A new hunting area, The F'Eyrie, has been released on Teras Isle featuring firebirds (level 85), ash guardians (level 87), and blazing red phoenixes (level 90)! To reach the area, you must brave a treacherous climb from the basalt flats to the top of the volcano Stormbrow. Don't forget to bring your rhimar blades and fire resistant gear, or these birds and their defenders may just be too hot to handle!

This was a fairly large (and extremely fun!) project to work on for the past few months, so I just want to make sure credit is given to those GMs who helped make this area become a reality:

So neat! Any chance the firebirds or phoenixes can be skinned for feathers that grant fire flares? So far, only storm griffins, dreadnought raptors, and snowy cockatrices give flaring feathers. A fire one would be great!

You inhale deeply upon your pipe, puckering your lips as you send out three rings of smoke before you, then puff out a small vine of smoke that darts right through all three which causes them to disperse in a hazy shroud!

You quickly glance through a bundle of kakore arrows and count 15 with red firebird feathers remaining.
Individual projectiles from this bundle will have a long of "a kakore arrow fletched with red firebird feathers"
Niiiiiice!

Cool area, thanks! A few minor things:
Should this work like this? They seem to do this a LOT - and rarely come down to be attacked.
>>>>>>>>>>>
A firebird cranes its neck, snapping at you with its sharp beak!
AS: +378 vs DS: +470 with AvD: +7 + d100 roll: +37 = -48
A clean miss.
>kill
You can't reach the firebird from here. Perhaps you should try throwing or shooting something at it.
>>>>>>>>>>>
The firebirds are not immune to fire - but the phoenixes are.
Finally - they don't fall when it says they fall - their next move is actually to fall to the ground. Is that right? Maybe it's just the way sleep + flying work.

A blazing red phoenix's eyes roll up into its head as its body goes limp on the ground.

You concentrate intently, focusing all your energies.
With instinctive motions, you weave to and fro striking with deliberate and unrelenting fury!
A blazing red phoenix is awakened by your attack!

The birds should be reachable with melee attacks for a window of time after they swing now. Thanks for pointing that out.
>>The firebirds are not immune to fire - but the phoenixes are.
Correct. The firebirds are organic while the phoenixes are composed entirely of flame. The firebirds still have significant fire resistance, though.
>>Finally - they don't fall when it says they fall - their next move is actually to fall to the ground. Is that right? Maybe it's just the way sleep + flying work.
It should be working as intended. There may be a quirk with the messaging of that ability, though. I'll look at it.

It appears the area dispels non native spells (I lost my ranger and mage spells as well as some other x per days). As. Sorcerer, lesser spirits are native but I also lost spirit barrier, strangely.
Also, somehow I don't lose phoen's strength or champions might.
Would be helpful if I didn't lose resist elements since the area is also dot from heat.
Neat area and definitely fits the teras toughness I've come to expect and appreciate.

"I think both spellings actually are "airy" with no difference" -- Oscuro
I usually see the 'ae' spelling as a conjoined character (is that a "diphthong"?), which may be identifiably more in the Germanic/Scandinavian languages and derivatives. Alt+198 Æ ASCII code, or Alt+230 æ for lowercase.
.
Kudos on getting the new area out, though! :)

I suspect there's a subcategory we're not considering.
For example, the paladin's patron's aura will only influence those that are influenceable (whatever that definition is). Aivren being difficult but still run of the mill creatures can be so influenced. Firebirds, being manifestations of (insert favorite term here) are not susceptible to the aura and so are not affected.
Others that could be on the list in that sense - Dragons (awe overcoming a dragon? Please.), Demons (if you aren't the Demon Prince, you got nothing!), Elementals (different plane with no 'fear' or 'knowledge' of the patron, yo!) in the Confluence and so on.
And of course, the Elf (heh, had to be done.)

You hurl a stream of water at an ash guardian!
AS: +428 vs DS: +299 with AvD: +19 + d100 roll: +5 = +153
... and hit for 18 points of damage!
Blow grazes left arm lightly.
You are now in a guarded stance.
Seems like an opportunity was missed to have these flame critters receive an extra critical from water and cold spells. Not many opportunities to actually WANT to use aquamarine and metal wands in the game.

As I gaze over the horizon, the wind tugs at my cloak and whispers, "Adventure" in my ear. |
A squeaky halfling nearby asks, "Why you playing with orcs heads and troll rearends?!" |

Pretty sure I tried metal wands and aquamarine wands and neither was more effective like fire magic against trolls or fire magic against the glacial morphs.
