Funny, I was about to post on heirloom bounties but for an entirely different of reasons.

First - A question about the autoloot flag. I noticed there are times when my character simply won't pick up items when he has a free left hand. Sometimes it is a chest, other times it is something more critical like the heirloom from a critter. A couple of times I have seen the item I need and fail to pick it up and run of back to town with nothing.

Obviously, I am aware that this happens from time to time, when I don't manually retrieve the item it burns because I am aware that this can happen. I was wondering if there was a bug in the autoloot flag or if some items are designed not to be picked up automatical. I am not requesting any sort of change, I want to know if there is a reason why or, if not, should I bug items in game when this happens.

Second - I am a quirky hunter. I will run through an area and look for other hunters. If no one is in the area, I will blast every creature once and then go back to mop up. Here is my question in relation to heirloom hunts - When is the decision made to place an heirloom on a creature? Is it when the creature spawns, when I hit it or when I kill or loot it?

There are cases when I see many creatures, hit them all and then have other hunters enter the area. Obviously, I can't call "Chase!" because of my hunting style. There is a give and take here, I softened them up and sometimes get exp for other people's kills. I am just wondering if I am shafting myself on heirloom retreival because another character can kill the creature that happens to have "my heirloom". Basically, when I hunt heirlooms, do I want to stop blasting away at random and be more focused?

To be honest, I don't really get annoyed when I have to kill a "massive amount" of critters to get my task done. I end up blasting the same creature over and over without being able to tell if I have already encountered it once before. It is a bug in my hunting style. My reason for hunting this way is that I show up in the hunting area with full mana and want to immediately unload 30-40 points of mana so when then next pulse hits I receive the full amount and not waste a few points. By showering many creatures with spells immediately, as I outrun my mana returns, I can note which creatures are weakened and should be killed and which are at at full health and can be avoided.

My personal understanding is that the heirloom only has a chance to spawn at the LOOT stage. I will check my logs, but my wife and I made new alts, and I believe we had a case where one of us blasted a creature with a 1-shot kill and the heirloom was still found by the character that did not get in a hit. I also believe it has been stated that it is not done at the time of spawning; if it did, other people would have the chance to find the heirloom you are looking for, which can never happen.

One option you have to avoid this is tricky use of MANA PULSE. If you use that before you go hunting (although it will only give you the off-node value), it will delay your first pulse by a certain amount of time (up to two minutes, depending on your training). Probably, this isn't what you want, but I just indicate this option that you can consider. These days when I'm warcamping with my sorcerer, I sink my first set of mana on Wall of Force and an Area Web at the entrance.

You simply need to loot the creature to have a chance of finding your heirloom. You don't need to tag it or kill it or do anything other than loot it.

Do you lose out on rewards if you don't tag it, like you do with the dangerous ones? I don't remember ever losing out on heirloom rewards but I don't remember having had a definitive situation either.

Not that I have noticed.

On the flip side, I did one-shot a dangerous critter a couple days back and only received ~80 Bps. So you definitely want to toy with those a bit before killing them (not that this is usually an issue).

We found something more retarded than trying to use Torment for culling tasks. Good job.

sadface. the sorceress (I should say the witch now that I ever asked that to be a male title under RP) doesn't say Torment not being effective for culling tasks sounds like a bug. Evil Eye remote also isn't any good with this. Or nearby open Implosion. Sorcerers kind of...don't have the most awesome bounty spells.

huh? I wasn't replying to you about torment at all. it was specific to the one-shot low BP return.
