- The release of P4.
- Morah vines dropping boxes.
- The day the boat system in P4 crashed and the crystal shards.
- War mages and Paladins camping out in crocs.
- When a 30th level character was considered a high level character.
- The introduction of the grave system.
- Figuring out the riddle to the Dragon Spine Fortress.
- Figuring out the puzzle on Ratha to get to M'riss soon after the province was opened.
- When Moon Mages started being able to gate between islands.
- The original J and K gweths.
- When fest weapons were considered the best weapons in the game.
- Being captured on Shard's streets at night and taken into UnderShard.

That's all I can think of for now.

The Bank robbery in the crossings with the hostage inside?

The snowbeast invasion in the Moon mage guild.

The original Warrior Mage guild?

The temple before it was exploded?

Dirge when Madmen were feared?

The mapping of Shard with Sal?

When Wood Trolls got the weapons taken and became Claw Trolls?

When lightning bolt was the most feared spell in game?

When having more than 1 AOL screen name meant you were uber since you had more than 1 character?

The S'lai scouts being human rogue Rangers that used short bows (snipe attack) that they never dropped.

20th circle being god-like.

It's been a long time since it happened, so I may not be remembering it correctly, but did novices get spawned on the street at one point (rather than at the Tenderfoot Inn)? Also, was there a time when movement through Crossing was not as simple as north/south/east/west? That is to say, the vague memory I have of my first character ever in Dragonrealms involves me going back and forth, north to south, on what I now know to be Herald Street and eventually joining the Paladin Guild because it was the only exit I noticed.

New characters were spawned in the street and I'm not sure when that changed.

I remember when there were no bards...

I remember learning brawling jabbing with a throwing knife or a spear...

Then there was the slai guards that would squish familiars...I loved those guys

I remember teaching backstabbing and trading to an empath...

You could also join every guild and keep your skills...

500 tdps to start and you had nothing...

You also departed and even novices had to run back to get their things which were scattered on the ground.

Gweths in a shop...

People killed on the ferry by a person with a wand because no one new what would happen. The same person doing it again.

Before anyone was ever raised. Some cleric charging to raise someone.

They need to up this again. I spent a whole month just wandering the streets waiting for it to happen and it never did. I was sorely tempted to set up a script and go on a Grindhouse marathon, just to get a log of the experience.

That and the war mage "storm cloud", though I think if I tick the elementals off enough times they'd be able to jumpstart the thing.

heh, Rock Trolls turned into the Claw Trolls of death ;-)

Yeah, I still have my trader ranks and scouting and I think backstab ranks that you can not get unless you are in those guilds any more (go me!) And of course waiting for the Bard guild to open (and the only day I miss is the damn day it opened :-(

And let us not forget Reavers and the climb up and down and how crowded it use to be there.

The mass wait at the gates of Leth for Shard to open. The invasions by the farmhouse out the west gate...

Outriders

Goblin Pike men and wolf riders taking over crossing town hall and holding the mayor prisoner

The day arbelogs dropped multi plats

Rock trolls throwing boulders

The day the volcano went boom and hundreds died in the lava flow going down the mountain.

The day Theren opened and sold gleaming longswords that had godlike slice

The big secret on how to get into Stone Clan (the password)

Twando stealing paladin eyes (heh that was fun)

Listenning to lessons in tracking, trading, and backstabbing

The opening of P4

The Gorbesh War and Red Winter

Getting lost in Marachek's Oak for 3 days before I figured out that I had to Go Road to get out

Touching a beam to see what happened and ending up teleported to Shard

The time where The Morgue was one of The Places to go for healing, raising, and lessons!

The time where there were boggles where the Monastary is now

Figured I'd throw a few more in.

- The infamous Hing gang.
- Selling outside Crossings bank until it got shut down.
- Targeted magic plinking.
- The Tsaidan(sp?) quests.

Since I mentioned the web migration when I started the thread, who still has their key?

<<heh, Rock Trolls turned into the Claw Trolls of death ;-)>>

Got killed quite a few times by these.

<<Then there was the slai guards that would squish familiars...I loved those guys>>

Same here.

For some reason I remember working magic in the Haven war mage guild and seeing a red eye glowing in a skull right before Black DS invaded the guild common room.

Finally, wasn't there a Kings wedding?

Casting Confusion on AFK scripters and stealing all their items they cycle through with their script. I collected many runes and cambrinth items to give away to newbies.

Not being able to find a single free room in goblins out the west gate.

Getting attacked by someone so they could take your room in goblins.

Killing anything with a 20 mana Burn, even the cave bears indoors.

The huge wait lines at the Empath's Guild.

Killing cougars where the ogres and blood wolves are now.

Finding treasure off animals like ring-necked gidii.

Having horribly OOC conversations in common gathering spots. Whoops!

The massive fear of the dreaded Boot Monster.

Remember..-When Dreamheart started training her commoner in preperation for the bards guild?

-Reavers and hounds opening and the mass confusion/slaughter that was the mine?

-Everyone talking about how the influx of AOL players was going to "ruin the game". How wrong we were.

-Training hard to make the second level of clericalness so that the thieves could train stealing off a player after the second wipe.

-Several players complaining about having to learn stealing as thieves in order to circle.

-When Riverhaven opened.

-The first fest...Rowan...Trailblazer badges...all that...good times, just like now.

The keys didn't come in boxes. There was something you could do to a key to make a duplicate appear. That was shut down after the migration.

ROFL! That reminds me, I logged in an old character back during the recent crash a couple of weeks ago, since my wife's account got corrupted, I was checking all my characters to be on the safe side. And of the characters I logged in, were on the AES. She had 3 things still mind locked with an * next to them. It was hilarious. I laughed for a good 15 minutes. I didn't realize it had been that long since I logged that character in.

Oh, yuck!

At first glance, it looked useful. But it had a nasty way of getting in the way of actual use and actual training. I was relieved when it was eliminated.

I'd have to agree with this statement. The people who started in DRs first couple of years keep having our list of memmories get longer. ::chuckles::

It's good to know there's still quite a few of us(myself included) around with these memmories.

P.S. Keep adding to the thread if we missed anything.

P.P.S. I'll add Escape to the list of stuff Simu created during this time. I still can't come up with a reason for using it.

I remember Finthin and I walking all over Crossing looking for the webs and touching them and either getting RPAs or coffers. He found them faster than I did though. As I recall the keys were duplicated by dropping them or something, it's been a long time, but I remember some guy at the NE gate had a web key and he was duplicating it for everyone.

Were those the ones that everyone was dragging all over the place hoping to make some use of them? I had my first Ranger back then.

Re: auctions at the Bank. I loved that. It just made the area feel so alive, even if it did cause problems. I took many years off from the game, and the feeling I got back then is difficult to find anymore. That's probably a product of changes within myself as much as the game.
