One thing that I don't quite like about the Risen creation process so far is that everything comes out with a rather vague descriptor. Beast, creature, abomination, monstrosity, and person just name the ones that I've seen. I understand the need for this: how would the game know how to accurately describe something that's made of a goblin head, cougar torso, and eight spider legs? Sounds like a monstrosity to me. That being said, I do think there needs to be an option for more 'normal' risen creatures to be immediately recognizable.

To that end I propose that a very difficult option be added to the butchery ritual: perform butcher ALL. This would essentially let you pick up the entire corpse and take it back to the lab. You would be able to put the already complete corpse down on the table, and probably still be required to stitch it up to repair any damage it suffered. Using a blood wolf as an example, the end result would be: a risen blood wolf. Maybe even just 'a blood wolf' if you have enough skill to mask that fact that it's undead.

Thoughts?

Alternatively, it would be neat if (like forging!) a Risen made with, say, 3 or more parts from the same source had the option of the noun being that source. I.e., a Risen made with 4 gryphon parts could be set to 'a Risen gryphon' or such.

As a kind of aside, I think due to the fact that so much of this system is still disabled in Test, I'm not really sure what body parts do at all. I get the impression that if you use enough mortal race parts, the Risen may 'be a deadringer' for that mortal race resulting in 'a suspicious person', and that if you use an amalgamation of other critter parts you get 'a Risen monstrosity', but I'm not sure if wyvern arms and beisswurm legs (heh) make something with better offensive than defensive allocation, etc.

Right now there's no benefit for using one part over another part except for purposes of humanity/inhumanity/Pretty Princess Undead Abomination creation. We have the tools to make things like size and component parts matter, such as making a smaller Risen hide easier or a Risen with multiple heads Chorus better, but we haven't implemented that currently.

...now that I re-check the Risen core stuff, Abasha was foresighted and gave us a very simple utility for tallying up body parts in a Risen.

I'll have Chorus updated soon for multi-headed fun.
