I'm sorry. I can't answer that with a straight face.

I'm serious. They are glorified body guards/strong men?

We need this because?

Because it's awesome. And this Guild is all about gratuitous amounts of awesome.

There could be lots of answers to this, but i'll answer as simply as this...not counting the few exceptions where a Y'shai goes bad...

Take the pinnacle of physical ability a Moon Mage can hope to attain, infuse it with otherwise unheard of levels of lunar magic to enhance it even further, then make it completely subservient to the will of the Council.

Why not?

I'm not sure why this is in player-run gatherings since it has nothing to do with either.

Because we're not A) Necromancers raising things to do our bidding, and B) Barbarians convinced that might means right or crushing things is the solution.

Or am I wrong?

While the creation of Y'shai might be sorcerous, it probably isn't necromantic. And sometimes, might does mean right in the moon mage guild... but if a Y'shai beats you down with his permanent moonblade he obviously doesn't consider you much of a threat anyways.

Beware the Y'shai using magic...

Take it up with Taramaine. You are welcome to attempt to go on a crusade destroying all the Y'shai in existence.

Let me know. I'll be watching.

The culture of the Moon Mage guild is a bit more dire than most novice Moon Mages realize when they join, and a careful investigation of their new guild's history will reveal a tendency toward intrigue, violence, and the occasional pogrom. Caveat magus.

>>While the creation of Y'shai might be sorcerous, it probably isn't necromantic.

It's just a torturous process that transforms a man into a soulless abomination that is little more than an animated suit of cambrinth, forsaken in the eyes of the gods. That's perfectly innocent.

Thats one important part that I keep forgetting about. When a Y'shai dies, thats it. What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall during the whole process of making one. :P

Anyone happen to have the Y'shai death message handy?

Don't forget systematic subversion and mental corruption of Imperial leaders to gain political footholds!

As the Compact's strength grew, so grew the number of its enemies, and it became increasingly clear that in order to survive, the Compact would need true sanctioning. And so the Grazhir Circle set in motion a plan to attain that sanctioning.

Jares Braun, wholly in support of the beliefs of the Assembly of Katamba of which he was a member, selected two more Assemblymen from his order and sent them to a young noble by the name of Ponthilas of House Lucaid. The Grazhir Circle had determined three years prior through its scrying that young Ponthilas would become the next Emperor, the fourth of his name to hold the throne. During the interim, several skilled mages of the Compact slowly, and to the notice of none, influenced the mind of Ponthilas with their magic, making him grow unstable over the course of those three years. It was then that he was approached by the emissaries sent by Jares Braun.

Those mages quickly "cured" Ponthilas, as well as offered him sage advice. They assured him that with their help, he would rule the Empire.

If they'll admit that in the history books, makes you wonder what they aren't talking about.
