That's the plan. Contacts are being rewritten, so it won't happen until then.

It says...

IC: Rumors abound of a new commercial enterprise stemming from the ruins of Throne City: a new merchant who sells goods to a very select clientele. Word has spread that these items are intended to remain in the hands of the worthy, and any outsider possessing one or more articles will certainly encounter trouble from the underground.

OOC: With the opening of GuildFest 2010 comes the release of King Fade's Back Alley Bazaar: a new shop exclusively for members of the Thieves' Guild. All weapons sold by this merchant are strictly intended to be used by guildmates only. Any non-Thief who chooses to interact with these items will almost certainly face confrontation and possibly violent consequences from other players.

Not sure if stemming from means the goods are at the fest from Throne or in Throne itself

Considering there's a big difference between the fest grounds and Throne City IMO, to narrow down where it's located either at the fest or Throne City, would waste a lot of time and energy looking for something if you're misreading the clue but for the sake of argument, I would say Throne City. And am I to assume this shop isn't just open for the duration of the fest, that it is permanant

The rumors are from Throne City, not from theren, why would it be somewhere else. Plus there's a huge clue about where it would be located in the thread title and all throughout the thread, I haven't looked for it yet but if/when I do I know where I'm going to start.

If it's not too much to ask, is there a minimum circle req to finding and or entering this new shop? I have a circle 50 thief but he's tied up at the festival right now. I have another thief, circle 5, in Crossing and would like/need to use him to enter the shop instead if at all possible.

The reason the short bow is not reduced load is because then some people would be able to train it down to 0 RT, which is a Bad Thing. What's available for purchase is a compromise. I hope you understand!

I wouldn't recommend taking a 5th circle character in there, there are crossbow wielding thugs and angiswaerd hatchlings to pass through. Also to my dismay I discovered another 'feature' of the area...

[Colosseum Ruins, Upper Tier]
Planks of wood make a serpentine pattern on the floor, snaking around the many holes that were formed as portions of the lower tier collapsed. In the places where the footing looks most stable, rows of scaly husks are piled, though many of the larger ones are instead nailed onto the walls. Between the holes, planks and husks, splatters of red and black paint freckle the stone. You also see a Human alley thug.
Obvious paths: southeast, west.

The alley thug closes to pole weapon range on you!

[Colosseum Ruins, Northern Tier]
The brick and mortar barricades that partition the various seating areas have collapsed, allowing access directly to the shattered top of the arena wall. Hung overhead are a multitude of tattered tapestries, obviously recent additions as there is no way something so fragile as cloth would have survived centuries of exposure and abandonment. You also see a Human alley thug and the top of the arena wall.
Obvious exits: southeast, west.
* Synyster was just struck down!
Your mirror shiv falls to the ground.

Your death cry echoes in your brain as it quickly dawns on you that you have just died! Already, you feel the tug of eternity upon your soul and you struggle to remain tied to this world.

So I run back to the same spot and....

A bit harsh I thought, especially since on Elanthipedia it says:

Inside the colosseum, the floors are weak and may give way, causing the character to fall to a lower level, be stunned, be prone, and be injured.

Maybe should add insta-killed to that list!

Indeed, that is a bit harsh. Worse then the thugs I guess, I doubt they'd give me much trouble as I hunt t2/3 swamp trolls, even took on a fendryad a couple times.

Ye know, would be neat to have a new kind of item/fluff, like grappling rope or something to anchor you from falling in such places. :/

You may want to re-check that math.

Short Bows only get quiver reductions, and only for Barbs/Rangers. So a 1/2 short bow (like the 2 gold Nisha from El'bains) can be loaded in 1 second from quiver by a Barb or Ranger that has 30 agi/ref. That bonus doesn't apply to hand loading, so I fail to see how this is possible.

Am I overlooking something?

Sorry, quiver reduction is probably what I meant. All I know is that when I was going over getting the weapons approved, GM Kodius said that short bows couldn't be reduced load because some people would manage to have 0 RT. I probably misinterpreted that as from training rather than the quiver thing. Remember that Barbs and Rangers CAN still use these weapons despite the fact that they're intended only for Thieves. Apologies for the confusion!

I thought the short bow in the shop right now was 2 second load when loaded from the hand? That's not the lowest they can go, otherwise the Nisha would be running into the 0 RT problem, wouldn't it? It's a 1 second load from hand, IIRC.

I might just be misinformed.

Kinda what I thought. I use a nisha, and while im glad to get a better bow, the fact that its slower seems odd considering the other items.

Sorry, my last post may have been a bit confusing.

I am saying that a reduced load (by 1 second) short bow cannot possibly be loaded faster than 1 second, by anyone, ever.

This is why I (and others) are confused as to why the Fade short bow isn't reduced load.

Look, I was simply pointing out that the answer given isn't true. I'd make the same post even if Tiesse had already said that there is no possibility of a change, but if there is I would like the GMs to be operating under correct knowledge.

I also have no stake in this. Short bow isn't in my top 7 weapons and I doubt I'll ever use it at level. However, there are thieves that are short bow prime and I'd be sad if they were getting a Milgrym's short bow while everyone else gets reduced load.

That being said, the shop is amazing and I am grateful for the work the GMs put in.

Potential bug with the messaging and give verbs.

When using the 'give item to X' command, I simply got the 'try again in 30 seconds to do this' regardless of wether it was in the left/right.

Was with the grey sabre, specifically, in plat. Didn't try with anything else.

We just got the best items it the Festival, but this one item is only within the same realm as the best short bow in the game, and is not the best hands-down. Could you look into that? Thanks!

Jeez people. I posted this wondering if the RT was even intended given that every other ranged weapon there has an RT reduction. Low and behold it seems it may have originally been intended to be but there is a specific reason why it was disallowed. Maybe that reason isn't entirely accurate.

It was a simple inquiry, and accompanied with plenty of gratitude. So why don't you folks stop turning this into something it's not?

Howdy everyone. It was my decision to limit the shortbow loading time due to some discoveries I made while documenting the combat system. You are correct that a 0 sec RT load isn't possible, but it was a theory I had before testing, and those results never got back to Tiesse. Regardless, the discoveries really took me off guard and will be addressed as we move forward with the combat changes. Also try to keep in mind the bow has decent stats AND its a sniper's bow to boot.

As a trader, and even as anyone else, I'm wary of this policy. How are we to know what these weapons are? So if some thief comes up to me and says "That is a thief only weapon." I'm suppose to abide and give it to him? And if I don't he can kill me? How is anyone suppose to know what is and is not a "thief" weapon. I'm sorry, but unless some very good answers are given, this is bad policy.
