Ok, this is for those who have far more experience with their warhorses than I have.
For bonding purposes, which time counts more? The time spent with a horse (total) or the time spent training the horse in combat? OR is it kind of like bard instrument barding where it only occurs when you are cleaning/grooming the horse?
For all of their faults, horses are pretty much the only reason I play my Paladins nowdays. They're cool. I really hope some GM is working on a lance skill, a horsemanship/chevaliar skill, and a good mounted charge. We get those and I am one happy puppy.
Also, any suggestion on a progression of critters for horses? I tend to stick to critters that don't have weapons, shields, or armor to help the horse get better hits. So, unarmed or furry critters are what I have been using.
I started with hogs and orchard gobs (no weapons or shields), then went to reavers (ok, plenty of armor and shields but they swarm like crazy), tried some bloodwolves, and am now working on snowbeasts.
Any advice or help is greatly appreciated.

Took 15 months real time to get the first stage of the bond. Took 6 months real time to get the second stage.
I groomed alot more during the second stage. That may or may not have had anything to do with it. The only definitive post from GM Jeremael seems to indicate this.
I would not stop training it in combat though for as you have noticed it does get better. There is a serious balance problem with horses though that GM Veyl indicated may be a problem with their AI. My horse can kill a snowie in 3 hits but will end up badly balanced.
No other creature in the game that gets hits like this will loose balance that badly. Hopefully this, and other problems, will be addressed with DR2.
