Greetings,

The Aegis of Granite spell is now on Premium Preview in Prime. You may prepare and cast the spell without having the knowledge of it or its prerequisites in your spellbook.

Aegis of Granite serves two purposes. If cast on a metal shield you are holding or wearing on your arm, it will strengthen the shield and make it more difficult to damage and destroy. It will also increase the protection values of the shield. In exchange, it also increases the weight and hindrance by a modest amount.

If cast generally (without a target), it will create a granite shield either in your hand or, if you specify ARM, attached to your arm. The size of the created shield depends on mana, but a shield attached to your arm will be capped at small size. In addition to the effects stated above, a shield created by this spell provides a small boost to the Shield Usage skill, and can be shaped to produce spikes and elemental effects (the elemental effects are purely fluff).

Removing a created shield, wearing it, dropping it, or putting it anywhere will cause the shield to be destroyed. An enhanced shield will not be destroyed, but if it leaves the caster's hands or arm for more than a few seconds the bonuses will be removed.
