We determined that Protect Deflect was broken, so I went and tested Protect Cover. Against ranged attacks, it works fine.. I absorbed the attack directed against the person I was protecting. However, it does not protect at all against targeted spells (I recall it being able to, but I could be wrong) and against melee, it works like protect deflect (broken).

Now that combos are released and Kodius can get into the Expertise and Endurance skills, I'll be we'll find that he ties PROTECT into Endurance and fixes it while he's in there.

At least I imagine that's what will happen.

Hrm..I really have not heard a whole lot out of Kodius on Endurance. I have read a lot of spoilers for expertise powers, but I get the feeling we wont see Endurance for a long time.

Like I expect it will be

Expertise comes out
Period of bug fixes
Period of improvements
Other stuff comes on plate
He handles that
Other stuff crops up, etc etc.

I was initially hopeful that the systems were being built in unison with eachother but it doesnt sound like that, and I just get feeling he isnt all that hyped about it as compared to expertise (which hey, thats fine. Some things you are passionate for, some you just arnt). Just stinks because I think after the flurry of 3.0 related changes(magic) we are going to go back to fall back into obscurity. To the developers credit, our population hardly entails as much return on investment as compared to developing for barbs, warmies, clerics, etc.

If he's in charge of both systems, it's kinda silly to believe they would automatically be built in unison unless they both accomplish similar things. As far as I know, expertise and endurance have nothing in common outside of being guild specialization skills that have to do with combat.

I get the feeling that because he didn't make any public statements on it, that you're making a rather big assumption about what he's planning out.

You might want to cut back on the violin orchestra. A lot of crafts aren't out yet and a lot of them have barely been talked about lately, but that doesn't mean they're not being worked on, either.

Have I been moping about the forums? I feel my general demeanor is very up beat and pro GM's (Especially Kodius. He is dreamy).

That said I have my natural trepidations on how things will pan out. I welcome being proven wrong and have been many times (MANY TIMES). Endurance and Expertise from whats been stated both seem to tie into the same system (combos), in addition to yet unspoken of other things. I've seen a number of spoilers on Expertise, but any ask for endurance so far generally eludes to "I dont know" or "not sure" etc. None of that is bad but to me that indicates a general lack of desire. I also do not know if for instance, Kodius inherited the concept of Endurance as part of the orignal 3.0 stuff or not, or if he masterminded it. I get the feeling that with as vague as it is and as little as has been stated about what its going to do, that there is no GM that is really pioneering it behind the scenes.

Again, none of these are digs or cries. I'm sure if Kodius had an infinite amount of time to work on making things he would amaze everyone (as he has already to be honest!). Historically I've seen lots of proposed systems that get passed around and generally never happen. I have some early worries that Endurance is sizing up to be one of them is all. Not enough to campaign for it actively, but enough to rant a bit about it when its brought up as a solution to a seemingly broken ability (original post).

I'd say history outside of the 3.0 stuff that hit every guild has set a precedence for that, but I will keep it in mind and in check.
