@all gms: How about a system to allow playershops to buy items from customers like the pawnshop does?
The items would be stockpiled for the shop owner, and not resold.
The shop owner would set a price per item for a specific item (i.e. small statue, golden wand, etc) and would be prompted to set aside an amount of money to cover buying a specific number of those items (like 100 golden wands at 2500 each).
This would allow shop owners to hunt down items they want to work with, such as wizards charging items, and then resell them at their leisure.

I would think that the specification would need to be in "silvers per charge", because a thrifty seller would wave all-but-1 charge and then go sell to the shop.
You would also have to have a flag for "greened" items, because an annoying seller would take a dead gold wand and Channel 517 at it, wave all-but-1 charge and then go sell to the shop.
.
Short version: probably more hassle than it's worth, so shop owners should check the Pawnshop's magic tables periodically and buy what they want. Or think on the amulet.

Not personally a fan of this suggestion but I would simply go with "fresh" (not used, not charged) as the filter criteria for what could be purchased.
I think a better implementation would be an auction house setup where players can put items up for sale in a central market, and similarly, buyers could come in and buy from a central market. Items being auctioned would have a listing fee based on listing price and a limited time (several days to a week) in which to be purchased before being removed.
To the OP: I've found that if you want to create a stockpile of certain items for charging (or whatever), it is pretty easy to find one or a few active hunters and work a deal with them where you will buy all of their <pick your items of interest> for an agreed upon price over time. Usually a thought or two on the thoughtnet indicating your interest in collecting said items is sufficient to get a conversation started.

Just a central market where any character could place X items at a time to be sold to others and like items could be viewed side-by-side has been my dream for years, even if they were done on a per town basis and not Elanthia-wide... but NIR has repeatedly rebuffed all such requests. The last reason I saw (years ago now) for why it couldn't be done was that on-site changes would need to be made in order to implement such a thing, but that makes no sense to me given what they've done with playershops, urchins, etc.
