if after all these years of Prydaen, Rakash, and I think Skra gods.....why is the only way to get married to adhere to the 13 point of view? I am sure I am not the only one that would like a racial way to do it, so that I don't have to tank my RP. If two Prydaen wis to life bond and follow Demrris and Tenemlor, we have to kiss a Seamus rose? Same holds true for faithful Rakash. We can have our own gods til we want to marry/wed/lifebond....
How bout a lil love for the folks that don't follow the 13

You're in the land of the 13.
>>life bond
Has to be performed/sanctioned by an Elder and currently those are all dead, iirc.
There are racial/cultural practicies for S'Kra marriages.
Many Prydaen that I've seen getting married have added their own touches to the ceremonies that resemble how lifebonding has been described. It's all in how far you want to go as a roleplayer, I think.
In the end, it all boils down to you living in the Land of the Thirteen. This is where their power dominates, and until we are told otherwise, that's all we have mechanic wise. :)

Mechanics dictate that you use the rose for the marriage. All of that can be done OOC in private. It doesn't have to be a part of the wedding at all.
Taking that approach allows you to be as creative as you like with the betrothal and ceremony. Certainly you shouldn't let it hold you back.

It really is mostly a mechanics issue. I would have gone along with this line of reasoning prior to Prydaen favors being released, but you can no longer argue that the deities of other races have no sway in the lands.
My suggestion would be to do the bit with the rose privately just prior to your ceremony and consider it OOC. There's really no reason that part has to be played out by your characters if it's not part of their belief system. Consider whatever you choose to do for your ceremony your official "bonding point".

Just think of the rose as a marriage licence if you will. Do it, get it over with, then for your wedding with your friends, do the ceremony you envision as being appropriate for your characters and their race and their religion.
PS I really do wish we could do something about the marriage verbs and some of the other verbs that impose an action on the part of the other. Nothing I do in game should dictate the response of anyother person ever regardless of their demeanor or befriend status or marriage status.

i agree with you on the verbs thing. its irksome that you can't just "bond" with someone in another way besides a marital relationship to show your protection or kinship with another character. What would be idea is if there were a menu of some sort. You still would be able to bond with one person and only one person for consent issues, but that person could be : father, mother, sister, brother, grandfather, grandmother, or spouse. Instead of only spouse.

It should just be turned into an OOC verb you use to assign consent sharing with another person for whatever reason. That info would be displayed in your profile. The marriage roses could then be used to give you the verbs if you want them.

<<I always figured one of the many points of the forced response verbs was notifying those around you OOCly of who you share a (consent) bond with.>>
In the past perhaps, but now that's what profile is for. If the GMs decide it's necessary to let people know who you're bonded with, force it to display in profile (as it does for PvP Open characters).
Some of the verbs are okay, but I miss being able to use the defaults which are often more appropriate for the situation.

This would be awesome.
Finally Traders could pay for a bodyguard without having to pay someone to marry them! (Although this may still be necessary for their social life...)
