As much as I would love to see the prices in Crossing go up myself <g> it's not going to happen. Prices in Crossing are always going to be dirt cheap because of its poor population (aka new players.) It also can be assumed that they use substandard material in their goods....
The only major price changes that I foresee in the near future are actually to food menus, especially in therengia and zoluren, which are going to be regulated down to more reasonable prices. It's pretty silly to have to pay twice the cost of a sword for a sandwich in one of our fine inns.
As to pawn shops, that's a whole other subject. There are reasons that the pawn shop in Crossing doesn't seem to pay as much.

Food sold at merchant style tables already are stealable.
If you're asking if menu items would be stealable, no that wouldn't make sense.
The food/drink isn't prepared/drawn until after you order it, and tenders in Elanthia are usually smart enough to ask for payment first.
In either case, pawn shops don't buy food, so I doubt it'd be a big draw anyhow.
