You notice Dork 1 trying to steal from Idiot 3.
You're taking a big risk.
You cautiously attempt to lift a few coins from Target 1, but at the last moment he turns away and the attempt fails.
Roundtime: 5 seconds.
Stupidface turns her head towards you.

You awaken from your reverie and begin to take in the world around you (You will now begin to gain new experience again).
You notice Pureblade trying to sneak past you because of his pink tutu.
steal tar
You silently work your way toward Target 2.
* Parasarm was just struck down!
You're taking a big risk.
You cautiously attempt to lift a few coins from Target 2, but at the last moment he turns away and the attempt fails.
Roundtime: 5 seconds.
Circle: 99

Stealing: 26 30% clear
Survival Average: 26 (Total: 341 in 13 included skills)
Time Development Points: 16 Favors: 3 Deaths: 0

Like between 30 seconds and a minute after this without stealing again I went up to learning...why did it take time to go from clear to learning after I stole?

I wasn't stealing from the same person. I stole from one person while sleeping then awoke and stole from the other. At first stealing stayed at clear but like 30 seconds later it went to learning without me stealing from another person. Why did it take 30 seconds after the attempt to go from clear to learning?

>The Trading skill -- and stalking---works the same way.
Doesn't stealing and stalking work differently from trading though? With trading (from contracts and gem pouches at least), you get some exp right away, then more exp ~3 minutes later, more exp ~6 minutes later, etc.
I thought stealing and stalking (and appraisal too) were more like, zero exp right away, then you get all the exp X seconds later?

>>So basically, those of you who steal from the same person over and over again, you're doing it all wrong.
I just wanted to let you know, that advice is an absolute godsend. Once I wrote a script for it and figured out how long the timer was(with a lil help from a friend), I gained 30 ranks stealing in 10 days.
Thanks!

Also, it isn't complex at all. I just have it hide, steal from whoever I put as variables, and then stay hidden till the timer runs out and do it all over again. It requires people, but with the new teaching I sit and teach and steal and learn great.
You should be able to make it easily, and also I've found that you learn better if successful when you don't hide...so in big crowds it's useful to make a script that DOESN'T hide before each steal.

Especially since I don't have a negative bonus to worry about either. Or exorbitant fines just because judges hate me. =)

Always open to more tips on how to learn it though, if any of you masters is looking to share some info or take on a stealing apprentice.

I dont think I have low ranks. I dont have the ranks alot of the higher commoners are running around with nowadays, but I do have quite a few ranks myself. And if I hadnt taken a four year vacation, I would probably have alot more then I do even though I couldnt use the ranks at the time.
