gracious nod.

Renucci nods.

Gylwyn nods.

Traim asks Gylwyn, "Is there any reason why we should even try to keep this quiet?"

Traim says, "I know more than a few monks that deserve to celebrate the news."

Traim says, "Well, mages of all sects really."

Gylwyn says, "We'll have to figure out what happened to him before we can proceed with helping him, unless he just gets better on his own."

Gylwyn says, "No. It won't stay secret, and shouldn't. I just worry about the attention it will bring in his current state."

Skaen says, "Letting people know he's alive and walking upon this plane is one thing, what he carries in his head perhaps another."

Skaen furrows his brow.

Renucci nods at Gylwyn, obviously agreeing with her views.

Traim says, "Good points."

You say, "I wouldn't think we'd want folks to think he's diminished."

You say, "Until he's had a chance to rest."

You say, "He said he didn't sleep."

Gylwyn says, "It's not just about appearances, it's about keeping him safe from all of that."

You nod to Gylwyn.

Gylwyn says, "Perhaps he will mend quickly and it won't be a problem. We can hope."

Skaen's eyes darken with thought, and his tail grows very still.

Gylwyn says, "I'll need to think about how best to handle this and care for him. I don't expect he'll wake for awhile, so I should have a little time. Perhaps I'll consult with Taramaine."

Gylwyn ponders.

You flinch.

You ask, "Maybe Cherulisa?"

Gylwyn says, "The Guildleader Prime will need to know about this, it won't due otherwise."

You nod to Gylwyn.

You ask, "Yes, but .. well is he sympathetic normally?"

Gylwyn says, "He is a kind and caring man even if his office does not always let him show it."

Gylwyn says, "He'll understand."

Gylwyn paces back and forth.

You say, "You know him far better.."

You smile at Gylwyn.

Gylwyn says, "Yes. I do."

Renucci grins at you.

You smile.

Traim says, "I imagine they will all know in short order in any case. And Tiv knew he would be in good hands here."

Gylwyn says, "Thank you again. I thanked you all already didn't I? I just still can't believe he's back."

Traim smiles at Gylwyn.

You nod at Traim, in complete agreement with his views.

You curtsy to Gylwyn.

Renucci pats Gylwyn on the back.

Gylwyn hugs everyone, though she hugs you the hardest.

Renucci says, "We can't either."

Traim grins wryly.

You chortle softly at some secret joke.

Traim says, "Thanks all. I'm going to retire myself for awhile and think."

Traim smiles slightly.

Skaen nods to Traim.

Traim says, "See you all soon."

Gylwyn nods.

You say, "Farewell Traim."

Traim nods politely.

Gylwyn says, "I need to think myself."

Cyiarriah nods politely.

Renucci nods.

Skaen raises his hand in a quick salute.

Skaen begins climbing down the stairs.

You say, "Be well all..soo much dramatic stuff."

This is what I experienced when Tiv grasped my head...

Tiv suddenly seizes you by the head and locks eyes with you. Visions and knowledge burst into your mind, overwhelming all other thought as you know everything. Everything that ever was, is and will be. As sanity attempts retreat the knowledge vanishes and you find yourself curled in a fetal position on the ground clutching your head. Tiv stands over your, his gaze turned to the heavens.

So yeah, he's struggling with some things. or everythings.
