Combat in general, hmm?
Okay, I've found Olwydd's combat flow charts to be great helps. Here is the URL: WWW.OLWYDD.ORG
You'll find that brawling no longer messes up your balance like it used to- and that brawling when at melee with your critter is pretty much automatic: You no longer have to toggle Brawl Mode on.
I don't know if this was in before you left- But now you can ADJUST your shield so you can wear it on your arm rather than have to grab and hold it. Different guilds have different limits to how large the shields are that they can do this to. As a paladin, you'll be able to do this with the largest shields. It's great for back-training (which is my case), or for combat in general in case you forget. Or for using two-handed weapons and shield.
A couple of new armor types have been introduced: Bone and Cloth. But these are still being tweaked, and are really more geared toward stealthy types than tanks.
Sometimes the key to happiness is not assuming it is locked in the first place- Ziggy
