I'm looking for some Haakish to work into a speech; it's perhaps the language I'm least familiar with, though. At the very least, I'd like the words for "friends" and "family." I think most people who've been around DR a while know that "friend" is "grek"... but is the plural "grekren" or something else? I've also found two words for family--"kind" and "gardas." Is there any difference between the two? For effect, I'd probably use the latter, as "kind" is an English word and I don't want to confuse anyone.
So if my suppositions are all right, does "friends and family" translate to "grekren cha gardas"?
I'd also like to put "welcome" in front of that, but my brain broke trying to verb things. ^_~
welcome - arne
Welcome! (polite phrase to a guest) - Tika at arnin.
I'd appreciate any help!
