Since I haven't read anything about risen since forever ago, I don't really know exactly how they'll end up as far as what you see IG. "A rotting risen with Adan'f arms", whatever. Are these in any way going to be able to be disguised? Perhaps have them looking like a town guard (just an example) or something along those lines. The more skill the necromancer has the more life-like (alive)the risen can look? Basically like a witch doctor having his zombies do his bidding.

In the black backpack you see a severed hand and a dead mouse.

So I figure if I'm the first Lich I should be able to raise my poor dead mouse right? ^_^

What I meant was that I haven't heard anything slightly official (news from a Con, or a post from a GM) about a risen. Though it is possible that I've just missed it. I'll try to be more detailed for you in the future.

A few people have made similar suggestions. Truthfully, we don't know much about Risen at this point. Early guild documents said there would be a variety of possible forms, with humanoid being the first and presumably easiest. I believe there was talk of one Risen type with an ability to function as a vault, so that the necromancer wouldn't have to enter town. Until Armifer explicitly confirms any of this, I wouldn't assume it to still be in planning.

Part of it is random acts of cruelty. We enjoy making Moon Mages and Necromancers suffer.

At this point Guardian Spirits are really cool.

The creation of a Risen will be a long, complicated process involving a ranked skill (scarification)... or that's what I have heard at least. Assuming this is true, I am quite excited about the potential for their power and/or versatility.

I imagine the creation of a Risen will be a benchmark for Necromancers much like Resurrection is for many Clerics.
*******
Because it's a gigantic can of worms. Eldritch, necrotic, squamous worms, writhing in a vile stew of coagulating ichor, crushed from the living gullets of a thousand infant puppies, ululating in wordless terror.

That comparison is AWESOME. I like.

I hope they put some controls in place that a Necro must maintain or thus die via their companions. Moon Mages die via uncareful magic, I think Necros should achieve such a perk as well. :)

I don't know why but Ackfer's comment reminded me of the scene from Blazing Saddles when we first meet Mongo.

I can see a necromancer treating his risen like that.

I am curious if risen are going to look like a normal invasion or hunting undead/cursed critter or if we will have some idea that it is in fact a risen. I don't mean the specific necromancer it is connected with , just that it is just that to prevent accidents which could result.

What accident? How should you treat a risen any different than a hunting mob? KILL IT WITH FIRE!!

I guess my question was more if they are going to be an area of effect spell (such as a spawn cast by Rangers)which attacks everything in the room without x spell on them or if they will be something which must be given instructions(or targetted) such as familiars and most forms of guardian spirits or directly defends the caster.

It will say it is a risen, it will not tell you who it belongs to though.

example:
A risen goblin.

I seem to recall a post stating you would know who's risen it was if the risen attacked you.
