Greetings!
This week is real life but fantasy as well and two fold....If you were sent to a desert island which one book and one type of candy would you bring with you if you were given the choice?
I wish I could give some deep thought provoking answer to this myself, but as much as I love to read and have read over the years...I would still just grab the book on the shelf that I haven't read yet...never reread anything and the only thing that ever poked at me was the Bible...just to find out where folks get thier thoughts when I didn't find it there...
The candy is easy...Reese's Miniature Cups.

Chocolate covered Caramel candy.
Books- probably a language textbook so I could work on learning something to keep from being bored.

A scavenger troll arrives, scouring the area.
The scavenger troll exclaims, "I dinks I like da' Moongate!"
The scavenger troll bends over and picks up the Moongate. After appraising it, the troll places the Moongate in its frayed knapsack

I would want a book on survival.
I could never pick just ONE book to take with me on a desert island, for enjoyment but, I think that The Deed of Paksennarion by Elizabeth Moon would be at the top of the list.
Candy? Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.
A dark brown Zoluren marnet scampers after a small beetle then chitters with disappointment as the insect unfurls its wings and flies away.

Book - maybe just the thickest book I can find, to use for firewood. If I'm only allowed to use it for reading, then I guess it would have to be Lord of the Rings (it's actually 1 book, not 3)
Candy - I'm getting really thirsty from just thinking about being on a desert island with peanut butter and chocolate candy - can I bring beer instead?

The Bible is cheating :)
By the BBC rules of this game it's assumed that a religious text of choice and a complete Shakespeare are already there, left behind by previous castaways. The excruciating decision is what else you'd read over for the rest of your life. Me, either Pynchon's "Gravity's Rainbow" or Mailer's "Harlot's Ghost"... at a pinch the Mailer.
And it's "one luxury item" rather than candy, so sure Apu, a solar-powered fridge of beer is allowed (Mailer took a joint when he played the game). I guess a jar of olives, as a contrast to fruit and fish...
Balshin.

I would take with me one of the I think its called the Foxfire books. They Detail the old ways, cures, lore and crafts of living in the appalachion mountains. Or I would take some type of lucid practical guid or diary on surviving on a desert Island eventually I would be able to make my own sweets. As far as Candy goes I would rather have 4 fertalized chicken eggs.

i'd probably take a dictionary because i can't spell. i'd like to be able to spell out seaweed-words in the sand. a box of jawbreakers would likely last me an eternity.

The book is the most difficult part I think. Though I'm not a fan of the author's style of writing, I'd have to go with 'The Count of Monte Cristo'. Few stories contain all of the elements that Dumas included in this single book.
On 'candy', I don't prefer sweets much but I'd have to choose chocolate covered almonds, though a Mounds bar would come in a close second.
