No other game holds the true social aspect that DR does. I was going through some of the old posts and reading what some of you had written about how DR used to be.

Some things that got to me...

<<When the dog and cat types of familiars would run around aimlessly announcing where their masters died>>

I HATED that. I was so happy when it went away. I believe if you were the closest person to where they died you were the victim.

<<Playing through the night and being surprised to look out the window and see it was getting light out>>

Too many times did I do this!

The bank. What a social gathering. Before gweths, you could pretty much find anyone at the bank. If they were in crossing they had to come by there eventually. No matter what you needed you could find it there.

Pre-gweths: The reason for having friends! There was no gwething for help or asking where someone died. The only thing you had to rely on was your friends to come look for you or hope that a stranger passed by and took pity enough to drag you. And to talk to your friends you had to hang out at a common spot with strangers and then sometimes those strangers became friends or enemies and you dealt with it all, right there on the spot.

Reporting: When did this happen? People didnt report! You mouthed off, you hoped it wasnt to someone who could kill you. And if they did, you died, got raised then plotted revenge or learned your lesson. And if
you were wronged for no reason the GM's didnt take care of it, your friends did if you couldnt! See above: The point of having friends.

During invasions if you were small, people would tell you to stay put and you listened. There was no complaining that there were no critters your size! You understood that you would be bigger some day and for now you had to stay put. It gave bigger players the ability to do what they did best and gave the rest of us something to shoot for.

When people who carried coin got robbed. It was a danger and it made the game fun! If you didnt want to get robbed you hid or had someone else carry your coins and sometimes you got robbed at the ferry and had to ask someone for coins and usually made new friends because of it.

When clerics took newbies to get favors instead of yelling at them and refusing to help because that newb has a fest crossbow and they cant possibly be newb. (Despite the fact that most of us have 10 of those crossbows in our vault and treat them like crossing half plate and maybe.. just maybe someone gave a newb something cool like my pink feather boa the first day in game)

Carrying 5 loaded crossbows! Nuff said

Hand of Justice for paladins. Damn that spell hurt!

Players continuing to do their own RP even when the GM's werent around. You always played that role no matter if something was going on or not.

Stormcloud being the only Moon mage able to gate to the islands.

Clerics in the cleric guild. Nuff said.

No clerics or empaths in Theren.

Langenfirth? What was that!?

When Theren Guard was just a group of people who wanted to RP.

When Clerics, Empaths and Paladins helped during an invasion. No need to be assigned to a triage unit. You rejuved the first name you saw, you healed the first name you could make out in the scroll and the younger paladins glyphed their hearts out! No one yelling about how they were in charge and you had to do it their way, in their place. You just did it.

Just one more thing I have to say...

Bring back Fluffy!
