I'd like to test out the new WebFE but am running into a technical issue where radio buttons do not appear next to my characters (in Safari and Firefox). Running an older iMac with 10.7.4. There IS a radio button for "Create a New Character," but not for my actual characters.
Anything easy that'd cause that? Everything is up-to-date. Cookies enabled. No crazy security settings.

Holding down Shift and clicking refresh does nothing.

Just chiming in to say I have no issues of any kind.
Using Chrome to connect.
Also, I don't know if this is standard or not, but LOG IN/OFF flags are hopefully off by default for new accounts.
..and finally.. you REALLY need a screenshot based manual to explain what icons do what. Some of them don't do anything when I click on them so I really don't know what they're for.

I have radio buttons for characters now and then I click "Go Play" and it forwards me to the Wizard page.

No options for other FEs (although it does say I can download Avalon).

Actually, I take back what I just said...
It loads the client, for the most part, but it doesn't connect.
This however could be an HTML5 and IE8 issue.

I did the command EXIT with Chrome and it cut my connection (verified on a second account), but the FE is still up and showing everything. Now, if you're wanting to keep it open for people to see the log.. sure. Basically I just have to take a guess that my character is logged out and then go navigate to another page. I think it should take me to the GemStone home page when I exit.

It's worth noting that this bug occurs on two separate Macs.
A 2006 iMac (10.7.4) with Firefox and Safari and a 2009 MacBook Pro (10.7.4) with Firefox and Safari.
Cleared cache, cleared all cookies, etc...
Select Character (CharName), Click Go Play!, goes to the Wizard page mentioned earlier with the Loading bar and it downloads a file (CharName.sal).
Opening the CharName.sal file opens Avalon.
All latest system updates, java updates, etc...

I'm getting a blank black play screen. The client loads and it looks a lot better than the one we used to use back in the day on Prodigy. I was very excited at the prospect that I might be able to play during lunch during festivals and stuff but I don't know if it is my work and the firewalls or the fact we are only allowed to use the browser IE 8 for now.
I don't get anything that says I am connecting to the game, the scroll that usually shows up when you log into the game.

I had a whole bunch of problems when the new FE was released, but most of them seem to have been resolved now. Personally, I hate the new FE; it's ugly and hardly self explanatory as touted. For a while I could not use SF or e-scape (my two favorites), but now, thank the Arkati, I can.

For me at work they are windows xp and IE 8. Old ancient yes because that is what our stupid case management system requires. Although they will be upgrading to windows 7 sometime this century I'm told.
I just tried it at home on my laptop (windows 7 and Firefox) and it works just fine.

I can log in fine but in Opera 12.0 I would try to press return after putting a command in the line and it would not execute.
also, the color scheme is way too harsh on the eyes and creates a lot of glare. The light blue on dark blue is hard to read, and white on blue is awful. I prefer gray on black for most of my text.

I'm getting the .sal file when I try and run it too. I tried this using Firefox, Safari, and Chrome on a Mac running 10.7.4.
Kudos on finally having a universal interface. Now if I can just get it to work that'd be swell! :)

Okay, saw the problem with MSIE 8 just now, that should be fixed.
Also, Opera should be respecting the return key now, if not, let me know and I'll load it up and try to debug.
Finally, for those of you getting the .sal issue, can you click on "More Connection Options" and make sure "Web Client" is selected? If it is, let me know and we'll dig some more.

<<Personally, I hate the new FE; it's ugly and hardly self explanatory as touted.>>
I completely disagree with this.
I think it looks nice, the colors are easy on the eyes. I liked the drop down lists of inventory, etc.
The only thing I had a problem with was BACKSPACE.
Unless your cursor is in the command line, when you hit backspace your browser goes back a window. (logging you out of the game)

I must be blind, but where exactly is this option located? I can't find it to save my life.

I'm in the same boat as Bacl. I have been trying to log on with my Toshiba Thrive Android Honeycomb tablet's default browser and not once has there been a "More Connection Options" button. So instead, it keeps trying to download WizardFE (and failing). The only other tablet browser I've tried is Firefox, but I've either had the same issue, or it'll download a .sal file.
However, on my desktop, the new FE loads fine on my default browser (Chrome), though I usually log on to Stormfront with the SGE. If there's a toggle IN the FE on a desktop browser to set it as default for tablet browsers, I cannot find it.

Where is the 'More Connection Options' link supposed to be? It's not on either https://www.play.net/gs4/play/home.asp or https://www.play.net/gs4/play/playing_wiz.asp for me.
MacBook Pro, 10.7.4, tried Safari 5.1.7 and Chrome 19.0.1084.46

So I logged in on Internet Explorer on WIndows, and apparently the "More Connection Options" option is right under character selection, but this IS NOT SHOWING UP on Safari, Chrome, or Firefox on a Mac.
Nonetheless, I still couldn't get it to work on the Windows system. It opened up a client box, and kept saying that it was connecting without ever actually connecting.
Still can't get it to stop downloading .sal on any Mac web browser.

So then how do Mac users use this new FE??? Universal, yes? Meaning Macs, yes?
