The more mana I put into the spell the more exp I get? does it matter if i harness for part of it? or use cam?

Full prep verses, half prep, verses snap cast any exp difference?

The harder the spell the more exp I get?

Targeting a body part, err why? More exp?

I have been lost since the change, can't get TM moving no matter which of the combinations above I try.

Thanks for any suggestions

TM gives exp exactly like a weapon.

More mana does equal more experience, but it's not a huge difference. Small enough that attunement management is much more important a factor to TM experience. Regularly casting min prep casts is the way to go at low to moderate ranks. At higher skill you'll be able gradually increase the mana to chain cast at higher preps, since the cost of the spell for the same mana will go down.

I.e. spam the highest prep you can easily maintain without running out of attunement, since downtime will kill your experience gain far more than less mana will. Exceptions might include things like extra hits at a given mana tier if the extra hit gives enough exp to offset the higher cost, but those will be the exception rather than the rule.

And if you can't get TM to move at all, then you probably need to move up a critter. If you wouldn't learn a weapon at the same rank as your TM by hitting that creature then you also won't learn TM. Same goes for Debilitation in case that becomes your next question.

>can't get TM moving

Appraise the target you're casting on carefully. Appraise <crittername> Careful compares your skills vs the critter. You should be able to tell if it'll train TM and debilitation. TM and Debilitation can only be trained in combat at level.

From Elanthipedia:
TM experience heavily depends on the damage inflicted by the spells, and fine targeting body parts provides no boost. Targeting critters of difficulty appropriate to your skill levels may also be necessary for effective learning. Discipline increase TM accuracy, Intelligence and Wisdom increase damage.

Remember you're magic prime so your TM is going to start slowing down before your weapons and armor do
