Um, that's not quite the same thing. By "Guild" they mean more like a club or something, not a profession. They really should take that thing out of the folder description, I can see how it would confuse someone, since there are MUDs out there have player run guilds. Official organizations just have perks that unofficial ones don't. Like signature items, and staves of initiation.

I think they understood that. Thing is players don't create guilds. There are however i believe 2 (?) new guilds already approved to be coded and possibly another awaiting approval. If you have ideas about a guild you'd like to see, you could post that in appropriate suggestion folders. GMs read the boards and take in suggestion. Its probably a combination of players suggestions and well as GM imagination that have created the basis of the new planned guilds. The creation of them however is solely with the GMs.

Couple of things.
The most glaring and obvious is that there are already knights in the realms. They call them paladins. You should look them up. The next is that if as sad as it may seem to anyone the ability to spell and articulate your ideas correctly and in a way that someone that was reading your ideas believed you to be both sane, and not under the influence of heavy illegal medications. I'm quite sure that even if your opening speaces might be well written. If only you know what it is your are trying to say its not going to get you very far. Lastly, as its already been stated once, there is a folder avaliable to put forth new guild ideas. If you wish to present your ideas to a GM it would do you good to either A. Post them there, or B. Send them to the person in charge of that folder.

Other than that good luck and good adventuring.

knight n.

1a. Abbr. Knt. or Kt. A medieval tenant giving military service as a mounted man-at-arms to a feudal landholder.

1b. Abbr. Knt. or Kt. A medieval gentleman-soldier, usually high-born, raised by a sovereign to privileged military status after training as a page and squire.

1c. Abbr. K. A man holding a nonhereditary title conferred by a sovereign in recognition of personal merit or service to the country.

2. Abbr. Knt. or Kt. A man belonging to an order or brotherhood.

3a. A defender, champion, or zealous upholder of a cause or principle.

3b. The devoted champion of a lady.

Now lets's take a look at a paladin.

1. A paragon of chivalry; a heroic champion.
2. A strong supporter or defender of a cause: “the paladin of plain speaking” (Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr.).

Also in DR paladins have spells, and can not learn stealing. Who is to say there can not be some dark knight so to say. Thus another guild along those lines could be good.

I think the idea is a neat one, but as far as a Knights guild goes, it might be too close to the Paladins.

A clan within the Paladin guild for those who want to be more of a Knight would be awesome. There could be another clan for those who's goal in life is to capture and punish the theives of the realms, and others who would like to educate folks, etc. Traditionally though unless I have really forgotten my history (definitely possible) doesn't someone of high-nobility need to beknight the new trainee before he becomes a full-fledged knight? How would this work? Prince Vorclaf seems to be pretty busy and may not want to partake of yet anohter responsibility. Also how would females fit into the equation?

Sounds cool though, I will be watching for updates <smile>

Well a Paladian is a type of knight, But they use magic. The order i'm forming is going to follow close to the rules of real knights.
