690 survival average, 640 magic. If it wasnt for my crappy TM, my magic average would be higher. :(

Wow that's awesome Pete (wish I knew your ranger name) but anyways, that's wonderful. Now go to the mage guilds and throw it in their faces!

That is pretty damned awesome, Pete.

My TM is, and will remain, terrible. So, like falk, my survival average will always be higher.

My magic average is higher than survival as a primary Ranger, the distance will likely continue to increase, due to my training style.

I do not train boxes or stealing though, I figure those are the specialties of another guild.

I am curious why Armor and Weapons do not have an average, is this intended or something that is looking into being fixed?

Because no guild currently uses weapon or armor average for circling purposes. Not saying it couldn't be added, but that's why it doesn't currently exist.

Weapon average: 608
Armor average: 838

Doesn't the Barb guild require weapons and armor for circling? I'm pretty sure they require weapons to circle.

He said averages. I.e. rangers use to require a survival average (total). Magic primes require magic averages (totals). Etc.

Barbs/pallies do not have an "average" weapon or armor req, just highest/second/tert/etc.

Just made my long-standing goal of getting TM caught up to weapons:

1st Highest: Twohanded Edged - 270
2nd Highest: Long Bow - 270
3rd Highest: Medium Edged - 244

Targeted Magic: 270 13%

Hooray for not having to train 6 ranks a circle of a tertiary skill anymore!

Now on to 300 and my title goal.

I've been training 6 ranks per circle for slightly under a year now to get it caught up.

I had about 50 ranks to start out with even before AP spells came along because I was using runes. I took a break from the game before the TM change over and AP came out and when I returned I started messing around with BOLT. By the the time I realized I enjoyed using it in combination with my other combats, it was about 50 ranks behind primary weapon.

At this point, even though it is a tert skill, I can easily keep it on par with my weapons by casting during regular combat and then just having a hunting phase using only TM. Since that also lets me train defenses now, it is a win-win.

Wow I'm impressed, Pete! Congrats on your TM. I wish I had your patience and drive. I so suck at TM the gargs laugh at me when I try to hit them, though I can hit them with it.

I'm finding bolt easier to cast than eagle's cry. Is this intended? I can hit a critter with a bolt that I can't hit with eagle's cry. Again is this inteneded?

Anyone care to help me out with this?

EC is supposed to be an enhanced accuracy spell, based on my recollection of the description.

However, I went straight from BOLT to STRA. STRA and DEVI are about equivalent, but have different damage types. I got STRA because I love the crit messaging.

Once we get a third tier TM (hopefully AOE) I'll consider getting the ranger spells. Even more so if we can get swarm converted to a multi-strike TM from the fairly un-useful current function.

I think Taghz is the only paladin to get his TM close yet. I am still 200 ranks away and I train it pretty hard. Congrats. a major accomplishment to get it up to par while starting off basically from scratch.

Compared to the effort of backtraining TM, keeping it up with primary weapon is really a piece of cake. I strongly suggest any ranger do this from the start.
