We could use the tribes Xin'Alaudas united for clans. There are only four of them (Lakixeq, Beuven, Ilat, and one that seems unnamed) instead of the seven or eight Bella was considering and could provide more rp options. A compromise could be a book about the four dead tribes (just a book describing clan life before the unification), I could decide I really like one, and rp Risty as being say a Beuven Kaldar (a group that wanted to resurrect Beuven tribe lifestyle) while another person could be a regular non-specialized Kaldar. That might be a way of diversification without separation.

I would like to see the book 'Legacy Of Lanival.' It's sort of surprising this book isn’t available. Seeing the comparisons to Xin'Alaudas and Lanival would be good. It would also provide a new way at looking at the Thirteen as well.

One book that would be nice would be about the meeting and first impressions of the Kaldar and Gnomes had with the Rakash and Prydaen. I'm sure they were expecting to run into Elves, Dwarves, or even S'Kra, before Prydaen or Rakash. Rakash also transform which would remind the Kaldar and Gnomes of the Ocular. What did they think of the undead hordes these two races were terrified of?

If I could choose one Kaldar thing to be developed, hmm, I'll be greedy and go with a semi nomadic town. Mainly because a town needs books/a storyteller, food and drink, clothing, weaponry, unique npcs, etc. so I'd be getting a little bit of everything. The big problem with this would be that we would be going from very little to a very large amount of content in a short amount of time, which can actually destroy sense of community. Thus, I wouldn’t want it tomorrow, and I'm not sure there are enough players to support a town, but the question was if only one thing could be developed.

I'd like to start with in and out of game meetings, events, etc. first and go from there. I think a slow and steady stream of new content with plenty of player participation is ideal. So what I want and what I want if only one thing were to be done are a bit different.

Maulen, I think you did a good job on the run down of different magic types. I'd say non combat or passive magic is frowned on. In the racial blurb it seems the hate is more based on having something else do something for you. Thus, controlling the elements is okay, teleporting is okay, but using an avenger might raise some eyebrows, and necromancers' use of creatures to do their bidding would seem chicken. The hate and fear is of magic users hiding behind magic to do their dirty work than using magic to enhance their abilities.

>>Garrosh quietly says, "I did some reading on Kaldar's they seem to be almost to the point of samurai as it comes to military and or their point of views."

They also say 'hai' for yes. Just an odd observation. The language has more of an Indo European feeling overall to me.

>>Raesh says, "Though a small part of me, a very loud, yet small and evil part of me. Wants to introduce Kaldar mounts made by gnomes. That are giant clockwork mammoths. Driven by giant gears and steam pistons."

Is it wrong that I kind of want one? On a more serious note, that would make a great little wind up toy (with verbs).

>>Also, if I can say, what was up with everyone having brown hair and tanned/weathered skin? Am I the only one who envisions the tall snowy people as pale and blonde? Or did I just miss a book somewhere?

You can have weathered skin from the cold as well. Risty has auburn hair (red/brown mixture), jade eyes, and a tan because I was going for a bit of a Red Sonja image with a She Hulk build. She's also born and raised in Kemoria and I'm not sure any environment matches much of Albaria. Her home village might be warmer and still be a frozen wasteland with less life than typical in Albaria. Otherwise, I'm estimating tanned, weathered, rosy, and copper skin for being out in the elements and the dark hair because they thought it looked better with the skin.

Racial feats could be nice. I could see cold resistance, some sort of brawling perk, and an engineering bonus (though not as large as for Gnomes). Of course, as a player of a Kaldar Barbarian I also hope that Charisma continues to be important to the guild. On the other hand, I don't think many roll a Kaldar for the stat bonuses, which may mean that those of us that exist are a bit more interested in lore and development.

Lastly, for Raesh who is trying to catalog all the Kaldar related items like Albarian silk and lace I noticed this item Vorasus was wearing:

a long black hooded cloak of fine Albarian wool

Certainly an interesting item for a Gor'Tog to wear. Maybe someone should ask him about it.

There is also one Kaldar drink on Ratha you can get called Albarian Pale Ale.

<nod> I've always pictured them as Vikings/Norse types, from a place like snowy northern Norway. So, the kind of pale skin that doesn't tan well. But it looks like I'm in the minority.

Maulem, I like the magic ideas; I can certainly see these as one direction we might go in.

There's one bit of RP that jumps to my mind, a conversation I witnessed between two Kaldar, a mage and a barbarian. The barbarian was saying how magic is a crutch and he would never rely on it. The mage was responding that her magic was an extension of herself. She asked, "Should I cut off my arm as well because I am relying on it too much?"

Just something to think about.

Thank you for posting the meetings - I missed them both! Weekends aren't the best times for me and I didn't get the invite for whatever reason when I did arrive Friday night. Hoping for better luck next time.

I agree with the idea of a Kaldar area but not a town. A settlement, perhaps, though confined to a particular area - like the Gypsy camp of Therengaria does/used to - which roams according to the season with summer vrs winter sites.

If we were to have a permanent settlement or town, I see P5 as the most suitable existing region for us as a tribe. If your Kaldar has not explored there, you are truly missing out. Sinderra is in full bliss mode dodging past gryphons and mounted Dragon Priests to cross The Shel, climbing Asketi's Mount because its there, 'trading' with the 'Togs of Outer Hib for supplies, and communing at the Cleric's Guild 'missionary outpost.' I won't get into the distance to travel argument or the what's there to hunt debate and I am glad its all but empty at this point in time. The area is perfection and if no one else 'wants it' give it to us via a settlement, nomadic or not. Hardship is the way of life to Sinderra and anyone who whines only confirms what she already suspected - fulla bluster and too soft to keep up. Sin's perfectly willing to act as guide to anyone who wants to explore or doesn't know the way. (IM me @ EostreDR not using the Sin AIM at this point in time.)

As for mammoths, definitely drool worthy. Think Hannibal crossing the Alps. No matter where mammoths originally came from, the Gorbesh were the ones to train and use them for their purposes. I would love to have one as the Kaldaran horse. Hee. (If we're gonna dream big, lets dream BIG: think Shadow Servant, think POC - not for the interiors but for their multi-player access, think mounted combat - wish I was a Paladin now!) Save the clockworks for the Gnome toys. I want the living beast o'burden.

Sinderra's one thing will have to go with the lore. We need to develop our culture. Sinderra is a magic user of the non-shaman variety and a devout follower of Truffenyi (all of my chars are). Not sure if the Kaldar strayed from the Gorbesh due to religious persecution, but as much as Sin loves snow and ice, the thought of being shoved into a snow globe for eternity scares the snot out of her. She'd rather walk the starry road.
