Okay, I'm sure this complaints been heard before. My second wolf ever. I KNOW it's been well over 60 hours of in game time, though not sure if that's a correct number. Who do i have to bribe to get her to grow?

Paying well.

Well, the number is 80 hours of in game time. Not that they actually grow the instant that 80th hour comes around. Like most things in the ranger guild, there is a range.

Personally, with Lucky (the first one), I just started signing my posts with "Zinaca and her STILL young wolf" all the time. After a few weeks, he grew. : P

and i'm adding my coon issues here too... i'm newly back in the realms from an 8 year hiatus. i re-established my characters and promptly called up my companion (mind you it took me 2 days to figure it out correctly) and tried to feed my little critter some corn that had been in my pack, only to have it refused, along with newly foraged corn too. it was hanging with me because i kept petting it, but a moment of lag and that was all gone, along with my critter. GM's told me that my corn was too old, there have been numerous changes since this account was up in 2001 and if you are restoring, make sure that you not using same ole same ole food. i was bummed because my coon had just begun to forage for me today and also because i had just found out that my ranger husband from long ago had moved on severing our bond in my absence... and then so when i got my coon to come to me and snuggle and love me... so did my little raccoon companion. <sniffles>. i've got to get it all down and do it all over again, which even though it will take time, it is ok... i did come back to DR to play after all.

Fryda -

Same thing happened to me. The GH patted me on the back and pretty much said the same thing. There's a few more suprises waiting for you some not as unpleasant as losing your coon. Such as:

* Tracking is now scouting
* Some spells have been nerfed
* We can take shortcuts to places called trails that usually take longer than just walking
* We can capture and train horses

There's a few people that hang out on this board that have a ton of useful information if you need it (Xelten & Hanryu for starters).

Welcome back

Today my wife asked me when I was going to clean the patio. I said "Soon", to which she replied, "Who's version of soon? Yours or mine?
"Simutronics", I replied. I'll be sleeping on the couch for awhile.

Also, there has been a major substance change. You'll have to throw away your old corn and forage some new.

Good luck and welcome back!

<<GM's told me that my corn was too old...

Sounds like a guess there. I thought I gave you that corn, and if that's the one you tried to use then its plenty fresh and new.

Unless she had both the old and new corn in her hand, at the same time, when she tried to feed it. Using feed "second" corn or feed "other" corn, or just plain dropping the original and using feed "my" corn may have solved the problem.

Also, although I do not recall your name, it is always nice to see rangers return to Elanthia. Welcome back.

Welcome back Fryda! ::runs over and gives you a BIIIIG hug and smooch::

Also, while you are throwing out your old corn...throw out all your herbs. They likely won't work or if they do work will be kinda wonky.

And don't let folks like Gahlron (sticks her tongue out at him) affect how you view trails. I LOVE trails. (Ask Aleyden and Pfanston who have dragged my dead body out of some sticky trails) and yes they MIGHT be longer than walking (not how I walk though--trails are usually faster for me) But I love trails because they can bypass some very nasty creatures and mostly because I love the messaging you get while you are running them. Some of the messages are seasonal too. They are so scenic.

I'm so sorry you lost your coon...but know that it will be cared for lovingly by all the litters of coons I have left all over the place. Also wolves.

You might want to take a look at a web site called Elanthipedia.com and look around for information on companions. There are some really good suggestions you might want to follow there.

Another good ranger site is Olywdd.org and it is current for rangers at least.

Also, know that "soon" our ranger reqs will be changing and that we aren't under them yet. (In case you wonder just why there is a req calculator and a new req calculator on Olwydd's site). Zeyurn, our ranger liason, (not guru anymore but I still think of him as one) has said he will give good warning when the reqs come in.

There are new provinces now too. Don't know what your skills are but if you travel to Forfedhdar take another ranger with you as a guide. (By the way Forfedhdar is where the dwarves live and came from and there is sooo much detail in the rooms I still find new things to see when I go there.

On first aid...no pet bleeders. Or not for long anyway. Pet bleeders are a poor way to learn first aid (by this I mean unwrap it, tend it over and over). Instead, wait for your bleeders to bleed on their own and then tend. You will learn better. Also be aware that your wounds can get infected with deadly results if you let them say that way for long. Empaths can cure it though. There are also compendiums sold at the empath housing area (only empaths can get in) that teach first aid well too.

One of the newest and biggest changes have been to teaching. You no longer need to have more ranks in a skill to teach it to another. Someone with 1 rank of skill can teach anyone else. How well you learn depends on the other person's teaching skill. (Typing listen help/ teach help will help you out too).

Oh yeah...all the critters in the game have gone to combat school many many times so thinking you can go hunt in an area you used to hunt in way back when, might be seriously deadly.

Hopefully, this will help and not overwhelm you. I'm sorry if it is overwhelming. Again welcome back and look forward to seeing you sometime.

Zinaca and her wolf, Lucky who howls a greeting at you

Thieves, traders, and empaths can all get into the empath shop for compediums. Make sure you have a lot of scholar if you plan to go that route.

Oooh, that explains it! Figured herbal healing just got nerfed.

Thanks for the tip.
